This character could be based on Jack Benny's Valet Rochester from back in the days of black and white movies.  Just a feeling/thought I had when I saw him the first time.

Bad Orthography?

You guys spelt it wrong. :(

How should it be spelt? We will fix it - Dr Haggis - Talk 10:46, 1 Dec 2004 (MST)
My thoughts on spelling: There is a Beauregard Parish in Louisiana, and Toregard seems to be a Swedish last name. "Doregard" looks to me like the first syllable should sound like "door", whereas "Deauregard" looks like the first syllable should sound like "dough". It sounds like people in lackey pronounce the first syllable as "dough". Mister Mister 19:26, 5 Dec 2004 (MST)

Deauregard vs. Doreauxgard

For those of you wondering what happened to "Deauregard", much less "Doregard", you can rest assured that we finally have the official say on the TBC-sanctioned spelling of our favorite cantaloupe's name: If you take a look at weeklies.xml (you may have to go to View > Source in your browser to avoid the XML error) and scroll down toward the bottom of the list of character names, you'll see quite clearly the name "Doreauxgard". — InterruptorJones[[]]

This is so cool. Good work Jones. Remember when some people thought it started with a "T"? Wow, those were the days. -- Tom 18:19, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
That list raises a further question. Who's 1up? -- Cyrius 19:50, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
"1up" is 20X6 Homestar, whose real name is rumored to be 1-Up ExtraMan (or similar). — InterruptorJones[[]] 20:18, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
I suspected as much, given his absence from the list. I'll go make a note over on that page's talk page for future reference. -- Cyrius 20:41, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

door-oh-gard

What's wrong with adding the correct pronunciation for Doreauxgard's name in the article? --Trogga 14:01, 12 Feb 2005 (MST)

Well, for one, it's debatable. I hear "Doe-roe-gard" or "Doe-ruh-gard" myself. --Jay 14:02, 12 Feb 2005 (MST)
