Russia and the Russian language get occasionally referenced in the Homestar Runner universe. Most often the references have to with Russia during the period of the U.S.S.R. and its communist past.

- Homestarloween Party — Strong Sad dresses up as Mikhail Gorbachev, the final President of the Soviet Union.
- Email radio — Marzipan is reading a book titled Tolstoy Story 2, a portmanteau of Russian author Leo Tolstoy and the film Toy Story 2.

- 79 Seconds Left — In an Easter egg, a Russian version of the Water On The Knee Gumption Club poster is seen. The page title also refers to the viewer as "comrade", a form of address common in Russia from the Bolshevik era until the fall of the Soviet Union, and still used commonly in the armed forces.
