3D Realms is a company best known for its shareware games of the early '90s, when it was known as Apogee Software. Its games have been mentioned numerous times in the Homestar Runner body of work.

- Email video games — The floppy disk container reads "Bio Menace".
- Experimental Film — One scene includes an ATM wearing a football helmet much like Commander Keen's.
- Email the paper — In the present day, the floppy disk reads "Rise of the Triad".
- Email email thunder — Homestar Runner's email address is "DJmankiewicz@homestarrunner.com", a reference to BJ Blazkowicz, the protagonist of the Wolfenstein series.
- 8-Bit is Enough — The Castle Poopenstein game is a parody of Wolfenstein 3D.
