Did you know that before you read this item?
What do you mean not obscure enough? Fish Sauce is completely unheard of in the Western World.
- Maybe fairly common among under-30, metropolitan types who cook Thai occasionally, but that's not everybody by a long shot.
He may have been simply referring to any sauce used on fish.
- I doubt it, since "Fish sauce" exists.

-* Unheard of in the western world?  Worchester sauce is a fish sauce (fermented anchovies) and much of greco-roman cooking involved a similar anchovie sauce.
