[edit] NES Endings Trivia Challenge

[edit] 4 September 2007

Avoid the Noid!
Where on homestarrunner.com has the main character of this game appeared?

Is Yo! Noid. Main character appeared on the alternate Halloween Costumes secret page. Heimstern Läufer 22:12, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Great jorb! Yep, Coach Z was thinking about dressing up as the Noid for Halloween in 2001, in The House That Gave Sucky Treats, as seen HR:halloween01.swf

[edit] 11 September 2007

Where in a Homestar Runner cartoon have this game's main character's weapons appeared? Hint 1: The main character's name is an anagram of the name of the "makers" of a potential tomb for Strong Bad. Hint 2: A band has composed a song about this entombment.

I'm not sure if I can take the credit for this one. When comparing this picture to Pokémon with an online friend, he pointed out which game it's actually from. Anyway, there was a bell in Homestar Presents: Presents. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 03:35, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
PS. Because of the source, I intentionally left the game's title off.

Yep, you've got the correct game in mind :) I don't think the bell sighting is quite right — if I'm not mistaken, there's not a visible bell in Homestar Presents: Presents... let me know if I'm wrong though. And let's see if someone else gets the game, and then I'll sort out to whom to give credit. Nice job, Jay and Jay's friend! Trey56 03:42, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh, right, that was Homsar's paintbrush. :p He actually has an account here, though he doesn't use it anywhere near as much as I do. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 03:44, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Um, The Adventures of Bayou Billy? I have absolutely no NES trivia knowledge, just a guess. And Jay, I'm pretty sure Pokemon was never a NES game. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 03:38, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
You misunderstand. I compared the picture to Pokémon with an online friend, and HE told me which game it REALLY came from, which, of course, wasn't Pokémon. I left off the game's title because I don't know if I should take credit. And no, it's not Bayou Billy. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 03:40, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Yup, not Bayou Billy. Keep trying! The hints should be helpful... Trey56 03:42, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

That game is none other than Little Samson, an obscure platformer. A pretty good one, at that. -GG Crono 03:47, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

You're so close it hurts! And you're right, this game is great! Trey56 03:48, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I got it, I got it. I just had a little...mental stnank. -GG Crono 03:48, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

BTW, this was the friend I mentioned. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 03:48, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Ooh, I see you fixed it — yep, it's Little Samson. Nice work, GG Crono! Anybody got the correct appearance of his weapons in the Homestar Runner body of work? Trey56 03:50, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
I think Jay did earlier. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 03:51, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Nope, not quite — Homsar's paintbrush makes a bell sound, but it doesn't count as bells "appearing". Trey56 03:52, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
No, I didn't. Hmm... Seasonal Sweaters? --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 03:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Teen Girl Squad Issue 7? --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 03:54, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Seasonal Sweaters is the one! Good work, GG Crono and Jay; I'll put you on my user page shortly. By the way, the answers to the hints were the following: One of Strong Bad's possible funerals involved preserving his body in a mason jar (about which Taranchula wrote a song). So the "makers" of the jar are "masons", an anagram of which is "Samson". Thanks for participating, everyone! Trey56 03:56, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
By the way, SMB, Teen Girl Squad Issue 7 was close, but the type of bell there is a school bell, as opposed to the style that Little Samson wields. Good guess! Trey56 03:58, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, like I said earlier, I stink at NES trivia, so my guesses are pure guesses. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 04:00, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
No problem — thanks for participating! Trey56 04:00, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 18 September 2007

What Homestar Runner character has dabbled in the occupation of the villain of this game?
That's easy. Homestar Runner was a jailer in Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon. wbwolf (t | ed) 17:02, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
By "occupation", I mean "career". Also, this one's probably straightforward, but what game is it? Trey56 17:13, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
The game is Donkey Kong Jr.... as for the career of the villian... Bubs? He's done all sorts of crazy crap... wbwolf (t | ed) 17:19, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
You've got the game, but your answer to the trivia isn't quite right — there's a more specific career and a Homestar Runner character who did quite a bit of it. Trey56 17:21, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
You know, I always thought he was a plumber, so that'd leave The Buttcrack Plumber... wbwolf (t | ed) 17:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Like Mario, Homestar was a carpenter in Hands On Deck. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:23, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Yup! Back in the day, Mario was originally a carpenter. Nice job, guys! Trey56 17:29, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 24 October 2007

Where has the name of this game's villain appeared (as text) on homestarrunner.com? Hint: the text is hidden in a recording. Hint 2: The text appears very close to someone with the male form of the name of "a really nice girl".
Dracula, the villain of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest has been mentioned in Malloween Commercial :-) Loafing 20:18, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
You've got the game right (nice work!), but I'm looking for the place where his name has visually appeared on homestarrunner.com. Keep try! Trey56 20:47, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Um, Count Longardeaux? From record book? Because they both have "Count" in their names? Please? Has Matt? (talk) 22:22, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Nice try! :D But there's a place where the name "Dracula" actually appears in print. Hint: it's deceptively easy... Trey56 22:55, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

The Adventure Gamers Interview! -Horrible Painting Chaos "77" story writer. 23:27, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Nope — that interview doesn't appear on homestarrunner.com! Keep try! Trey56 23:29, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

does it literally apeear in print on the website? -Horrible Painting Chaos "77" story writer. 23:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes sir! Trey56 23:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Malloween Commercial? Homestar-Winner (talk) 23:46, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
No, however, one of the scenes in that toon is set in the same location as the one where Dracula's name appears... Trey56 23:49, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't even notice that was the toon Loafing guessed. Sorry to waste your valuable time, Homestar-Winner (talk) 23:52, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

It's okay — my time is just like water. Trey56's time — why ever drink again? Trey56 23:58, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
I know it's when Marshie pops up form the ground in front of the tombstone, but I can't think, or even find, where it says "Dracula." -Horrible Painting Chaos "77" story writer. 02:15, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

after looking at the image, i think the picture is from castlevania 1. am i rite? if not, back 2 jamesnintendonerd. Slipknot6477 01:41, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Very close — it's Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (Loafing got the game above). But the associated trivia question is still up for grabs, if you still want to try that one!
By the way, the Angry Video Game Nerd (I think his Youtube account is jamesnintendonerd) did a review of this game. Thanks for participating! Trey56 03:11, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

japanese cartoon! Simon (male form of Simone, who is a really nice girl) is standing in front of Dracula's tomb (a cemetary was shown in Malloween Commercial) in the NES endings Easter egg that was the origin of this whole game! (Hence, deceptively easy.) — It's dot com 19:33, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

You are absolutely right — awesome job! Sorry to give out such a tricky question this time, but I thought it'd be a lot more fun than "where is this game referenced on homestarrunner.com". Anyways, that's all for the special Halloween Edition of the NES Endings challenge — thanks for participating, everyone! Trey56 19:42, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 6 November 2007

Which two Homestar Runner characters have dressed up like the protagonists of this game?

Well, I doubt that any of the H*R characters have actually dressed up as snowmen. There is a snowman dressed up as Pom Pom in A Holiday Greeting, and then there is Strong Sad dressed up as a snowman in Fall Float Parade, but more or less involuntarily ;-) Loafing 19:21, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Yep — you've got what I was looking for! And you're right: I probably could have worded the question better. At any rate, here's to 04 Glorious Seconds of Nunchucking Snowmen! Trey56 21:04, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

(1) Snow Brothers OptimisticFool 20:16, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Yessir! Trey56 21:04, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 1 April 2008

"Long neck, no hands, 100 legs, cannot stand. Born of a forest nest, Against a wall I rest." (1) Where in the game can you find this item, and (2) what Homestar Runner character resembles it?
Shadowgate is the game. You can find a broom, the answer to the riddle, in a room with a sphinx, and Marzipan looks like a broom. Heimstern Läufer 04:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Close enough — the riddle about the broom takes place in the sphinx room, but you actually get the broom in the mirror room. But you're close enough to win given all the April 1 confusion ;) Nice work! Trey56 04:29, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] French Subtitles

Just to clear things up: you just added spaces to my translations before exclamation points and question marks. I question, though, because both my sister, who speaks French, and my french teacher both type and write without those spaces. I live in America, my two resources who helped me both learned French in Quebec. Is there something different between France french and Canadian french? The Goblin!! 06:44, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey there — there are a lot of difference between Canadian French and French as spoken in France, but I don't know if this is one of them. I do know that this is something that Meuhcoin, a native speaker living in France thought was important. It'd probably be best to keep doing that for consistency with all the ones he's transcribed. By the way, I didn't know this either before he corrected me — they didn't teach it in my French classes either. If you feel like it, it's probably worth contacting Meuhcoin about, if you can get ahold of him. Hope that helps! Trey56 06:49, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Transcription

Thanks for taking notice to my hard work. I'm glad someone noticed. I'd really like someone to proofread those so they can be removed from the list, Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, I was carving my HSR-related pumpakin. But, thanks for noticing. Do you think you could proofread those? Thanks,Homestarmy Commando1

Absolutely — I'll be happy to proofread your transcripts for A Decemberween Pageant, Halloween Fairstival, and The Best Decemberween Ever. It might take me a day or two to have time to finish it, but I'll be sure to get it done.
By the way, which pumpkin did you make? Laters, Trey56 02:36, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
I made the one that's just the H*R logo. My pumpkin started drying up the day after I carved it, so the flimsy little star outline got all shriveled up and dissapeared. Other that that, it turned out gweat. Swarthily, Bubs's Concession Stand. Oops, I mean Homestarmy Commando1
Aw, peas. I finally had a chance to proofread your transcripts, so I popped in my strongbad_email.exe Disc Five, went to go look at the commentaries you transcribed, and realized that they're all on Everything Else, Volume 2. Which I don't have. So, I'm afraid I can't proofread them for you — sorry :( Trey56 00:08, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Don't feel too bad. The couple people I asked to proofread those said they didn't have that DVD, so I guess nobody has that Everything Else, Volume 2 DVD, I'll get someone to proof those. I was gonna do it myself, but I decided against it at the last minute(even though my dad's an English major). Thanks anyways, Homestarmy Commando1

[edit] Uploading pictures

I was wondering... how do you copy pictures from h*r toons and post them on the wiki? I'm creating a page and I need a certain picture on it. Please respond, Don't say jorb 101

Hi! Check out the "How to take a screenshot" section on Help:Image. Let me know if you have any other questions! Trey56 01:41, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I just have one more question: how do you organize userboxes? Don't say jorb 101

Good question. Put each one on a separate line, put {{userboxtop}} on a separate line above them all, and put |} on a line below them all. So, it should look like this:
{{userboxtop}}
{{userbox|...}}
{{userbox|...}}
...
{{userbox|...}}
|}
Hope that helps, Trey56 01:58, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] html URLs

If you would ever like to find those HTML files you posted in the sandbox, I pasted them here. Homestar-Winner (talk) 12:44, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I can also get them from this version of the Sandbox, so don't worry about keeping them on that page if you don't want. Also, just as a note for myself, this is just a version of HRWiki:Subtitles/Data with all of the sections in reverse chronological order. Trey56 22:26, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dansk!

Will you send a message to me? HAJ

Okay, I sent a test message. Welcome to the wiki! Trey56 21:29, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] thanks to you!

thank you for helping me. now for me to figure out how userboxes work User:Imdaman

I went ahead and fixed them — what I did was put each {{userbox}} on a separate line, put {{userboxtop}} on a separate line above them all, and put |} on a line below them all. Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any more questions! Trey56 18:24, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Music Video?

Hey Trey, would that musical part of the latest D-ween toon count as a music video? I'd really hate to do all that extra work, just to have it deleted and reformatted. I'm working on the page as we speak, so lemme know ASAP. Thanks, Homestarmy Commando1

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking... are you asking if the visuals should go on a separate page, like the Different Town Visuals? If so, then yeah, I think the visuals for the song wil probably end up at Happy Dethemberween Visuals... Trey56 14:10, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Thanks for the help. Sincerely, Homestarmy Commando1

[edit] Help a Newbie?

Yo trey, i probably just overlooked this at some point in time, but how do I make my username appear in different colors or with pictures like yours? -GardenBoy 20:49, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey there, GardenBoy — check out Help:Signature for help setting up a signature (and see also HRWiki:Signature for some restrictions to keep in mind while making it). Let me know if you have any questions while you're working on it! Trey56 20:53, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the help! By the way, what do you think? -GardenBoy 21:45, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
What the heck? I saved what I did! -GardenBoy 21:46, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Oh, forgot to do the preferences thing. Be right back... -GardenBoy 21:48, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Sigs FTW!!! -G a r d e n B o y {Talk · Edits} 21:54, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
I really like the way it looks! The "Edits" link sticks out of the required size a bit: Let me see if I can think of a way to easily fix it. Trey56 22:12, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, actually, it doesn't seem to affect the spacing of text around it:
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. G a r d e n B o y {Talk · Edits} Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.
So, I think you're good to go — nice work! Trey56 22:19, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Ooh, last suggestion: if you want to make it so that the underlines don't stick out of the sigbox, you could change it to
G a r d e n B o y {Talk · Edits}
which looks like it should fit:
Hope that helps, Trey56 22:27, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
I really apreciate it. a-pree-kee-ate. Whatever.-G a r d e n B o y {Talk · Edits} 22:31, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] E-Doughnut

Remember when you told me the song from Happy Dethemberween was gonna be the Quote of the Week. You said "I bet you one e-doughnut it's gonna be the Quote of the Week." BONK! You owe me 1 e-doughnut.--ONESTOP 21:43, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

But we haven't gotten a new Quote of the Week yet! I realize we might not get one this week, but if the next one they publish is not the Happy Dethemberween song, I will hold true to my promised e-doughnut :D Trey56 22:08, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Userbox instructions

Hey Trey, sorry to bother you again, but is there a page with instructions on making userboxes, or whatever those "This user is a slice of pie" things are? Thanks in advance, -G a r d e n B o y {Talk · Edits} 22:13, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Yup: check out HRWiki:Userbox. Trey56 22:15, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
How do I keep missing these things? Also, I just read your welcome text and my birthday is April 15th too! How weird is that? Thanks again. -G a r d e n B o y {Talk · Edits} 22:21, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Ha — happy Tax Day! By the way, I thought of one last suggestion to make your sig perfectly adherent to the size regulations (see above). Laters! Trey56 22:27, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Signature (Lux Acerbus)

Hey, seein' as how you're a sysop, I'm hoping you can figure out what's wrong with my sig. First of all, the nowrap command or whatever it is that keeps my sig from breaking up into two lines seems to be making it push it outside the border of discussion pages like so. In addition, the timestamp keeps showing up in one of those weird little blue boxes with the dotted line around it instead of the usual plain text fashion. I don't know what the crap I did, but if you have any suggestions, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks! ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 03:52, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

I fixed the second of the two issues you mentioned (there was a missing </span> tag at the end of it). I'll look into the first issue (the border violation problem) and see if I can figure anything out. (Though maybe fixing the one issue fixed that one as well). Trey56 04:23, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I figured it out. The reason that's happening is the "--" you put before your signatures. If you put the -- inside the no-wrap tag, like this:
<span style="white-space: nowrap">--...</span>
then you won't see your signature bleed over the edge like that. I'm not sure if you want it to be part of your signature or not, but at any rate, that's where the problem is. But unless it really bothers you, I wouldn't worry about it: it's not a policy violation or anything. Hope that helps! Trey56 04:54, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WANTED

You still need to give me an e-doughnut. You have 3 days from January 15.--ONESTOP 23:37, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

*sigh* You're right. Okay, here it is. Trey56 11:10, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Oop?

You removed my vote? I thought non-users could vote. I'm a user on the fanstuff. Why can't I use that account? It'd be nice if I could. I don't really want to get an account here, 'cause I'm not gunna be editing stuff much here. Still Ben, Ben. (70.54.13.39 17:45, 22 January 2008 (UTC))

Nope, unfortunately only logged-in users may vote. From HRWiki:STUFF#instructions, in the "Notes about voting" section:
You must be logged in when you vote. Votes cast by anonymous users do not count, and your vote will be deleted, even if you have an account. If you do not have an account, take a second to create one. It won't bite you.
So, unfortunately, if you want to vote, you'll have to create an account over here. It's okay if you don't plan to use it for anything else. Hope that helps, Trey56 17:50, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Trey, my main man, my ace in the hole, I'm gonna level with you.

I have been tinkering around with my sig for about a weeks now, and I'm still having a small issue that the Help page isn't fixing: I would really like the images on either side of my name to link to my Talk and Contributions, respectively. Even using your sig as a model, what ends up happening is it says {{image}} in the external link blue.Flashfight. I came to you because solving promblems seems to be something you're especially good at. I thank you in advance for your time and patience with me. Flashfight 16:37, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey there. Yeah, this can be tricky. Fortunately, there's now a cool template that does this for you: {{imagelink}}. To use it, type {{imagelink|link=PAGENAME|image=FULL_IMAGE_URL}}, replacing "PAGENAME" with the wiki page you want to link to (e.g., "User talk:Flashfight") and replacing "FULL_IMAGE_URL" with the full URL of the image you want to link to (e.g., http://www.hrwiki.org/images/thumb/4/4d/Flashfight_Medal_Green.PNG/12px-Flashfight_Medal_Green.PNG) To get the URL for the small version of the image, just right-click on it and pick "Open image in new window", or whatever the option's called.
Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions! Trey56 17:28, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok, everything seems to be working well, the only promblem is that I can't get the URL for the thumbnail of either picture (thanks for the URL of the medal...helped a lot). I'm using FireFox if that's relevant. When I right click on the thumbnail of the Cheat Commando, but it's just taking to the Upload log page, not the thumbnail page that the URL you gave. And I think you again for your patience. Flashfight 18:19, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... some sort of "open image in a new window" option should come up if you right-click (or CTRL+click on a Mac), but in case it doesn't work out for you, here's the URL for the other image: http://www.hrwiki.org/images/thumb/b/be/Flashfight.PNG/19px-Flashfight.PNG — Hope that helps! Trey56 19:50, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok, it was the "open in new window" thing...I've got it, thanks 1*10^10 Flashfight 20:36, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
No problem. And it looks like the links are working — good work! Trey56 22:54, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Telltale banned from the forums here

Heya, I was wondering if you have the power or the connections to unban the Telltale offices from the HR Wiki Forums. Not sure how that happened, but we're all looking forward to reading about our game :) The IP is 208.106.40.170. some of us have been using tunnels or alternate public IPs to get around it, but that's less than ideal. --Tabacco 21:41, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

I've notified the people who can possibly do something about this, so hopefully it's easily fixable. I'll let you know as soon as I find out more. By the way, the game looks great, and I'm loving all the inside references in the trailer! Trey56 21:46, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Woo thanks! The new stuff that we haven't quite gotten around to getting online should (hopefully) be equally entertaining. --Tabacco 21:54, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Well that was quick. Looks like we're in! --Tabacco 21:55, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
[Edit conflict] I've unblocked the IP. I can't find any information as to why it was blocked in the first place. Cheers. — It's dot com 21:55, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Great! Let us know if you need anything else, and keep up the good work! Trey56 21:56, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User talk page blanking

Trey, the edit on my user talk was me, I just forgot to log in. I'm simply cleaning it out, ok? But thanks for your concern, User:ChipwichChipwich 23:01, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Okay, no problem. Just making sure somebody wasn't going around blanking your page. Trey56 23:24, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Excellence in Discussion.

Be proud, you earned it!

Trey, it is my esteemed honor to award you with this, the second Medal for Excellence in Discussion! There are few people on The Wiki as committed to consensus building as you, but that is not the primary reason for your awardation. Over the year or so that I have been contributing, I have seen no one as patient or understanding with new users as yourself. Truly, it is your calm, level-headed discourse that serves as the model for civility in Talk Pages. When so many of us fall into unfortunate patterns of edit-wars and frustration, it seems that there are few who seem to conduct themselves with more tact and professionalism than you. It is an honor to award you this small token of my appreciation for keeping our little Knowledge Base a little more civil. Flashfight

Wow, thanks a lot! That's nice of you :) Trey56 15:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks For the Welcome!

It makes a nice change to turn up at a wiki and get the feeling you're in an actual community, not an nedlesscluster of faceless ones. :P Beleive me, thoguh, I'm not that experienced - I mostly footer about on the edge of things to hide my poor wiki markup ski11z. I cheated my way through the double redirects. :) Seriously thoguh, thanks again, and i'llsee you around. Scanna 05:48, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

No problem :) Trey56 05:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] You are an okay guy

Dear Trey, I just wanted to stop by and remind you of what an okay guy you are. I mean that sincerely. — It's dot com 23:09, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks — and also with you :) (for reals) Trey56 23:22, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Put them back please

Okay, if I use to many tags, could you fix them? Or teach me how? I didn't know how that would kill anyone, and I STILL DIDN'T WRITE DEM DOWWN!!! GRRR! Little heart, MichaelXX2

Okay, here's what you do:
  1. Look at my edit of your user page to see what templates I removed. The templates are the ones that appear in double curly braces, like {{SBCG4AP}}.
  2. Go to the corresponding template page by typing "Template:" and the name of the template in the search bar (e.g. Template:SBCG4AP).
  3. When you get to that page, click "edit" to view the source. Highlight and copy all the stuff in between {| and |}. In most cases, this will give you the template without any of the categories.
  4. Paste that where desired on your userpage.
  5. Check the very bottom of your saved userpage to make sure that there are no categories listed.
Hope that helps, Trey56 15:52, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Comedic timing

What is comedic timing?personally i thimk it is onl significant fotr developing coach Zee but whatever. Talk at you later ME Physicsguymonsterman 16:39, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Comedic timing are pauses and little nuances that made when trying make a joke, or be funny. It's like the short pause between the false statement and ...NOT! in Not! Jokes. Without them, it's very hard to be funny. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:09, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess you're commenting on the last sentence I wrote in the FA writeup for A Jorb Well Done. Comedic timing is one of the things that sticks out to me when I watch the toon, but I suppose it's debatable. Trey56 17:31, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Didn't mean to cramp your Style

Sorry, I didn't notice that you're the official Dev Blog picture uploader. :) -DAGRON 03:14, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Not at all! I accidentally uploaded over your image without realizing one already existed there, and I tried to delete my revision so that your name would appear in the file history. Unfortunately, one can only delete previous revisions. If you want, feel free to upload it again and I can fix it :) Trey56 03:16, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Making my Sandbox experiment a subpage

Am I allowed to make what's currently in the Sandbox a subpage of mine? It would be used to help me with transcripts and such, plus it's pretty funny, but I'm worried about getting a message on my talk page about it not serving the wiki. What do you think? -Brightstar Shiner 22:14, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

If you want to have a sandbox subpage for working on transcripts, experimenting with wiki code, and stuff like that, that's fine, but simply archiving the current sandbox in a subpage wouldn't satisfy the subpage requirements. (And remember, you can always save a link to the current version of the sandbox if you want to look at it later.) So, use your best judgment. Hope that helps! Trey56 22:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the help, Trey. What I'm probably going to do is make a personal sandbox (I still can't think of what to call it ^_~) and save a link to that version of the main sandbox. I still have a fair amount of templates, wiki code, and format to learn, so having a personal test area will be a good idea. See you later, -Brightstar Shiner 22:30, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I can has

a birthday? Loafing 10:46, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, 27. Very Weird Al-ish. Homestar-Winner (talk) 12:22, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Huzzah for a birthday! May twenty-seven treat you well. I'd comment on what it's like, but I only have twenty-three days of experience with it, myself. Heimstern Läufer 18:49, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Joyeux Anniversaire, Trey! I can't tell you what 27 is like, but I'm sure you'll survive. -Brightstar Shiner 19:09, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I can't tell you what 27 is like I can! And next year I can tell you what 28 is like! But I can't tell you what being a dad is like. Happy Birthday and Happy Father's day! --Stux 21:00, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, guys! It's been a nice day :) Trey56 00:58, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Signature question

Trey56 I have a question. How do you get a character icon next to your name? Pacoman 14:44, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Pacoman. Check out Help:Signature, which has instructions about creating a signature. Of particular interest to you may be the sections about adding an image to your sig and making these images link to your user page. Let me know if you have any more questions! Trey56 12:57, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Beck

I just want to point out that some of the lyrics to the song "Loser" by the musician Beck are: "Soy un perdedor, I'm a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?" I don't think User:Beck was making any personal threats. Being disruptive? Yeah.. but, not threatening. OptimisticFool 17:35, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I understand that they're the lyrics to that song, but there's a difference between randomly quoting song lyrics and changing them to refer to killing specific users and posting this on their user talk pages. Was the user in question actually going to carry out these threats? Probably not, but it's not my job to figure that out; talking about killing people on their talk pages is just not okay. I saw no indication in his semi-disruptive edit history that he intended to be a constructive contributor, so blocking the account seemed to be the appropriate course of action. Trey56 19:36, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay. I don't know the guy; it doesn't impact me if he's blocked. But he really started out making edits in good faith. Then, yeah, he redirected the sandbox to his talk page.. but if I had thought of that, I might have done the same thing just to be funny. And then he posted nonsense on a couple user pages with "why don't we kill [so and so]" and without so much as a block warning, or a revert with an explanation, he got blocked for all eternity. His infinite block just seemed out of place, and out of sequence from the norm. I think we should give him a chance. OptimisticFool 20:17, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
There's one more thing I should have mentioned above: Beck is the latest alias of a repeatedly-blocked user (see Shake, Red, and Jerry for some recent incarnations in the series). That's the real reason that this user was blocked so quickly; if he were just some random new user, I would have gone through the typical steps of warning, etc. Trey56 20:35, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
That's a horse of a different color! In that case, everything is awesome. =] OptimisticFool 20:46, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, cool. And thanks for the initial post, by the way: accountability is a good thing :) Trey56 20:49, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Cheat background

How do you get that The Cheat background on your profile? --Nosyandsmall 14:36, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi there — each of those Cheat Commandos is one of the Quote of the Week Character Heads images. They have transparent backgrounds, so they blend in nicely with whatever background you pick. I stole mine from the HRWiki:The Stick page, if I recall correctly. You can view the source for my page here, and you're more than welcome to take and modify anything you like. Have fun! Thanks
