[edit] PNGs
Making a PNG is easy enough, if you have MS Paint. When saving the image, click "Save As..." and find PNG in the drop-down "Save As Type" list. Simple as that! --DorianGray 21:49, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Wow, I didn't know that. Now I can upload pictures like a true Wiki Addict!-- Super Martyo boing! 21:51, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Or you could get Irfanview. It's way easier then MS Paint! Sam the Man 22:01, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Wait, he has W98 I believe, and Paint for 98 does not support png IIRC. I use Microsoft Photo Editor to convert to png myself on a W98 puter. - Qermaq - (T/C) 22:16, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Irfanview is the program my school uses. It has some Photoshop elements in it, it is easy to crop, and it is entirely free. I recommend Irfanview, dude. I did for Sam and he loves it. Hope this helps (any), TheYellowDart—(t/c) 22:21, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Using Show Preview
Hello Homestarmy Commando1, I see that you have made several consecutive edits to the same page. I want to point out the Show Preview button. It's right next to the Save Page button when you edit. You should use it whenever you are making a lot of experimental edits, for example when you are trying to get formatting right. Using the Show Preview button is quicker and easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and will keep recent changes and page histories from being flooded. Thanks, DeFender1031 01:42, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Names of pictures
Now that you're 13, you can put real pictures of yourself. (You already did.) You may want to rename them like [[Image:Commando1 in a car.PNG]] or something like that. Keep on workin' hard, Sam the Man
[edit] Too Many Images
Hello, Homestarmy Commando1, I see that you are getting to know the wiki. One problem I have seen is that you are uploading too many images. You are entitled to only two personal images and one sig image. All of the other images that you upload must be relevant to the wiki, and be used in some way. (Some of your images are not used for anything right now.) Once you have decided your personal and sig images, you should tag them appropriately. for more information, go to HRWiki:Personal_images and HRWiki:Image_use_policy.
I'm sorry if I sound rude, I don't mean it. (I like how eager you are to contribute to the wiki, you just need to read a little bit more about standards.) Bye! - Saddy Dumpington 20:57, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yup, no big deal, but you've got five personal images:
- According to HRWiki:Personal images, we're allowed two personal images (plus a small one if you want to have one in your signature). So, just let me know which three of the five above you want to abandon, and I'll take care of it.
- On a side note, I noticed on your user page that you're from Livonia — I'm originally from Livonia's next-door neighbor, Redford! (I live in Chicago now, though) Anyway, thanks, and talk atcha later! Trey56 21:02, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- What about Image:State_Flag.png and Image:Homestar_psp.png? I could upload a larger version of Michigan's State flag [1], and incorporate both into userboxes at HRWiki:Userbox. — Saddy Dumpington (Talk | contribs) 21:58, 22 April 2007 (UTC) (left unsigned)
Hey there, Homestarmy Commando1, and thanks. I went ahead and deleted Image:IMG_2434.jpg, Image:IMG 2617.jpg, and Image:Sucky_treats.png. Also, it looks like Saddy Dumpington added Image:State_Flag.png and Image:Homestar_psp.png to HRWiki:Userbox, so those no longer count as your personal images.
So, right now you have only one personal image uploded, Image:Commando1 with HSR's beanie.jpg. You are free to upload another one at any time, as well as a small one for your signature, should you ever desire to do so. Thanks again! Trey56 21:39, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Little questions
Hey there, Homestarmy Commando. I see you have some questions that you want to be answered.
- That "little vertical line" should be right below the "Backspace" key on your keyboard. Just hold "shift" and press that button and you get fancy little |'s!
- What exactly do you mean by deleting your uploaded images? Do you mean your personal images, like the one with you in the car at the top of your page? If you want personal images to be deleted, you can just put {{delete|User request}} or something similar on the image. A sysop should deal with it. If an image is important to the wiki project, however, why would we want to delete it?
- By archiving pictures, I assume you mean keeping a record of the pictures you've uploaded. To do this, you could simply find the images you've uploaded and put them on your userpage in a gallery. See Help:Gallery for information on how do do this. Or, if the images are clogging up your page, you could create a subpage along the lines of User:Homestarmy Commando1/uploaded images and keep a record of your images there.
- Sorry, I don't have the DVD, so you'll have to ask someone that does. However, you could try reading the DVD commentary transcripts to find out who said what.
Please tell me if I misinterpreted one of your questions or if you need more help. — Has Matt? (talk) 15:09, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sig
Hey, Homestarmy. I'm afriad to say that your sig is too big. It has to fit in this box:
As you can see, it's a little past the borders. Suggestion: remove the picture, but you can do whatever you want. Thanks. -Zerlock1124
- Uhh, Zerlock1124, no it's not. Sam the Man 00:08, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- it hangs outside the box...maybe i'm just crazy? Or maybe your server doesn't pick up the picture. I dont know. All I know is that i see the sig hanging outside the box-Zerlock1124
[edit] Signature Help
Sorry for the late reply. I tryed to figure it out for an hour but just couldn't do it. Tjis is all I could do: hrwiki.org/images/0/0e/Hot_Wheels_logo.png/20px-Hot Wheels logo.png Homestarmy Commando1 Try asking Trey56 for the answer. He helped me with mine Great, now I'll never become a sysop at this rate. Sam the Man 20:54, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- I know how to get it working. You must put
<span class="plainlinks">[http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/User_talk:Homestarmy_Commando1 http://www.hrwiki.org/images/0/0e/Hot_Wheels_logo.png]<span>
in place of where you have the code for your image, and it'll look like . If you want it to link to anywhere besides your talk page, just edit where it says "User_talk:Homestarmy_Commando1". If you have anymore, you can ask me. Cheerio, Homestar-Winner (talk) 12:24, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi, saw your note regarding help. One thing you should know - the font you are using isn't a common one as far as I'm aware. That means your sig will be seen by most users in the default font for the site, and that's why it might not seem long to some but does to others. I don't have the font "stop" and so I see it in the normal font for the site, and yep, it's too long.
As far as shrinking the image and allowing it to be a link to your talk, that's a little complicated. The easiest thing and best way is to resize it in a graphics program. I assume this is your personal image you've uploaded. If that's not possible, then you could create an HTML link and include in the img element a style statement indicating the size you want. I don't have time to put together an example, but if I can't later plenty of people here know HTML and CSS. That might be a good way to test what size is best, then after you know, resize the pic and re-upload.
However, I'm thinking that image is SO small shrinking it further might not look good at all. You have a long name and a long image, and that's going to be tough. If by late tonight no one else has supplied you with sample code for the HTML link I'll try to then. - Qermaq - (T/C) 22:22, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. Bad news. According to this Wikipedia help page, the elements <a> and <img> are not allowed. I didn't even have to nowiki them, they just plain do nothing. So that option is out. The only option that'll work is reducing the size of the image. I recommend a width approximately half what it is now. Sorry if I got your hopes up, I was sure I could find a trick but that's simply not possible. - Qermaq - (T/C) 02:17, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey there, Homestarmy Commano1. It is indeed possible to make a smaller version of your sig image and still have it link to your talk page. For example, suppose you want the image to be 20 pixels in width but have it link your talk page. Follow these steps:
- Call the image in the most basic way with the desired width:
, which produces - Right-click on the above image and select "open image in a new window" or whatever it's called on your computer.
- Copy down the image URL from the address bar:
http://hrwiki.org/images/thumb/0/0e/Hot_Wheels_logo.png/20px-Hot_Wheels_logo.png
- Combine this with the link to your talk page with the plainlinks class:
<span class="plainlinks">[http://hrwiki.org/index.php/User_talk:Homestarmy_Commando1 http://hrwiki.org/images/thumb/0/0e/Hot_Wheels_logo.png/20px-Hot_Wheels_logo.png]</span>
, which will produce
That's it! Let me know if you have any questions. Trey56 03:42, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry...
Sorry I didn't respond to your sig question, but I was at running practice. I see someone else answered your question. If you do have any more questions, you can still ask me. I usually will answer any questions someone asks me if I'm not away for the week. Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:42, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Userbox
Hey, how did you get the text on your profile to wrap around your userbox? I tried to get it to do that but the text always ended up below the userbox. -Zerlock1124
Hey thanks. And by the way, no one has ever asked me to make a userbox for them, so, I might shut down the business that I never had going. -Zerlock1124
[edit] Commentary transcripts
Hey there — Saw you working on the DVD commentary transcript for Halloween Fairstival — nice job! I'd totally forgotten about all the unfinished trascripts, so I just wanted to let you know that your work on one today was appreciated! Laters, Trey56 06:56, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Aw, peas. I finally had a chance to proofread your transcripts, so I popped in my strongbad_email.exe Disc Five, went to go look at the commentaries you transcribed, and realized that they're all on Everything Else, Volume 2. Which I don't have. So, I'm afraid I can't proofread them for you — sorry :( Trey56 00:09, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Go Coach Z!
Oh, hi! My name is H4H(hooray4homestar). I just wanted to say that Coach Z is my favorite character, too! Also, I'm happy for you about that email from the Brothers Chaps. I've been trying to get them to answer an email from me forever! Unfortunately, they haven't answered. But, way to go on your email! Anyway, if you want to, check out my user page, and I really liked yours. Hooray4homestar 00:44, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Personal Images Again
Hey, looks as though you have one too many personal images.
- Image:Commando1_with_HSR's_beanie.jpg
- Image:Count_to_purple_backwards.png
- Image:Xbox360-logo-image.jpg
- Image:Hot_Wheels_logo.png (small)
One of the first three needs to go, sadly. - Qermaq - (T/C) 06:12, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Qermaq,
- I kinda intended the "Count to Purple" one to be for public use for the userbox, but if it's gotta go, it's gotta go. I'll just modify the userbox to say "#PURPLE" instead of the image.
- Sincerly, Homestarmy Commando1
- You're right, actually; that image should not be marked as personal, as it's linked from an HRWiki-namespace page. This puts you under the limit, so we're OK. Heimstern Läufer 21:49, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] technology commentary
Hey there, Homestarmy Commando1! I've noticed you marked the commentary transcript for technology as in progress, but you haven't edited it since the 10th. Are you still doing it? If not, you should remove the template. -- Super Martyo boing! 02:52, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I noticed that too. I was working on it, then some really important stuff came up and I totally forgot about it. I should hopefully have it finished by wednesday. Homestarmy Commando1 09:40, 18 August 2008 (EDT)
