Welcome to The Homestar Runner Wiki!
Hello, and welcome to The Homestar Runner Wiki! This is the best place, as you've probably noticed, to learn about anything and everything Homestar Runner. There are a couple of things you should read up on before you really start jumping in and editing -
- Take a look at the Wiki Standards to see how things work around here.
- Read up on how to edit at the Editing Help section.
- Read the FAQ.
- Read the MediaWiki User's Guide.
- If you're looking for more interaction with the users, our Chat Channel is always available, and we also have a Wiki Forum.
- The Stick is a place where you can find out some projects to do or committees to join, if you choose to.
- If you're still confused, check out the Introduction page.
If you have any questions, ask them up in the HelpDesk or ask JoeyDay, or any other of the sysops or admins ('sysop' is just a special term for someone who watches over the wiki and has a few more rights than other users). I'm sure you'll catch on quickly, and all of the users are very nice here. Feel free to delete this message when you're done reading it, and I hope you stick around and join our team. Have fun! – Pertmywert (Talk·Edits), The Homestar Runner Wiki Welcoming Committee
Wilde Coincidence?
Your name is a reference to The Picture of Dorian Gray, is it not? And furthermore, does that indicate that you identify with the character Dorian Gray, or are you just a fan of the book/movie/story/author? If you are referencing the novel, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. I'm a big Oscar Wilde fan myself, and I wrote an essay on The Picture of Dorian Gray for Philosophy class, back in June. -Polly 07:47, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, I've been trying to find the novel to read. I only know about Dorian Gray from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen film. I like reading the background of such things, which is why I want the novel. I haven't yet had an oppurtunity to get to the library yet, and it's never in at the bookstore...
- EDIT: I got my mum to check the book out for me instead. All is well. --DorianGray
Sorry for the edit
Ya sorry, that was pretty stupid of me, I just wanted to see if anyone would notice and change it. I promise nothing of the sort will happen again.
- That's quite all right. No lasting harm done, and it was all taken care of quickly. Thanks for apologising, though. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time here. ^-^ --DorianGray
Moved examples into list
I hope it's okay, but on Talk:Ice Cream I went ahead and moved your examples into the list itself and put a note on it so others will edit it as they see fit. If you want, repost with your opinion on whether it should be a running gag. — It's dot com 03:48, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, of course it's fine. Anything for the good of the wiki, yeah? --DorianGray
England
Have a good trip! Never mind the bullocks! — It's dot com 03:30, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- England, huh? That's quite the trip you're taking. Hope it's a good one. We'll try to keep the wiki afloat during your absence, but it will be tough. Have a good time. —BazookaJoe 03:30, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Away Message Song
I'll be away in England for the next three weeks, y'all. Sorry. To make up for my not being here to help the Wiki, I offer you this away message song. Yes, it's the same 'Believe It Or Not' song that Homestar and George Costanza have sung to before.
Believe it or not,
I'm away from the comp,
So leave a message just for me.
I must be out, or I'd IM you back.
Where could I be?
Believe it or not, you're alone!
Please, hold your applause. --DorianGray
- Well, Seany-sama, how was England? If you're from Pennsylvania, how come you spell favorite "favourite"? I'm from Texas, one of your other favou—I mean, favorite places. — It's dot com 22:28, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I spell everything the English way coz, well, coz I'm so hung up on England. Originally, though, it was a side effect from visiting Neopets and it's just stuck with me. And all those other reasons about it actually being the real and correct spelling and all. And as for England itself... Well, to tell the truth, it's not so different from here, except for the television programmes, when you get right down to it. But, despite being faintly similar, it was a total blast.
- Did you go to the tower, or the abbey, or the palace? Did you ride the Eye? The last time I was there, I got to drive a car by myself through the cities and highways of Scotland. That was fun, and not just a little weird being on the wrong side of the road. — It's dot com 23:57, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Me, I didn't really do much of anything a normal tourist does. I went up to stay with my friend, who I met a couple years ago online. We've been planning this forever. I stayed at her house up in Nottingham, so most of the sights I saw were generally A) really cool and loud, 2) around the general Nottingham area, and D) more "fun" than "historic" or "tourist-y". My mum and sister did the whole bus-tour thing throughout England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and even nipped down to France for a day, though. But I was more content to stay with my best friend than go sightseeing.

Sound Effects
I think it's great you're spearheading this project. Look at the formatting changes I just made (putting each table cell on a new line and a space after the align=center part). I think that makes the code easier to read. Also, be sure to link every instance in the last column. A user shouldn't have to search up and down the list for a link. — It's dot com 17:31, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- All right. Thanks for the advice (and the help). And I just like making lists. I have tons of similar lists on my computer (none are H*R related, though). --DorianGray
Secret
Yes, it does. I was wondering if someone would see that. you win. --— talk Bubsty edits 20:41, 25 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Synonyms
Um, have you been known to collect synonyms? I saw that in your entry. --The 386 00:31, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- For some things. Synonyms are useful if you write a lot. That way, you don't come off as boring by repeating yourself. --DorianGray
So, we all know that. But do you REALLY do that for a livin'? --The 386 00:33, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- Currently, I don't do anything for a living. I do it as more of a hobby. --DorianGray
Hobbies
I see. Why is that your hobby? --The 386 00:36, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- I think 'coz I'm weird like that' works best here. Anyway, I have a lot of hobbies, some of which I take more seriously. Some, like my synonym collections, are just for fun. --DorianGray
I think you're right. If you want, you can tell me about synonyms in my talk page. --The 386 00:39, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- Well, aside from all those ones for regurgitation, I only collect synonyms for 'crazy'. You can see them all here. --DorianGray
I remember learning that in school. But don't you want to tell me about it in my talk page? --The 386 00:57, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- Well, I figure we're already here... Would you like me to move the discussion, then? --DorianGray
Uh, no. Just leave it here. --The 386 01:05, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- All right then. Maybe we can continue some other time on your page. But for now, I'm gonna go... Place. --DorianGray
Okay then. I'll try to log on tomorrow. But till then, I'm outta here! --The 386 01:13, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Note
You asked for a note encouraging you to do that work on the Videlectrix games. I have left such a note here. See also the bit about the music. Thanks for being willing to do this. — It's dot com 05:05, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- Willing, yes... Unfortunately, by the time I got here, it seems someone already added all the music links (although I was able to make a few minor corrections). As to the other bit... D'you want me to just include a new "Official Videlectrix Description" section in each game, or what? --DorianGray 16:55, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, whatever you think is best. — It's dot com 17:26, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- Looks like someone beat me to the punch there, too. I did get to do some minor formatting, though... Ah, well. Next time, I won't get 12 hours sleep before starting a project. --DorianGray

Thank You
Thanks, Dorian. I didn't even notice it happened. — Lapper (talk) 17:11, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- You're welcome. Any time. Just remember: CONSTANT VIGILANCE. (And if you know that quote, you get a cookie.) --DorianGray
Yeah! Thanks, dude. First time someone trolled my page :) — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:21, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- First time someone trolled my page too. But then, I was reverting all his edits, so it was to be expected. --DorianGray
Bottommost vote
Hey Dorian. This is a reminder that only your bottommost accept vote counts in STUFF. The one from the upper voting section has been removed. Please review this and make any changes if necessary. Thanks. (And thanks for voting for my revision. :) ) — It's dot com 03:02, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, okay. I didn't know that. First time voting for a revision... Keep it the way it is, with the vote at the revised version. --DorianGray
- As it turns out, I was persuaded that the revision was wrong, so I split the second half of it into its own item. You should review it an make a new vote accordingly. Sorry for all the confusion. — It's dot com 15:49, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oy. Complication upon complication, eh? And it seems such a simple fact... So, in essence, I voted the same way you did for both facts. Thanks for the heads-up. --DorianGray
- Yeah, how did it become such a mess? ;) One last thing (and I'm really not trying to bother you with all this)... Would you like to fix your vote in the archive? If so, then please do so. Just put a note in the edit summary to see your talk page. Or I could fix it for you. — It's dot com 17:17, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, please fix it for me. No one will question it if it comes from you, I've noticed. =3 --DorianGray
- I swear this is the last time I'll post on this subject on your talk page. After studying the evidence a little closer, it seems the drawing of Uncle Sam didn't come about until the 1830s. So I changed my vote to the revision. (Not that you have to vote the same way I do, but since we've been through it together this far, I thought it would only be polite for me to let you know I'd switched again. But I'm not switching any more... I hope.) — It's dot com 15:04, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
