[edit] Running Gag
I think I have stumbled onto something. I did some more searching...admitedly because I was tired of getting my fun facts deleted all the time...and with the aid of the handy dandy search engine, I realize this already is a running gag. TBC must really like ice cream. invisible robot fish
TBC have made refrence to ice cream in the following places. Edit this section as appropriate:
- In the Museum, there is a whole folder dedicated to Ice Cream.
- In island, Homestar asks "..is there ice cream yet" and Strong Bad picture Homestar as a bowl of ice cream.
- In the bet, Strong Bad threatens to punch the KoT if he doesn't get a lot of ice cream.
- In part-time job, Strong Bad reveals that he is part of the "Me and The Cheat Ice Cream Socials Club."
- In Bug In Mouth Disease, Homestarrunner eats the KoT's perscription ice cream.
- In secret recipes, he offers prank ice cream to Coach Z and Homestar.
- In Old Characters Page, The Homestarrunner is a terrific athlete that shares his ice cream.
- In Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 11.2, a foreigner wants to take Marzipan out for an ice cream date.
- There is a not-yet available Videoelectrix game Sundae Drivin', in which you can drive a bowl of ice cream.
- The two instances that started this whole discussion: the ends of lady...ing and kids' book.
First of all, invisible robot fish, good work compiling the original list. Secondly, I disagree. I think ice cream is simply a common item, and so it's natural that it would pop up from time to time. I don't see a true common thread between all these instances that would elevate this to a running gag. — It's dot com 03:32, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- I agree. Why if this is a running gag, then why not make candy a running gag.--bkmlb 03:46, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- If a common item, like ice cream, get to be a running gag than how about doors? There are alot of doors in Homestar Runner! Now for real. The Poopsmith is a goo.. Oh. Sorry. For real, such common and small itens you find in your everyday life simly cannot be a running gag. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 03:47, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- I think, perhaps, this has the beginnings of a running gag. About half the list is references to Strong Bad alone desiring ice cream. Perhaps it's another aspect of his 'hidden' personality (how many tough guys hang around Baskin Robbins, I ask you). If you look at it in this light, it's kind of funny. Funny and occurs often: that's pretty much the definition of 'running gag', if you get right down to it. --DorianGray
- It only occurs often becouse it is such a common food item. Who doesn't like ice cream? — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:26, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Pizza is also a popular food item, but is it used often on Homestar Runner? Rogue Leader / (my talk) 12:42, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Yes. Even more than ice cream. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 13:44, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Good point Good point E L Cool, I concede my point. Aparently its just a matter of pizza and ice cream are favorite foods of TBC. invisible robot fish

- Thank you, mr. Fish. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:31, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I know this is an old discussion, but the recent attempts to revive the page made me take a look at the talk page, and I just wanted to say that, if the argument here was that ice cream is like pizza, note that pizza does have a page. -132.183.151.139 20:48, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- We now even have a whole category of generic food and drinks. I think a page listing the appearances of ice cream would be an appropriate addition to the category (especially since some of them, like prescription ice cream, are unusual and interesting), as long as it's clear it's a list and not a running gag. — It's dot com 02:13, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with Dot com comment and Lucsar's attempt to restore the page. The original page dealt only with the sketchbook but the information presented now reaches further out. I would like to challenge current wiki editors to revert more carefully and understand what other editors are trying to do. More importantly, use talk pages more often when involved in disagreements of opinion, that's what they're for! --Stux 03:02, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] could they be real?
I know this sounds crazy, but my brother says he's eaten one of these once. I know, he could be mistaken, or insane, or even on drugs. But he is not known to tell likes like that and he's doing pretty well in school and stuff. Anyone know anything else about this topic? 70.59.187.173 23:42, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Of course not. Big in the summer of 1987? The characters were created in 1996. --Jay (Gobble) 23:59, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
There were ice cream bars made in that style that really existed, but not with the Homestar Runner characters, obviously. But I had similar ice cream bars when I was a kid. That might be what he was thinking of. --S
[edit] Merge?
Should we follow TBC's example and merge this with Sketchbook (museum)? - Joshua 22:48, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think a merge would hurt. It would make sense to people who didn't read the sketchbook until after the 2006 refurbishment. Bad Bad Guy 23:14, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- The page as it is needs to go. However, I noticed that (under the heading "Running Gag" on this page) there are several examples of ice cream besides what's currently in the article, and it would certainly improve the page to get them listed. But, I have to say that characters eating/talking about ice cream is not nearly as remarkable as other running gags like grapes, swiss cake rolls, melonade, etc. I'm on the fence. OptimisticFool 23:30, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Right now, the best thing I can think of comparing this to is retirement A and retirement B, which were merged along with the toons. Bad Bad Guy 19:27, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- On the other hand, those two were only separate for one week, while these were separate for years. Slightly different case, but it may still be good to merge this one (I'm still mulling this one). Heimstern Läufer 19:31, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Super Mario Popsicles
How are the Homestar Popsicles a reference to Super Mario Popsicles? They don't really look alike, and there's tons of other Popsicles based on cartoons. --Trogga 20:47, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 8-Bit Ice Cream Is Enough
One of Running Gags is in 8-Bit Is Enough The Copy Protector Riddle is: What is PAUL REVERE's favorite ICE CREAM FLAVOR?
[edit] myths & legends
Shouldn't the Bear-holding-a-shark frozen delights from myths & legends be included here? --Neumannz 01:50, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
