Ding! What are you supposed to be? is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

I know Wikipedia is prone to long article titles such as this, but can we shorten it to something like Costume confusion or something like that? — Lapper (talk) 20:53, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Let's get a group consensus, but I just couldn't think of anything else to call it. I like your suggestion. I R F 20:57, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
Or, if we keep the title, it at least needs a question mark. --DorianGray
I don't think you can have one in a URL, but i could be wrong I R F 21:04, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
You can have one in a wiki title, which will translate to some sort of code when put in a URL. See: How Do You Type With Boxing Gloves On? --DorianGray
Right. Definitely with the question mark. — It's dot com 21:19, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Finished all the Wikipedia links, added Sketchbook (museum) and de-stubed. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:16, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Featured?

Are you sure this article is "featured" material? It's very well written, but the article is sort of a stretch as it is, let alone to be the featured article. Maybe I'm just crazy. Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif) 07:57, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I think in some ways the fact that it's on a somewhat obscure element of the Halloween cartoons (which is nonetheless a constantly recurring theme in them) may have helped in be chosen as a feature: while our norm is to feature articles that document major themes, we like to show the obscure stuff, too. When I supported this article, my reasoning was that it sets up Halloween by introducing a recurring theme in Halloween cartoons. Heimstern Läufer 14:40, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm, seems like a pretty good idea. This is just sort of a fun page anyway. Or maybe I just think that because I dreamed that I said it last night. Man, I need to get a life. Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif) 23:18, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

better name

doesnt this page need a better name? Slipknot6477 17:30, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

I think it's fine. — Defender1031*Talk 17:32, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Also, look above, the idea for a shorter name was proposed and never got any support. — Defender1031*Talk 17:34, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

oh. now that i read it, that other name sounds better. Slipknot6477 17:37, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

I think "Who are you supposed to be?" could be a better name. Homestar-Winner (talk) 17:40, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Homestar. The other name from above is just bleh, but Who are you supposed to be? is good. — Defender1031*Talk 17:47, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Who are you supposed to be? doesn't really cover when characters dress up as something other than a person or think that someone dressed up as someone other than a person. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 20:05, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
I think "What are you supposed to be?" sounds kinda cool... HaldoHelscome!
I think this conversation is about a year old. --DorianGray 20:17, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Carmen Freakin Sandiego!!!

He was about to say Sandiego, NOT Miranda. He said it in the exact same style as he did with Sandiego. Just because Miranda happened first, does not mean he was going to refer to it. OK? Is it ok for me to even explain my reason *sarcasm*. *sigh* Im changing it--24.224.25.70 04:33, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

The transcript and everything else has him saying "Carmen-freaking-Mir-", as though he's about to say "Miranda". which mirrors a line from Homestarloween Party. And, that's what I hear, too. The toon is also old enough that, had this been wrong, it'd have likely been fixed by now. Unless the DVD version changed something. Beats me. -YKHi. I'm Ayjo! 05:51, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I really like your H*RWiki costume...

I think that there should be a "Hey X,I really like your X costume. It is clearly a running gag. It has been seen in most of the Halloween toons, D-Ween Short Shorts, and SBemails too. I think it has enough to make a full page. I also had no Idea where to post this so I thought it would be best to put it here. Geonightman 12:34, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Here is an (as far as I know) incomplete list of all of the "I really like" jokes. I think the page should have what Homestar thinks their costume is, what their costume actually is, on the bottom of course a VARIATIONS section, and possibly an explanation of WHY he thinks they are that costume.
  • The House That Gave Sucky Treats

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey Strong Bad, I really like your costume. The Spanish Inquisition? That's great.

  • 3 Times Halloween Funjob

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, Strong Bad, I really like your El Debarge costume.
HOMESTAR RUNNER: Say, Bubs, I really like your dirty man outfit.
HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, Coach Z, I really like your Wesley Snakes outfit.

  • Most in the Graveyard

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, Homestar, I really like your Carrot Top costume. {Homestar turns his head around} I'm not Carrot Top! I'm Crocodile Dundee!

  • Doomy Tales of the Macabre Teaser

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey everybody, I really like your covered all in black ink costumes. Kinda stole my idea, though. Don't you think?

  • Decemberween Short Shorts

HOMESTAR RUNNER ORNAMENT: Hey, Strong Bad, I really like your rhinestone cowboy costume.

  • Email yes, wrestling

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, Strong Bad. I really like your Rudy from Fat Albert costume. Geonightman 12:49, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
