A brilliant e-mail, filled with funny jokes and catchy songs. I especially admire the "Strong Bad In Love With The Wagon Fulla Pancakes" montage. Great stuff. - 82.37.217.206

Hellboy Funfact

24.58.1.117, if you insist on having the Hellboy funfact then you need to explain where it comes from. -YourFuzzyGod (sorry about not signing)

Yeah, I agree with YourFuzzyGod. Seriously, WHERE is the connection? Not all of us have read/watched Hellboy, so some kind of explanation would be nice. Shadow Hog 16:41, 10 Nov 2004 (MST)
We've not gotten any explanation. Therefore, I don't see why this thing is still in here; it's just too obscure for me to get, and I seriously doubt I'm alone.
Either way, I'll leave the code here for people to mull over. Shadow Hog 21:01, 18 Nov 2004 (MST)

*Homestar's pronunciation of "pamcakes" could be a reference to the comic (and movie) ''[[Wikipedia:Hellboy|Hellboy]]''.

Doesn't Coach Z say "The pamcake wins!" - i.e. echoing HR's mispronounciation? -- PrinceOfTown

-- I think so, I changed it.

Is this the best way to represent a montage?

Some of the scene changes are off slightly. At least one photo is missing from the end credits.

Uh, in the fun facts it says this is the first email to be written by a Hrwiki member. You guys should clarify that you mean the email itself, not Strong Bad's response, unless an HRWiki member actually wrote the script (which I doubt you meant).

Background of the spinning scene

I watched the e-mail again just now, and noticed the background of the scene where Strong Bad and the wagon are spinning around has been corrected to a bunch of blurred trees. I watched it several times when it first went up though, and I'm fairly certain it was static then. So I restored the fun fact.

Warning: Bad spelling ahead

Watered Down

Need the Watered Down fun fact be there? There's really nothing indicating that it is a reference to Watership Down in the slightest. (And as I've read the book about three times, I've noticed the lack of any real connection even more.) --TheNintenGenius 00:45, 14 Nov 2004 (MST)

I have nothing wrong with it having been removed. I had a problem with it being removed with no explanation to back it up, or any summary at all. That's the kind of Wiki-ing that we don't want.
That said, your reason works for me. Shadow Hog 17:45, 14 Nov 2004 (MST)

Question Mock

(Forgive the pun.)

From "Fun Facts:"

Strong Bad, who makes a point of criticizing every e-mailer's
spelling and grammar, makes a critical mistake here himself.
"Why don't you creat an alternate reality where you don't have to spell
correctly and I talk like this." should have a question mark, but it doesn't!

Since Strong Bad is trying to mock the e-mailer, I think his use of a period instead of a question mark was intentional. In the e-mailer's "alternate reality," proper punctuation could go out the door too. --oddtodd 21:31, 19 Nov 2004 (MST)

Even if this was unintentional, it doesn't strike me as a particularly fun fact. Mister Mister 18:53, 2 Dec 2004 (MST)

Downtown?

Are people really hearing "downtown" in the training song's lyrics? I originally had it as

It's a showdown going down
Now you're gonna mess around showdown

but it's been changed to "downtown" more than once. Mister Mister 18:51, 2 Dec 2004 (MST)

Ketchup

The ketchup Strong Bad pours on his french fries is the same ketchup from the easter egg in animal

Umm.. there is no ketchup in animal? The same ketchup has been seen though, in funny at least. -- Mithent 17:03, 9 Dec 2004 (MST)

Declined Fun Facts

These were on the STUFF page and declined. If you wish to contest the removal of any of these, post a comment here (make sure it won't be confused with any of the original votes).

hellboy (Declined)

"Pamcakes" might be referring to a two page story which appears in Mike Mignola's "Right Hand of Doom" graphic novel in the "Hellboy" stable. The 2004 film version also contains this mispronounciation of the word.

  • Decline--Just a Cleaver Homestarism. Mr. Sparkle
  • Accept. TBC were going to dress Homestar as Hellboy for halloween, so it's possible. --Trogga 10:43, 15 Jan 2005 (MST)

scoreboard (Declined)

The score board behind Homestar in the easter egg changes numbers even though it is not turned on.

  • Accept. I missed that somehow.. --MadEwokHerd 19:35, 28 Dec 2004 (MST)
  • Decline. In the transcript. --Upsilon
    • Comment The transcript does not note that the scoreboard is turned off. --MadEwokHerd 15:32, 30 Dec 2004 (MST)
      • Well, it says that the arena is dark, which implies it. --Upsilon
  • Slightly Decline The scoreboard may not be turned off. It may not be lit, so much as it displays the number. So, in theory, it could be on.

ketchup (Declined)

The ketchup Strong Bad pours on his french fries is the same ketchup from the easter egg in funny

  • Accept. Why not? --Upsilon
  • BALEET! TBC reuse images all the time! →evin290 16:58, 22 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Decline. Ketchup is ketchup is ketchup. That's like saying "The ketchup Strong Bad pours on his fries is the same ketchup Donald Trump likes on his." It's just ketchup. :P →jake-a-roonie 03:59, 17 Feb 2005 (CST)

Pants (Incorrect - corrected and added)

Homestar wears pants in the "Im The Best" Easter egg. This is possibly the first time Homestar wears pants.

  • Weak Accept: While it's not entirely fun, it is a fact. But please, check to see if this is really the first time he wears pants. -acekirby13
    • It's not. Check out the Halloween episodes. However, it's already on the montage page with the "besides Halloween episode" qualifier. --Jay 13:47, 15 Feb 2005 (MST)

Limozeen?

I saw the best thing sbemail, yeaterday, and recognized immeadietly that there was a connection with Strong Bad's show and the Limozeen Pilot episode for their cartoon show. I wrote it as an inside refrence, does anyone else see that connection? If not I will gladly take it off. If so I will add it to best thing's inside refrence list.

  • I removed this for two reasons: 1) It's a fast forward, not an inside reference. 2) I see no connection whatsoever, besides the fact that the Brothers Chaps made jokes about cancelled TV shows twice. I really should have stuff'd it, though, so I'll go do that...

"You're the Best" on South Park

If it wasn't for this e-mail, I probably wouldn't have recognized the song they used in the montages in the most recent episode of South Park (904, "The Losing Edge") - they used "You're the Best", and each time it played, I could only picture Homestar lying on the mat at the champeenship singing it. It was funny. --TheEggman 20:36, 9 Apr 2005 (MDT)
