Transcript

{A close-up of a bulletin board appears and remains for the entirety of the cartoon. A Limozeen poster, an advertisement for battle axe lessons, and a couple business cards are pinned to the board behind a large notice for Strong Bad's missing Lappy 486 computer. The notice also requests inquiries from guitarists.}

{A touch-tone telephone is heard dialing. The telephone line rings and Strong Bad's answering machine picks up}

STRONG BAD: Thank you for calling attractive Strong Bad. If you have any information regarding my missing and full-on favorite fold-em-up computer, please leave your name and number. And if you have any hot lixx, please shred them after the tone.

{The answering machine beeps}

STRONG SAD: {in a very deep, seemingly disguised voice} Hello, Strong Bad. I'm waiting for you. {coughs, and begins speaking in normal voice} Oh, excuse me! I had one of those spit bubbles stuck in my throat. Anyways, I'm waiting for you here at the bus station. I just got back from my trip to the Regrettable History Museum. And you were supposed to pick me up... 3 days ago! I guess I'll just be waitin' for you here at the staysh. Listen to me: I've been here so long I'm on a nickname basis with the bus station.

{The answering machine beeps}

{a distorted guitar plays clumsy licks, ending in a downward slide}

THE KING OF TOWN: Ow! In case your mind wasn't totally blown by that blathering solo, my name's "Furious Fingers," from Los Angeles. I'm from L.A.! I own seventeen guitars, with a combined total of forty-three necks. I can provide my own leather pants, and a really cool castle where we can shoot all our videos. Oh, and I also did not eat your laptop computer. Gimme a call, "Furious Fingers", "Ow", "Leather pants", "from L.A."

{The answering machine beeps}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {sounding exactly like Marzipan} Hi, Strong Bad. This is your next-door neighbor the crocodile. Can I borrow a cup of sugar? I'm going to make some puppy-dough cookies tonight... {coughs, switches to his own voice, coughs} Ooh! Got a spit bubble stuck in my throat. Anyway, Strong Bad, I was serious about the sugar. And... the crocodile thing.

{The answering machine beeps}

Easter Eggs

"A Trip to the Moon?"
  • When Strong Sad says "Regrettable History Museum", click on the picture of Lappy to see a postcard from the museum.
  • At the end, click on the yellow paper showing the left half of Dolph Hauldhagen to hear his answering machine recording.
DOLPH HAULDHAGEN: Thank you for calling Dolph Hauldhagen, the Instruc-TOR. How many times a day do you ask yourself, "Why do I suck?" I firmly believe that with my battle axe lessons, we can cut that down to two or three. Meet me Wednesday nights at 6 PM in Monty Gym. Oh, and leave your axe in your car until the Pilates class is over. Man, those chicks scare easy.

Fun Facts

Explanations

  • This toon was released one week following the SBEmail cliffhangers, where the Lappy was stolen.

Remarks

  • This toon doesn't have any "Back" button at the end.
  • Despite stating that his class is on Wednesday evenings at 6pm, Dolph's flyer in the toon still reads "Sat. 6am-9am".
  • The King of Town doesn't have any visible fingers, making "Furious Fingers" an interesting choice for his musical pseudonym.

Inside References

  • A Dolph Hauldhagen flyer, previously seen in other days, can be seen in the background.
  • The Limozeen poster is from the Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits CD booklet.
  • The poster in the top right corner with "Wednesday" on it is also featured on the CD booklet. It advertises "Strong Bad live in West Rekjavik".
  • The postcard in the Easter Egg is another reference to The Moon.
  • The leftmost tab on the missing Lappy flyer reads "strond bad," which was spelled that way in lunch special and Strongest Man in the World.
  • We first learned of the King of Town's guitar-playing abilities in another answering machine message: in Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 13.2 he "plays guitar, apparently" ("Not Talkin' Bout Butter").

Real-World References

  • When Strong Sad had a spit bubble in his throat, he sounded very similar to the Jigsaw Killer from the 2004 horror movie Saw.
  • A Trip to the Moon was a groundbreaking 1902 silent film by illusionist George Méliès.
