Redirect

There is nothing we can put in this page that isn't already sufficiently covered in The Next April Fools Thing. It doesn't need to be a separate page. The Knights Who Say Ni 04:16, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

According to the inclusion guidelines, "a H*R-specific item or location needs only one appearance in the body of work, as long as it played an important role in the plot or substance of the work". It seems that H*R-specific organizations fall most closely under that category than any of the others. As such, this would seem to qualify (albeit the page as it stands now is poorly written and sorely lacking). I say at least give the page a chance — Defender1031*Talk 07:57, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
I agree (and indeed, I would say we should update that item to include “organizations”. -166.137.252.107 13:46, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

I'm trying to find a predecessor page. We have pages like The Battle of Strong Badia and the All-Wide Science Fair for example; events that appeared in just one toon. We could make it like one of those, describing what kind of event it was and who attended. -- 68.37.43.131 10:58, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

This is more of an organization than an event, but that's fine too. A couple of similar Precedents: Broternal Order of Different Helmets, Team Kneepads, Wet Knee Gumption Club. — Defender1031*Talk 13:52, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
If LURN gets its own page then ABD does too. — 75.57.6.33 (Talk | contribs) 20:04, 21 June 2019 (UTC) (left unsigned)
I concur with DeFender and anony. While it's sorta weird in the grand scope of Wikis, HRWiki has had a long history of pages for one-off organisations and the sort. I think this deserves a page. - Catjaz63 20:51, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Now that this has been expanded to a full page, I see no reason to delete it. Keep. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 00:36, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
(I wrote this last night, then held out on posting it to find more examples of redirects) I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Wet Knee Gumption Club changed to a redirect. I wouldn't call this an item, location, or organization; it's a phrase that Homestar drastically embellishes. I admit the page looks better than it did last night the night before last, but it still seems strange to have it here. Some similar precedents for redirects are Temple of Apshai, sbu, jumbo/LARGE, Slightly Shotgunned Compy, plan "g", Van Mundegaarde, Brain Sister, Erweenga, and Purple Wrench. This page is more deserving of an article than, I'd say, maybe some of those.
Anonny 75: L.U.R.N. has two distinct appearances, and it is a more defined organization. It's more deserving of a page than this is. The Knights Who Say Ni 05:25, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
It's a phrase that Homestar drastically embellishes that has its own lecture explaining it and a 3 day seminar. It's as much of an organization as any of the other examples I mentioned. The examples you mentioned, on the other hand...
  • Temple of Apshai - Mentioned and seen only briefly as an example of a game SB would rather be playing, and could have been anything. Not crucial to the plot.
  • sbu - Not an item, location, or organization, just a word SB was trying to get Bubs to say.
  • jumbo/LARGE - Again, not an item, location or organization, and was a "running joke" in only that one toon.
  • Slightly Shotgunned Compy - This redirects to the slightly shotgunned compy menu... Not sure what you're trying to show with this one.
  • plan "g" - Not an item, location, or organization, and was a one-off joke building on the G running joke.
  • Van Mundegaarde - Another one-off joke, and not particularly crucial to the plot.
  • Brain Sister - a song, not an item, location, or organization, and documenting it separately would basically just be a straight copy-paste of the lyrics already documented on its toon's page.
  • Erweenga - Seriously? This is a weird name SB made up and said once. This is in no way similar.
  • Purple Wrench - Another one-off joke with a one-time-appearance item that didn't play a large role.
None of these fit the criteria being discussed here, which is an organization on which a large portion of the toon is focused. SBASAF, for instance, though it now has 4 appearances, was created as a page on the same day that the toon it first appeared in was released. A toon in which, I might add, the organization was just as silly and pretend as ABD was in its toon, if not more so. — Defender1031*Talk 09:57, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
I would say that SBASAF is a more defined organization than this is, although I've never really understood the connection between some aluminum foil and space travel. It predates my H*R experience, but I probably would have supported redirecting it until the joke was revisited. By 2009 it was well deserving of its own page. The examples I mentioned all redirect to the toon they appear in, which is what I thought should happen with this. I would say that sbu was more crucial to the plot of the toon it's in, and what DF said about jumbo/LARGE is exactly what I said about this: a running joke in only this one toon. Slightly Shotgunned Compy is an item that redirects to the toon it's primarily featured in. Van Mundegaarde and Erweenga were meant to be less compelling examples. I guess I didn't give the "lecture explaining it and 3-day seminar" any credence in the toon, so that's probably why I didn't think it should be called an organization.
