CGNU Far Side

Quick Question: should the Far Side version of The Jolly Dumple also be included? --Stux 06:04, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

I think it doesn’t hurt -113.37.226.89 06:55, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

Once and only once, only once

So there's been a series of reverts regarding redundant linking to character pages. (Culminating, for now, in my most recent revert.) Since there's disagreement on this matter as well as inconsistencies in how this is applied, I'm bringing the discussion into the talk page. With that in mind, here are my observations:

  • The Resulting removal of links remains inconsistent. A simple example: between the Cover and Day 1, Homestar Runner is linked twice. Strong Bad is linked three times: in the Cover, Day 3 and Day 14. And Cow Lamp is also linked twice in consecutive days. None of these were covered in the revert in question.
  • Our policy discourages multiple linking, however there are two exceptions: long articles and sections that may be linked to other sections. Note that both of the criteria might fit some or all of the cases on this page. It is also the reasoning behind this edit, which I previously thought was made on the Decemberweenvent Calendar page instead of this one.

Therefore, there is strong rationale for keeping the links as they are now: so readers don't have to hunt for links if they jump to any of the sections on this page. --Stux 14:48, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

Directly above the link you posted for “our policy” it says link every instance in a table. This is a table. -113.37.226.89 14:50, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
Indeed. Each table row should be considered its own mini-article. This is because it is possible to link directly to a table row (and in this case it's likely that we would). If someone finds themself looking at day 17 Homestar, they shouldn't have to scroll all the way up to the cover hunting for the link to the character page. — It's dot com 16:53, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
