Monkey business

Monkey D. Luffy is the main character of the animé series One Piece.

Arguments for:

  • "Monkey D" is present in both names.

Arguments against:

  • The "Luffy" is curiously absent.
  • This is probably a coincidence.

Additional comments:

  • This would be more plausible if TBC took as much interest in animé as they do in 80's video games. However, they have only directly referred to Sailor Moon (Main Page 17), DragonBall Z (japanese cartoon), and Akira (3 Times Halloween Funjob), which are fairly mainstream and don't reveal a strong interest in animé.
    • And the Sailor Moon reference is questionable - Marzipan could instead be imitating Chun-Li from Street Fighter 2.
