STRONG BAD: {secretively} Didn't you come in here to read an e-mail, sonny, not to ask an old man silly questions? {brings up the email}

{Strong Bad says "Dear Strong Bad" instead of "Ding-dong String-strong Bing-bong", and "With lots of crap" in place of "With lots of groan". He also puts special emphasis on "ReverendTed".}

STRONG BAD: {typing} Ahh, the goodly Reverend Ted. Oh, the stories I could tell... {looks wistfully up to the left for a few moments} ...but I wont. {clears screen} Instead, allow myself to introduce his...self.

{Cut to Strong Bad in front of the administration building at Texas A&M University, circa 2001.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} I remember the first time we met like it was mere years ago...

STRONG BAD: Whoa. Who's that beefy, athletic fellow surrounded by all-a those ladies?

{The frame pans to show ReverendTed, standing next to Strong Bad.}

REVERENDTED: I don't know. I'm not that big into sports. Wish I could have me some of those ladies, though.

STRONG BAD: Yeah right, Reverend NERD. The day you get even one lady is the day Strong Mad gets knighted by the Queen of England.

{Cut to Buckingham Palace, where Strong Mad is kneeling before Queen Elizabeth}

QUEEN ELIZABETH: And thence from this first day of July, Two-thousand and five, ye shall be...

"YOU'VE GOT NO ARMS LEFT!"

{back to the Lappy}

STRONG BAD: Sir Strong Mad {sarcastic emphasis on "sir"} just hasn't been the same since he became one of those silly English kuh-nig-its.

{Cut to Strong Mad and The Knight outside the King of Town's Castle. They are dressed as King Arthur and The Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.}

STRONG MAD: YOU'VE GOT NO ARMS LEFT!

{back to the Lappy}

STRONG BAD: {typing} Anyway, The Rev has only e-mailed me a few times, and I've never felt particularly compelled to answer, on account of the disinteresting-ness of his e-mails. Honestly, they're about as enthralling as a trip to the dentist. {clears screen} He made a few anonymous edits to the HRWiki before he finally gave up and registered. For instance, as 24.243.4.228 {pronounced "a bunch of freakin' numbers"}, he was the first to point out that I was a bacteriophage in Free Petry Dish USA. Now that he's registered, though, I doubt we'll ever hear from him again.

{The Paper comes down.}

Easter Eggs

  • Click on "bacteriophage" at the end to see a short message from Strongbadiophage in Free Petry Dish USA.
STRONGBADIOPHAGE: Way to go, Reverend NERD.

Fun Facts

Trivia

  • This e-mail was never linked anywhere on the site, and was never actually produced.
  • ReverendTed's nickname comes from the fact that he is an ordained minister (albeit through the Universal Life Church), and is frequently referred to by his friends as "Ted".

Explanations

  • The date given for Strong Mad's knighting is the date of ReverendTed's wedding, where he "got a lady".

Remarks

  • The e-mail number 4157 does not follow the typical numbering sequence, but is rather a reference to the number 41, which begins a chain of 41 prime numbers ending in the square of 41 when you add 2, 4, 6, 8, etc, and the number 57, which apparently has sentimental significance to the Rev, and even factors into his AOL Instant Messenger Screenname "Tehd57".
  • Strong Bad claiming that reading an e-mail from the Rev is "like a trip to the dentist" is not surprising, given that the Rev is currently a 3rd-year dental student.

Goofs

  • Strong Bad types "Reverend Ted", even though the nickname is typically typed as a single word.
  • Since Strong Mad is a citizen of Free Country USA, his knighthood would only be honorary, and he would not use the style "sir", nor would he be "dubbed" by the Queen.
  • Strong Mad is supposedly a knight, yet he is dressed as (and quotes) the character of King Arthur.

Inside References

  • Strong Bad's pronounciation of "Ding-dong String-strong Bing-bong" as "Dear Strong Bad" is a reference to death metal, where he did exactly the opposite.
  • Strong Mad's comment outside the castle is a reference to The Knight's Lack of Visible Arms.

Real-World References

  • "Allow myself to introduce his...self" is a reference to an Austin Powers quote in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.
  • Both Strong Bad's pronounciation of "knight" as "kuh-nig-it" and Strong Mad's line are references to Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as are the costumes Strong Mad and The Knight are wearing. ReverendTed is a tremendous fan of Monty Python.
