Welcome list

I noticed that you haven't been formally welcoming people, and also asked AbdiViklas if you could join the committee. I'll answer it for you: go right ahead. Those lists are open to anyone so that our members can become better involved in the wiki. If you would like to welcome a user, simply copy and paste this into their user talk page: {{subst:welcome|~~~|~~~~}}. This will enter the welcome message and your name, signature, and time stamp. If you need anything else, drop me a note on my talk page. teeeffoh! 18:08, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

But you should also read HRWiki:Welcoming committee first! (By the way, I did answer on my talk page—saying, well, basically what's just been said here.) —AbdiViklas 18:26, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Happy

Wow; fast draw! —AbdiViklas 18:39, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

too fast i put the wrong ip on the troll list. it had the same frist 2 digits Ciberdude444 18:41, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Well the correct one was blocked, and that's all that really matters. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ @ 18:50, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Sig

Whoa now! The last one looked great, but... um... that new one's a little long for a sig! lol —AbdiViklas 19:02, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

ya think?

CiberDude

If anyone can tell me what song that is you get a prize

CiberDude

By the way, that is cool (though I don't get a prize), but you know you can't use that for a normal signature. I can't find the official page where it talks about signatures, but the basics are that it 1) shows your name (although not officially against the rules, it's kind of misleading if it doesn't), 2) doesn't have any images over 20 pixels, and 3) is definitely less than a full line. I'd recommend just "Ciberdude444", either with links to your talk page and other stuff after it or—if you wanted to save space—you could even make the "Ciberdude" part link to your user page and the "444" part link to here! —AbdiViklas 19:33, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

AbdiViklas is right. That is too long for a signature. Sanjuro/Balmung

Yes. Please change your sig so it conforms to our our standards. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 19:53, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Although note, in Thundebirds comment under that link, that you can keep any kind of non-functional sig around here on your user space. So far there isn't any problem since you haven't had to use your sig anywhere else. But ultimately you'll need a way to sign, and writing out [[User:Ciberdude444|Ciberdude444]] each time could get old. —AbdiViklas 19:58, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Although, I adamantly refused to use the tildes for a while myself, and wrote out [[User:DorianGray|DorianGray]] every time. I liked to think of it as a test of my typing skills. So, it's possible. Just not practical. --DorianGray
Even though I use the Tildes, it doesn't come with a link to my page. Sanjuro 20:05, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Um... sure 'bout dat? —AbdiViklas 20:06, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Nevermind. It's fixed. (I was just typing this down and it had an error)

Now I can't find where to put my sig. T_T Sanjuro 20:08, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

User page

On your user page, maybe take off the part about "if you like your page" etc. You're a reformed troll; otherwise you'd be banned (by the way, the number of major users around here who started out as trolls is... well, quite high; even one sysop I can think of). Nobody should be messing with your page simply because its against the rules; the "if you like your page" part makes it a threat of sorts. Which isn't cool. —AbdiViklas 19:54, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Yup, i started out as a troll. My dastardly deed was blanking the sandbox. Template and all. Not that big of a vandalism. Anyway, Abdi's right. — talk Bubsty edits 01:46, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Dang. It's like everybody can read my mind! I was just about to put down something like what you just said! Am I that obvious, even when I'm not seen personally? Sanjuro 19:57, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Nope; I'm just psychic. :) —AbdiViklas 19:58, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah. And on Gaiaonline.com I'm the master of Death. (Seriously, I am!)
Bubsty started out as a troll?!?!? What is the world coming to?!?!?! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! {runs into a brick wall} oh.....Johnny....that...that's out of, out of....service...... Has Matt? (talk) 01:50, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Hey, it's not that uncommon. I started as a troll. :) Thunderbird 01:59, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
{Waking up, still not completely sane} Ahhh.... {rubs head} must've... hit my head... on that airplane, right there. {sees above comment, takes a deep breath} AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! {explodes in a big fiery ball that is visible from space} Has Matt? (talk) 02:06, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
This has made me curious...to the now-respectable users who were once trolls, why did you troll in the first place? Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 02:39, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Because I was scared. But yes Has Matt?, I was. look at the troll archives, go to august, and check out bubs@bubs.bubs. That was me! — talk Bubsty edits 02:40, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Might as well add that I was once a troll, so it's fairly common. —Zelinda 02:43, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
I didn't know what a Wiki was. In my case, I was there when it reopened after being down for a month, and I thought that it was a temporary glitch that I was able to edit pages. So I figured I'd make good use of my oppourtunity. It was my first introduction to the concept of a Wiki. Thunderbird 03:18, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Thats kinda what I mean. I didn't know what a wiki was. And most humans think, "If you don't know what something is, destroy it." Plus, I was curious if I really would get blocked. — talk Bubsty edits 03:31, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Wow, you guys are all so bad... but that is interesting. I guess it's just another instance of Please Don't Bite The Newcomers:

Remember Hanlon's Razor. Behavior that appears malicious to experienced Wikipedians is more likely due to ignorance of our expectations and rules. Even if you're 100% sure that someone is a worthless, no-good, low-down scum-sucking Internet troll, vandal, or worse, conduct yourself as if they're not. By being calm, interested, and respectful, your dignity is uplifted, and you further our project.

I guess not every person who trolls in the beginning is a troll. — Lapper (talk) 03:44, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

True dat. But... we're getting off topic. Basiclly Ciberdude, as you've seen, even major, important users have been trolls. If you stop trolling now, you still have a chance to become one. — talk Bubsty edits 03:53, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

yeah, i called firebird a swearword. that's why i first got blocked. Seriously 04:32, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Notice

First of all, I want to say I appreciate that you have not edited Seriously's user or talk page since I asked you not to. I am now extending that to include Trendy Totebag's user and talk pages. (It's hard to be 100% sure, but I don't think that Seriously and Trendy Totebag are the same person, although they do seem to know each other.) Pretend that they don't exist. Do not reply to their comments on other talk pages. I would also like you please to remove your mention of Trendy Totebag from your user page. (Yes, I know that he trolled it in the first place.) I have already warned Seriously and Trendy Totebag that if they ignore my instructions, they will be blocked without hesitation. (Please don't forget that this applies to you as well.) I don't mean to sound harsh here, since as far as I can tell you have not edited their pages (other than to ask a quesion on Trendy Totebag's talk page), but I did want to make sure you were fully informed. — It's dot com 06:21, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
