Category talk:Stop Motion
From Homestar Runner Wiki
Do we even need this category? The list is on the Stop Motion page itself. This is just redundant. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:05, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's the same pattern as with Puppet Stuff for example, where the category is redundant as well. So I simply assumed that this is how things are done. The advantage of having this category is that it gives readers an additional navigation opportunity (at the bottom of a categorized page). Apart from that: yes, it is redundant and we don't really need this page. What's the wiki's policy on when to use categories? I couldn't find anything about it. Loafing

- Well, we categorize the toons by Puppet Stuff, Toons, Shorts, etc. because that's the way those fall under in the TV Time Toons Menu. Other categories that applay to toons are Filmography categories and character world categories (20X6, Old Timey, etc.). If TBC put all the toons with stop motion under one menu on the website, then we will categorize them by it. All this can be found in the standards page. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:41, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind too much if it did get deleted since it really is redundant. As I said, I thought that's how things are done here, but you're more experienced, and so I guess you're right ;-) And thanks for the link, I had already read that. It seems to me that that paragraph only explains how to use categories for a toon, but it doesn't exactly say what categories are and when they should be created. It would be great to have a more explicit description for n00bs like me. Loafing

- Those two things are covered under the User's guide which is linked to from the sidebar under external links. But you are right on one thing, though. There realy isn't a guide or something similar on what you can or can't do on HRWiki. Our general rule is "be bold" in creating things. The worst think that can happen is revertion or deletion, and you can learn something new from the whole thing. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:56, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
