Who are you? -Kinsey
You know, the tunnel in this game kinda looks like the tunnel shown on the targeting computer in Star Wars Episode IV.-Homsar Runner
Yeah, it kinda does. Should that be listed as a fun fact, or just be forgotten forever? — talk Bubsty edits
I just played this game, and all the messages came up normally through the message at 56. Then I didn't get the poutine message until after obstacle 71, and the call it quits message at 78. Weird.70.224.207.92 01:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] the shark in list of messages
hey um. the shark doesnt have periods (.) after it in the list of messages, ie:
- shark:
- Fight: It was a shark It bites your fists off. Too bad. *-1 point*
- Talk: It was a shark Quint calls out to you from the depths of the shark's belly with some keen fishing tips. *+2 points*
- Jump: It was a shark You jump the shark. Just like Homestarrunner.com. *0 points*
should it look like this:
- shark:
- Fight: It was a shark. It bites your fists off. Too bad. *-1 point*
- Talk: It was a shark. Quint calls out to you from the depths of the shark's belly with some keen fishing tips. *+2 points*
- Jump: It was a shark. You jump the shark. Just like Homestarrunner.com. *0 points*

- Yep, missing in-game. Weird, huh? --DorianGray
[edit] changing file?
Can someone help me? I read on the article that it's possible to change the answers through the xmf file or something but I'm not sure how that works... Thanks! -Cyndi
- That's easy! Feel free to follow along with my simple step-by-step instructions. I make XML-editing FUN!!
- First, save the SWF (the Flash file) and the XML file to your hard drive. Save them both in the same folder for easy access.
- Right-click on the XML file, and choose "Open with..."
- Select the text-editor of your choice. Notepad works best, due to its simple format.
- Now you have your XML file open for editing. Everything between the tags labelled "
<hallrunner>
" will be included in the game. Each object is offset by "<q>
". The object name is identified with the "<obj>
" tag, and the replies are identified by the "<a>
" tag, which also includes the point value. - Pick an object. It can be anything you want. For example, let's say... The Cheat.
- Alter the existing code to whatever you like. It's easiest to just look at the existing code and changing what you need. The top item in the "
<a>
" list is the response for choosing "FIGHT IT", the second is for "TALK TO IT", and the third for "JUMP IT". You can assign different replies, objects, and even change the point values. Soon you'll have a totally customised Hallrunner game of your very own. Have fun! - Make sure to SAVE your XML file when you're done editing it. Do not rename the file, or the game will not recognise it.
- Hope that helps. =3 Enjoy yourself, everyone who actually reads this. --DorianGray
- Cool! I edited the XML file but I'm having trouble opening the SWF file... Do I need to download something for that? -Cyndi
- Usually you can open it in your favorite browser (IE, Firefox), unless you have IE 7, which I'm pretty sure has a bug that doesn't let you read swf files. If you do have IE 7, then just save the html file onto the same place and open that. This looks really cool...I should try it. :D - The Joe(Talk) 18:24, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Odell Woods?
The options to "Fight it," "Jump over it," and "Talk to it" are a lot like the similar options you get in the old Apple II game Odell Woods, where whenever you "come up on" an obstacle (which is more greatly described in the game,) you have the option to "Run from it," "Ignore it," "Eat it," and "Chase it." Is this notable, or should it be forever relegated to the dustbin of HRWiki History? --President Cold One 11:10, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- There were a number of games in that time period that used these types of commands and options. I can't think of the names of any off the top of my head, so I can't say don't add it, but if you do it may end up being considered TTATO. - ISTC 13:27, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Just Random
If you played the game with a perfect score, at (+2 points per round), 3 rounds per minute, 60 minutes per hour, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year (366 on leap years {Although according to Wikipedia, every 100th year that does not multiply with 400 is not a leap year}) for 120 years, it would be possible to get to 378,683,424 points. Of course, the average life expectancy needs to be more than 120 years of age, even for the biggest computer addict. — 154.5.181.164 (Talk | contribs) 15:25, 14 October 2007 (left unsigned)
- I guess. Also, to get 100,000,000 points with that sequence, it would take about 31.7 years.
[edit] Date?
While working on Horses, I noticed that both Peasant's Quest and Hallrunner have a date of August 2, 2004, but while Peasant's Quest correctly says it was a Monday, Hallrunner claims it was a Tuesday. Do we know the correct date for Hallrunner? Something must be wrong, even if just the weekday. The page was created without any real information on the 14th September 2004. Then this diff on the 15th describes the gameplay but does not link to it. This diff (16th September 2004) is the first to show the responses and link to the game. -- Mithent 17:53, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Commas between group separators?
Just out of curiousity, is there a comma separator between 1000 points and/or 1000 obstacles? It's not too important, I just want to know.
[edit] Custom game keeps crashing
I saved the .swf and .xml files on my computer, in the same file, edited the .xml to have my questions. I'm sure that there aren't any mistakes in it. When I open the .swf in Mozilla Firefox, it starts up fine, it's got all my custom questions, but after about six or seven questions, it freezes up and says that the script that it's running off of is making it run slow. I get off, get back on, and it does the same thing again six or seven questions later. What is causing this, and how do I fix it? SuperfieldCreditUnion
[edit] Game like this
I remember a flash game like this, but you had 3 differing options every round. It also had a platformer view and had lots more colors. I can't remember what it's called. Can someone link it to me?

[edit] Franciscan Monk Vows
While the actual expression of the vow varies between different Franciscan orders, there is more than just silence and its actually much funnier if the talk option it wasn't referring to silence.
Vows: chastity, poverty and obedience.
I think its funnier with the first one, myself.
[edit] Trans Am
Wondering if the response to Jumping the train "It was a train. Right through an open boxcar in a TransAm! (+2)" might be a reference to sbemail #84 the mile in which the television announcer says "TV show featuring The Cheat in a Trans Am." and if that should then be placed among the inside references.
- Nah. Trans am is a real car. Nothing else exists to connect it to that email. — Defender1031*Talk 03:05, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
