[edit] Welcome!

Hey LobStoR, welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! Thanks for helping fix up those templates. Keep on tranglin'! — It's dot com 02:58, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

You've got some good ideas there, but I think we need to discuss some of the changes you're making before they're implemented. — It's dot com 05:16, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Right-o, feel free to revert the changes I've made, til discussion can occur. I've been verifying 2-3 of each template style before I move on to the next one. The OCD side of me wants to finish, since I only have one more to go... LobStoR 05:20, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Frankly, I've thought about making a master navigation formatting template and having the special cases be instances of it for a very long time. What we had wasn't broken though, and I had other things to fix, so I didn't mess with it. The only thing I don't really care for is the name of the template. — It's dot com 05:25, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Heh, "NavFlex" was just a random (semi-logical) choice I made. You should be able to move the template, without it breaking any functionality... Later, I'd have to go back and rename all the sub-templates Categories... probably not right now, though, bed-time soon. LobStoR 05:28, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Hey, i wanted to add my welcome here, and say that it's a rare pleasure to see a new user who knows what they're doing right off the bat. Your responses are well thought out, you seem to know templates like the back of your hand, and you just seem to be all-around awesome. I assume that this therefore is not your first wiki, but whatever the case, it's nice to have you on board. Anyway, keep up the good work, and if you have any questions about the policy or tradition side of things, feel free to ask me or any of the sysops. (You could also ask about technical, but i seriously doubt that you'll need to.) Happy tranglings! — Defender1031*Talk 19:53, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the kind welcomes, everyone. Likewise to you, just let me know if you have any ideas to improve the wiki, that you'd like to see implemented in a sandbox. LobStoR 19:57, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Image optimization

Please don't edit personal images. Incidentally, why are you bothering to reupload optimized versions of images? I'm just wondering. The total benefit on a rendered page is so slight as to not be worth the marginal cost. — It's dot com 01:42, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Just bored, gives me something to click away at while I watch TV.  ;-) LobStoR 01:44, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if your bored. Only if it's neccesary (did i spell that right?).-Record307 Talk/Contribs 01:45, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Meh, it's a talk page, spelling's not important. And "necessary" is a funny word to use on a wiki about Homestar Runner... LobStoR 01:47, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
(copied from another talk page) I didn't change the sig pic, it still renders identically - it is a mere file optimization... which considering that this is currently the 3rd most used image on the wiki, may save a little bandwidth. LobStoR 01:43, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
The file is so small that it doesn't matter. Also, it's cached by a browser on the first download. Regardless, it's a copyrighted image and shouldn't be altered. Even if it wasn't, personal images shouldn't be altered except under exceptional circumstances. — It's dot com 01:48, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
There also is the question of "why not optimize?" - it's my own personal time, and it doesn't harm anything. Just the same as any of the other zillion trivial edits made to the wiki every day. LobStoR 02:00, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't want to give the impression that we don't appreciate the effort. We do. But historically I've noticed that edits that were done out of boredom tend to cause a certain amount of consternation for those patrolling the edits, especially if the difference between versions is not obvious. When those edits turn into a flood, people get downright nervous, particularly if the user's intentions have not been previously stated on a project page and the user has no user page (practically speaking). I'm all for optimizing images, but if you'd like to continue doing so I think it would be prudent to bring it up on HRWiki:Projects to give other users a chance to weigh in. Also, let us know a little bit about yourself. You're obviously proficient in wiki markup and image optimization. And possibly you like lobsters. :) — It's dot com 02:03, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Deleting Files

See this talk ColdReactive

Ahh, ok, so no point in marking them... Gotcha, thanks for the heads-up so I don't waste a lot of time marking files :) LobStoR 22:54, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Clear your cache

Hey there. Please clear your cache before making more edits. Thanks one million! — It's dot com 01:06, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Done. Thanks, I never checked to see that the script was properly localized for this wiki. LobStoR 01:07, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
