[edit] Welcome to The Homestar Runner Wiki!

Hello, and welcome to The Homestar Runner Wiki! This is the best place, as you've probably noticed, to learn about anything and everything Homestar Runner. There are a couple of things you should read up on before you really start jumping in and editing -

If you have any questions, ask them up in the HelpDesk or ask some sysops or admins ('sysop' is just a special term for someone who watches over the wiki and has a few more rights than other users). I'm sure you'll catch on quickly, and all of the users are very nice here. Feel free to delete this message when you're done reading it, and I hope you stick around and join our team. Have fun! – Pertmywert (Talk·Edits), The Homestar Runner Wiki Welcoming Committee

[edit] Christian

Kool, another Christian on the wiki. Happy Easter, Point7Q. May the grace of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, always be with you. Has Matt? (talk) 02:32, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, and to you as well. He is Risen indeed. - Point7Q 02:36, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Aaaand still is. Meanwhile, I was curious about your name: it seems meaningful, but I can't place it. It's not, as was my first theory, part of the explosion of the quadratic formula. Is it coincidence that it gives you (in a sense) the same initials as Peasant's Quest? —AbdiViklas 03:49, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Wow. I had no idea so many meanings could be read into my screen name. As creative as these theories are, the actual story has nothing to do with H*R. It is really a spelled out version of ".7Q" (which does not work as a screen name because of punctuation.) What happened was this: I was sitting around trying to come up with a superhero name/concept for myself. I've always been a fan of the Green Lanterns, but didn't want to make my fantasy self accountable to the Guardians who run the Corps, given significant differences in philosophy and ethics. I decided on something along the same vein, only using the color blue so I wouldn't be stomping on anyone's imaginary turf. I tried thinking of a name that involved blue, but couldn't think of anything I liked. Finally I got the idea of looking up the color spectrum and learned that a certain shade of blue (I have no idea WHICH shade) could be expressed as ".7 quadrillion hertz," or ".7Q." At least, assuming I read the chart right. Anyway, I never took the idea further, but it made for a handy source for a screen name. I use it on other stuff too sometimes, like "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" and a few other online forums. If anyone sees the name elsewhere, feel free to tell me. I'll let you know if that was me or someone else using the name I invented. Point7Q 04:05, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
In my continuing effort to find ways to procrastinate, I of course tried to find out what shade of blue it is. It was a crazy journey involving, first of all, the definition of Quadrillion, but in the end about the best I can say is it looks like it's right on the edge where blue turns into violet (based on this page). —AbdiViklas 04:33, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Having since checked out that page (which is really cool, by the way, thanks!) I can say that that was about the shade of blue I had in mind when all of this started. Point7Q 00:56, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Too much?

...aaaand I just found out that when I edit this page it shows up on recent changes. Given all the additions to "favorite quotes" I've been doing, I'm surprised no one has talked to me asking me to tone it down. Since the quotes section is now somewhat comprehensive, I will try to hold off on editing this page for a while. Sorry if this caused a nuisance. If it did, please let me know. - Point7Q 04:46, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

I can't speak for the other Recent Changes patrollers, but I just wanted to let you know that I didn't think it was all that bad. Certainly enough for me to notice you in the RC, but not enough to actually annoy me. What's more annoying is when a user makes 2 jillion edits every 2 jillion seconds, most of which are tweaks which could easily be avoided if they simply used the "Show Preview" button instead of saving and hitting edit again (though that usually stops once you politely point out to them that the Show Preview button exists)... just regularly adding more stuff isn't nearly as big a problem. --phlip TC 02:46, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

I appreciate the reply and the explanation. Given that, do you think I should leave that paragraph there, or delort it? Point7Q 02:51, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Whichever you prefer... it is your user page, after all... --phlip TC 03:10, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quiet Here

I'm noticing people almost never post here. It occurs to me that this might be a good thing, given that most of the users who get lots of attention on their user talk page seen to be either

  1. A sysop/moderator type or
  2. Someone who is in trouble with the aforemetioned authorities

I'm hoping my lack of received attention is because I'm not doing anything wrong, as opposed to simply being a boring user with a boring userpage. If it is, oh well, I'll just stick to RC patrol and STUFF voting and be happy.

  • Don't feel too bad - it's exceptionably quiet 'round my talk page too, much to my social (using this term loosely, of course) chagrin! (Like, cliche wind and cricket sound effects quiet). At least your user page is fun to read, (I'd love to set up a "Favorite Quotes" section on mine, but I would have to put the entire Wiki on my user page, and that's no grood for anyone!... I have no restraint...) Just thought I'd say "hi!" and let you know that I was here, and that I find your user name to be really, really cool and awexome. And now, I must leave the Wiki for a while (got to get some studyin' done... I've procrastinated way too much as it is...). See ya 'round the Wiki, and have a happy Decemberween! kai lyn 01:51, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Hey, I agree. While not a sysop, most of the talk posts I write are of the "Hey, you could try X" or "Please don't do Y" variety. My talk page is always quiet - mainly because I always do X and never do Y, probably. :) Look at it this way - less posts on talk pages means more posts are on articles where we need them. So it's a good thing! I get a few talk posts a month on my talk page, if that. If you do as well, consider yourself popular! Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:56, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the replies, you two. And Qermaq, you're right about the quantity of edits on talk pages. Few things are more annoying on RC then a load of talk edits. Point7Q 02:05, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
