Hot Lixx is a term used to describe playing heavy metal music on a guitar, similar to the onomatopoeias "squeedlie" and "meedlie".
The term comes from a poster Mike Chapman owned as a teen, depicting a red guitar with smoking strings. This was likely a poster for the "Hot Lixx" clothing brand, which was active in the mid-to-late-1980s.
