@StrongBadActual is Strong Bad's Twitter (also known as X) account. It posts a variety of original text, images, and videos, some promoting recent Homestar Runner projects, others responding to fans; over 3,000 posts have been made across 10 years, and Strong Bad has over 85,000 followers.
As a result of Homestar Runner's adoption of an "updated every someday" schedule in the mid-2010s, @StrongBadActual sees more frequent activity than homestarrunner.com itself; the account also superseded several aspects of the site — Strong Bad Emails now prompt viewers to ">tweet here to email strong bad @StrongBadActual" rather than emailing strongbad@homestarrunner.com, fan works are recognized through the account rather than through Weekly Fanstuff, Fan Costumes are solicited through tweets rather than emails, and several short toons have only been released on Twitter. However, activity on @StrongBadActual has declined since mid-2024.

[edit] History
Homestar Runner went on an extended hiatus beginning in 2010. Series co-creator Matt Chapman registered a personal Twitter account, @ronginald, on September 3, 2011 and @StrongBadActual was registered days later on September 29; though @ronginald saw occasionally use before its closure in 2013, the Strong Bad account remained inactive. The site's hiatus was broken with an April Fool's toon in 2014, and shortly afterwards Matt was interviewed about the site's past and future. In addition to forthcoming updates to the site itself, he mentioned that he and his brother were considering "giv[ing] Strong Bad a Twitter account".
[edit] Activity
The first tweet was posted to @StrongBadActual a few months later on September 26, 2014. Attention was drawn to the account when Homestar Runner co-creator Craig Zobel retweeted this first post. The account was also promoted by Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls, who Matt Chapman worked with during the hiatus. @StrongBadActual was further confirmed to be genuine with the release of Fish Eye Lens on October 3, 2014, as a prior post had featured a behind-the-scenes image from the toon. The first Lappier email, released April 1, 2015, marked the first mention of the account on homestarrunner.com; the first time the account was officially linked to was in a 2017 main page message reading "strong bad's twitter". A Twitter timeline was embedded on the index page on December 31, 2020.
2018 was the first year where there was at least one tweet every month.
[edit] Decrease in usage
Frequent posting to @StrongBadActual continued through mid-2024, with the account continuing to reply to fans (particularly troubleshooting the recently-released Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate). Activity abruptly decreased after July of that year, halting casual replies and all but ceasing featuring fanstuff. 2024 was also the first year that no request was made for fans to send pictures of their Halloween costumes since that series' revival in 2015, and the year's fanstume toon went unmentioned on social media. Since September 20, 2024, nearly all tweets have simply been announcements of new toons, new merch, or store sales. Twitter posts have increasingly been mirrored on Strong Bad's other microblogging accounts on Instagram and Bluesky.
The embedded Twitter feed was removed from the index page on November 23, 2023. The Homestar Runner Updates email newsletter (launched February 13, 2024) included a link to @StrongBadActual on Twitter among other social links in its footer; as of April 16, 2025, the footer no longer linked to Twitter.

[edit] Fun Facts
[edit] Explanations
- Including "Actual", "Real", or similar phrasing in a username (in addition to or instead of existing Twitter verification methods) is common practice for celebrities and organizations who wish to identify an official account from one run by a fan or imposter. Additionally, the username @strongbad was in use on both Twitter and Instagram prior to the creation of either @StrongBadActual account.
[edit] Trivia
- @StrongBadActual only follows one account: Batman 66 Labels.
- The follower count peaked in 2023, having over 98,000 followers at its high point.
[edit] Inside References
- Strong Bad's foray into social media is portrayed as being with his out-of-date computer equipment, and his early posts mostly document that.
- It seems that he uses a computer similar to the Tandy 400, as it is shown that his "Twitter rig" is just two Apple IIe drives with Tandy logos. He claims that he got the 3.5" drive later.
- In other tweets, it is suggested that he uses a Compy phone (in actuality, just a phone with a Compy case from the Store).
