Fan Costumes (abbreviated as Fan 'Stumes since 2019) is a mostly-annual feature collecting fan-submitted photos of Homestar Runner–themed Halloween costumes and decorations. The slideshow of photographs is accompanied by commentary from Strong Bad, who frequently mocks the fans' quality and execution of costumes, choice of characters to portray, and photography skills. Costume photos were originally sent in via email, but beginning in 2015 they were solicited through the @StrongBadActual Twitter account (similarly to Strong Bad Email's switch to Twitter).

Fans dressed as the Homestar Runner characters had been acknowledged in Fan Stuff prior to the first Fan Costume Commentary (and would continue to occasionally be featured in Weekly Fanstuff). The first two entries lack a year in their titles, suggesting it may not have been intended to be a yearly feature; the series became 'officially' annual in 2006. The series took a multi-year hiatus beginning in 2010 before resuming its annual pace in 2015.

The series has become more complex and changed format over the years. The first two entries framed pictures in a simple white border, shown against a blue night-sky background, with a title at the top. Starting in 2006, the style was changed to a projector screen in the basement of the Brothers Strong, with a slide transition between each costume. In 2023, fanstumes were shared through the format of The Show, to match that year's Halloween toon. From 2005 through 2014, "next" and "previous" buttons were included that allowed skipping ahead or looking back at previous costumes. Strong Bad's interaction with the onscreen images has become more involved. Originally simply providing commentary, in later years the photos have been animated or drawn over to emphasize Strong Bad's riffing. As costumes have become more specific and in-jokey, Strong Bad has begun soliciting extremely specific costumes for dedicated fans to attempt in the next year.
