:::I agree with Salty as well (in fact, I brought this up in the [[highschool]] talk page). It's most likely just Bubs having ran out of S's, and Bub5amecium's Protozoa Stand is just a joke based on that. I can see how it'd be *confused* as leetspeak, but it's really not. -[[User:YK|YK]]

What the Cr4p?

Since when did we pronounce "Teh Ch8t" as "The Ch-eight-et"?? I thought it was well understood that "Teh Ch8t" translated to "The Cheat". (We're going for "What it means", not "How it's pronounced".) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 17:56, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Indeed. — It's dot com 18:00, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
I agree, it was preety well before. Maybe it just sounds like that because saying "Teh Ch8t" in proper English would sound more like "The Chait," which may sound like an Australian accent. teeeffoh! 18:56, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
I think it should be consistent with the fun fact here. Change the fact or change the page. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:22, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Yes, I see how you can get "The Chaitt" out of that, but that's still talking about how it's pronounced. This page isn't addressing that - it's addressing what the Leetspeak MEANS, and it's pretty clear that "Ch8t" = Cheat, regardless of how it's pronounced. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 23:50, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Oww... Now I understand! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:08, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh. Thanks skunkdude. teeeffoh! 13:04, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

(for all those not very fluent in leetspeak, that up there says "the alphabet)

I have an idea for the page...maybe do another table that show each letter in the normal English alphabet (i.e. a, b, c, etc.), but then give the letters that require it their translation into leetspeak (i.e. a=4, t=7, e=3, etc.). Just an idea. teeeffoh! 13:08, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

Not needed. This is not an article about leetspeak, but about leetspeak in the Homestar Runner cartoons. There's a link to the Wikipedia article with much more information on the subject. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 13:15, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm wondering if we're deviating a bit from true Leetspeak on this page by listing things like "omg", "g2g", "hooray4dolphins", etc. (I just added "hooray4dolphins" myself, but that's mainly because we also have g2g and omg up there.) Should we distinguish between Leetspeak and commonly accepted shortcuts that aren't necessarily "Leet"? Because if you want to be technically accurate about it, "omg", "lol", "g2g", etc., are not Leet - they abbreviate phrases rather than replacing individual letters with numbers, codes, etc. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 18:01, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

What if this page was moved to a new name? How about Internet Slang? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:06, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
I'm good with that. After reading the Wikipedia article on Leet, I believe we should make this article a more general article on Internet Slang, which includes Leet. But "hooray4dolphins", "omg", etc. are not Leet. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:09, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Don't Forget Biz Cas Fri

Homestar was "ROTF" in Biz Cas Fri ... ummmmmm ... 3? -- Mycroft Holmes 19:33, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Emoticon in suntan

^_~ was used there. I've always considered emoticons part of internet slang. -- Mycroft Holmes 19:41, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Hmm... do you think we should distinguish between emoticons and slang phrases? I think there are quite a few more occurrences of emoticons throughout the HSR universe than there are L33t and abbreviations... perhaps not - dunno. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:45, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
I believe that most internet slang is composed of the primary characters, A-Z, or numbers representing A through Z, or Leet. Emoticons, additionally, can not be pronounced, save this particular one, I believe, and therefore are not slang, the non-standard use of words. — Lapper (talk) 21:21, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

I believe this should be more general and titled "Internet Slang" or somrthing along those lines. Then again, how would you translate an emoticon? ":) = smile"? SaltyTalk! 03:30, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Censorship?

Do we really need to censor out "a**" in LMAO?--Spanky The Dolphin 07:54, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

We usually do like to keep this a family-friendly site, so I would say probably yes. Heimstern Läufer 08:14, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
The censorship also applies to the talk pages as well. So I went ahead and censored your comment if you don't mind. --Stux 14:10, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
I know people who would be offended by the word ***. It should definately be censored. — talk Bubsty edits 17:58, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Just tell me, what is the difference between a** and butt? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:03, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Umm... Butt doesn't start with an A? It would be LMBO then? ;) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:49, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
It's a step up the offensive ladder. What's the difference between crap and s***? Darn and d***? Freakin' and f******? - Joshua 18:15, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, but I don't see any. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:25, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
They both mean the same thing, but one of them is also a somewhat-offensive cuss word, one that isn't really tolerated on the H*R site and thus isn't tolerated here. - Joshua 19:05, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Your American censoring system baffles me. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:17, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
It's always considered more proper and less degrading to use words like crap and dang. Simply "astrisking" or "bleeping" out the end of the word doesn't fix that you said it. — Lapper (talk) 21:14, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
But again, people unfamiliar with this stuff would be confused to see "LMAO" translated into "laughing my butt off" because "butt" doesn't begin with "a".

Order

Just wondering, why is TGS above SBEmails? SBEmails have more sightings, the first and last sightings, and are even first alphabetically. What gives? - Joshua 03:47, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

I think it's coz the picture squashes the table or something. It shortens the page considerably putting TGS first. --DorianGray

Bub5

Should Bub5amecium's Protozoa Stand be listed here? Especially when Bubs' Concession Stand is not? I'm pretty sure it's because he ran out of S's. SaltyTalk! 04:25, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. I've deleted it. — InterruptorJones 04:38, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
I personally think they should BOTH be here. -Unknownwarrior33

4actor Z

Is that supposed to be "For Actor Zed" or "Factor Zed"? Thunderbird 02:18, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

It's supposed to be "Factor Z" (or "Zed" if you prefer). That's how Strong Bad said it. -Unknownwarrior33 22:34, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
