What the Cr4p?

Since when did we pronounce "Teh Ch8t" as "The Ch-eight-et"?? I thought it was well understood that "Teh Ch8t" translated to "The Cheat". (We're going for "What it means", not "How it's pronounced".) —  KieferSkunk (talk) — 17:56, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I see how you can get "The Chaitt" out of that, but that's still talking about how it's pronounced. I have an idea for the page...maybe do another table that show each letter in the normal English alphabet (i.e. a, b, c, etc.), but then give the letters that require it their translation into leetspeak (i.e. a=4, t=7, e=3, etc.). Just an idea. ♥ _tee^eff_oh! 13:08, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm wondering if we're deviating a bit from true Leetspeak on this page by listing things like "omg", "g2g", "hooray4dolphins", etc. (I just added "hooray4dolphins" myself, but that's mainly because we also have g2g and omg up there.) Should we distinguish between Leetspeak and commonly accepted shortcuts that aren't necessarily "Leet"? Because if you want to be technically accurate about it, "omg", "lol", "g2g", etc., are not Leet - they abbreviate phrases rather than replacing individual letters with numbers, codes, etc. —  KieferSkunk (talk) — 18:01, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm good with that. After reading the Wikipedia article on Leet, I believe we should make this article a more general article on Internet Slang, which includes Leet. But "hooray4dolphins", "omg", etc. are not Leet. —  KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:09, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Emoticon in suntan

I believe that most internet slang is composed of the primary characters, A-Z, or numbers representing A through Z, or Leet. Emoticons, additionally, can not be pronounced, save this particular one, I believe, and therefore are not slang, the non-standard use of words. — Lapper (talk) 21:21, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

It's always considered more proper and less degrading to use words like crap and dang. Simply "astrisking" or "bleeping" out the end of the word doesn't fix that you said it. — Lapper (talk) 21:14, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

But again, people unfamiliar with this stuff would be confused to see "LMAO" translated into "laughing my butt off" because "butt" doesn't begin with "a".

I agree with Salty as well (in fact, I brought this up in the highschool talk page). It's most likely just Bubs having ran out of S's, and Bub5amecium's Protozoa Stand is just a joke based on that. I can see how it'd be *confused* as leetspeak, but it's really not. -YK
