What does "in progress" mean?

Meh. Whatever. It's not like it was pretty much my only chance to ever do an actual transcription of a visual toon. I'm sure I'll have another chance in another two years of wiking or so. Though it is darn annoying when you spend 10 minutes transcribing a toon, only to find out that one edit prior, somebody else already transcribed the same section, despite the in progress template. Maybe if I hadn't actually bothered to look for the Cardboard Marzipan precident, I would have got my revision out first. Nobody wins when it's a contest in someone's mind. True, but what we were discussing was the "screw-the-other-guy" push to be the one who can transcribe the toon (presumably to brag about it on a user page). That's a little different. Observing the {{inprogress}} is important, wouldn't you agree? - Qermaq - (^T/C)  20:31, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Feeding ducks through a tube

This is probably a reference to force-feeding geese in order to harvest their livers for foie gras. This has come under attack by animal rights activists recently.

But will it play in Chicago?

I question the relevance of the mention of Chicago's ban on foie gras. One, this toon is not made near Chicago; while it's a story on the news all over, it's not directly relevant to Atlanta. I didn't include that bit when I first wrote the fact because I didn't know about it. Heck, I didn't even know about foie gras until I did some research on tubes and ducks. When I saw the bit about the Chicago ban was added then removed and then re-added, I beefed it up a teesy bit, but I can probably take it or leave it. I support this fact. TBC said in interviews that what they like most about doing cartoons on the internet, is that they can change stuff in the last minute. There was an article in our paper about the impending ban three weeks ago, so they could easily have heard about it by toonmaking time. If not a reference, I'd bet it's at least inspired by the ban.Trelawney

I swear, they do this because we debate this stuff. Remember the "Mr. Chechov" controversy? Well, here we are again.

I'm still not convinced it's a reference to either of them - it seems too vague to be a reference to that play, and it can't be the actor because of the spelling. I'm on the fence (or maybe on the deck?) about it. -Unknownwarrior33 07:09, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Deckeman or Duckie-man?

Deckeman sounds like the name the prince of town (flashback) gave Homestar which is Duckie-man or however you spell it. Should it be noted or am I thinking about this too much? Steve Talk Contributions 00:56, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Second Homestar?

OK, so the first time Homestar runs away from Cardboardzipan, is that a second Homestar under the table, saying "I've got to find me a new girlfriend?" Or, did he run...in a rather odd direction?

The second - this happens all the time; see Summer Short Shorts for an example of Strong Bad doing it. While we're here, the second possible "twin" Homestar sighting was in the stylized "hammer and saw" montage. I really can't see how that'd count, though. Sitting girl thing.
