Two Scud costumes?
How significant is it that two characters dressed up as characters from the same kinda-obscure comic book? --Jay (Gobble) 05:15, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say that significant. The complete graphic novel came out during the summer, so it just might be their way of pay homage to an unknown comic.
- Yes, but with two characters from the same source in the same toon? That's significant to me, and I really don't recall something like it happening before.
- Also, the guy who wrote it, Rob Schrab, works on the Sarah Silverman show, and in the background is a Homestarrunner poster.
Life the Universe and Everything
We should maybe mention the answer strong sad was looking for. 41 or something.
- 42. I've hardly read the books and I know that. --Jay (Gobble) 06:00, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- You need to check your humor-meter, Jay.
- What? I was correcting the incorrect answer of 41. If there was an inside joke in misremembering the answer, did you miss the part about me having hardly read the books? It wasn't particularly funny otherwise. --Jay (Gobble) 07:01, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sarcasm doesn't translate into text very well. If you frequent the internet, I'd be surprised if you didn't know the answer to life, the universe and everything. Stribbs 14:03, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

How green was my planet
The planet's name may or may not be "Greenguy". That is, apparently it didn't have a name when it was just a book cover, but when it became a common website image it took the name from its filename, greenguy.gif. Of course, the cartoon doesn't mention the name, so perhaps it doesn't matter anyway. ¡ɯooz + 07:36, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Strong Mad's Thwomp Actions merit mention?
Should it be added in Real World References that Strong Mad forcefully stomping the ground when he talked relates to his costume? I'd say that's why he did it. Or is it too fleeting and unimportant for a mention? GillanTheVillain 14:28, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
I say it should be put it, because it's an obvious refference, it's silly to leave it out. MJN SEIFER 20:38, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Whatchamacallit
Whatchamacallit is another kind of candy bar. I'd come up with some proper addition to the page for it myself, but I have Halloweening to do. Xerzes 15:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Teeth or leaves?
I don't think the shot of Homestar and Pom Pom from a distance was inside the carnivorous undead sheep's mouth. It looked more like the sheep was behind a bush or something. --Charlie Jr. 16:33, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Marzipan's Costume
I don't know if this should be under Remarks or Goofs, but Homestar incorrectly mentioned to Marzipan that she "keeps dressing up as dudes" when it has only happened for five Halloween toons including this one (Joey Ramone - 2001, Beaker - 2004, Willie Nelson - 2005, and Prince - 2007). I know that this is only just the majority gender and all, but do you think it should get noted on the toon's page? Rexy 17:39, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Put it in Remarks. — MichaelXX2 20:42, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Ghost in the Graveyard?
Title a reference to that kids tag-variant, perhaps?
Something doesn't add up...
It's starting to be a running gag thing where, in the teaser, Strong Bad has an awesome costume and turns out to have one nothing like it in the real toon. But, in Jibblies 2, someone (I think it was Strong Sad) pointed this out in the toon at the end. That didn't happen this time. That doesn't make sense to me... SuperfieldCreditUnion
- Hmm. In Happy Hallow-Day, Homestar starts the toon in "not his real costume" and in Jibblies 2 Strong Bad had a differently-shaped costume in the prior teaser toon. I don't think it's happened either way before, not that I recall anyway. I think you're presuming they're the same gag, when they really aren't, i don't think. Anyway, there's not required to use all their funny bits every year: wiches brew got some time off. - Qermaq - (T/C) 19:00, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, again, in Happy Hallow-Day and Jibblies 2, someone points out the different costume thing. Homestar announces that it isn't his Halloween costume and Coach Z (not Strong Sad, like I earlier thought) mentions that he thought Strong Bad was going to be the alien, referring to the trailer. However, this time, there's not even a hint as to the switch. It just feels like there's something missing there; it's not like TBC to just leave it without an explanation/referral. Sheep's Revenge
it occurs to me, could the undead sheep be at all connected to The King of Town DVD? after all, the KoWT was a sheep eater, and his backyard graveyard is inhabited by an undead carnivorous sheep... thoughts? --Zatchman (Neumannz) 19:12, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- I actually wondered the same thing when I first saw the toon, but I think it can only be considered speculation on our part, as the KOT vaguely mentions its origins as an experiment. If there was no explanation in the toon, I'd probably be more inclined to think that there's a connection with the King of Town DVD. NoMayonnaise
- When KOT said that about it being a test animal, and with me having watched KOT DVD the day before, I thought the little chef guy was experimenting with some new sauce... Strongkinghomsarsmith 22:28, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- This is all speculation though, nothing is stated or even implied to this effect. — Defender1031*Talk 22:32, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

I couldn't do it... for very long...
Strong Sad's inability to hold his breath is a reference to Halloween Fairstival. 173.32.221.240 20:20, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- It's Possible, that's the first thing that came to my mind. — MichaelXX2 20:30, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- really? i thought it was more of a "strong sad's ridiculously out of shape/having asthma issues again"-type deal --Zatchman (Neumannz) 20:51, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Just for the record, (in case it gets removed from the page) I agree. — Defender1031*Talk 22:36, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Graves
I think there should be a page of the graves from this cartoon. Zwendel
Happy Carousel of Progress
Is it worth noting that part of the Carousel (the 1940s scene) takes place during Halloween? BBG 20:44, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Backyardiganz
Although, the Gravediggaz(?) rap group, seems more appropriate, as it was a Coach Z scene, I actually think that (as someone already said) it was also a Backyardigans refference, I have left the rap group thing in, because I agree with it aswell, It is not impossible to refference 2 things at once.
1. Backyardigans sounds like Graveyeardiganz more than Gravediggaz or whatever) does.
2. Backyardigans is a music based series.
3. There has already been a Yo Gabba Gabba refference in this episode, proving that TBC are (thankfully) not afraid to refference shows primarilly aimed at children. (I actually watch Backyardigans from time to time - not too keen on YGG though) Also note that both shows are on Nick Jr. MJN SEIFER 21:03, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Candy bars
Does it need to be mentioned in "Real World References" that 100 Grand is also a candy bar? Just wondered, since you mentioned Watchamacallits. --Wordmama 22:39, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Probably not. I think even if you'd never seen or eaten them before you'd be able to tell what they are from the context. I'd completely forgotten about Whatchamacallits until reading here of the reference so I'd imagine others wouldn't initially notice it either. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 02:53, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- I think all candy bars mentioned/referenced should be listed in one Real-World Reference. What can it hurt? OptimisticFool 02:56, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Say it! Say it!
The article mentions that Strong Sad's comments in the Strong Bad easter egg are typical of Sam Kennison's stand-up act. While this is true, it seems to me that it's a direct reference to his scene in the movie "Back to School." The "Say it! Say it!" line is a direct quote from the movie.
- Are you sure? I don't remember. Either I'm not noticing or I'm just dumb. Sonicfirestorm44 04:25, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Here's a link to a YouTube video of the scene in question: [1] (note--contains some language that would make the kiddies blush). The "Say it! Say it!" line occurs at around 2:00-2:10.
42
I've seen it somewhere else on the site. Where? Does this constitute an inside joke? DrPepper42 13:40, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure too. The only reason I'm not making a Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy/Douglas Adams page is because I don't now what toon/game the refs are in. Strongkinghomsarsmith 23:12, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Double Dead Insult?
Is it possible that Bubs thought Coach Z was reffering to both Zgor and Mort, whose tombstones are side by side, when he thought of Coach Zgor Mortis? That Game Dude 386 14:59, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Is Strong Sad Dead?
I want to know: is he really dead? Did he will himself to death? If not, why did he not show up in those pictures? Was the grave haunted? A User who couldn't remember his password, --72.93.240.37 16:19, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- That's the joke. Strong Sad is so depressed that he willed himself to death and because of that he isn't show... gah. I just don't know. — MichaelXX2 16:20, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's just a refferal to the lore that vampires and ghosts (and, apparently, Strong Sads) don't show up in reflections and photos. That Game Dude 386 23:23, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Which is interesting since Strong Sad HAD shown up in photos previously. -WarthogDemon 23:50, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Trivia
- Pom Pom and The Cheat's costumes is a nod to the comic's artist, Rob Schrab, who made a downloadable guest wallpaper for Trogdor's 5th Birthday
This seems unrelated. Their costumes are from that comic. — Defender1031*Talk 16:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
That doesn't mean it can't also be a shout out to the artist.
- Over a period of nine Halloweens, five of Marzipan's costumes have involved cross-dressing.
Noted already in inside references. — Defender1031*Talk 16:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Remarks
- Homsar and the Carnivorous Undead Sheep are drawn with black outlines, instead of the thick, colored outline style of everything else in the Homestar Runner Universe.
Captain caveman is drawn that way, and the sheep is black and white. — Defender1031*Talk 16:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Still, they are stylised, which we have an article on. Somewhere. That Game Dude 386 23:36, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Surely the sheep was designed to match the old art style that the King's sheep appeared in, so it'd be obvious it was one of -those- sheep.
- That proves nothing, and this isn't the discussion for that proof anyway. — Defender1031*Talk 02:07, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Surely the sheep was designed to match the old art style that the King's sheep appeared in, so it'd be obvious it was one of -those- sheep.
- It seems unusual that Strong Sad would read The Hitchhikers Series, as he has never shown any interest in humor.
It's still a nerdy book. — Defender1031*Talk 16:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Real-World References
- Space Mountain, Mr. Toad's, Tom Sawyer's Island, and Carousel of Progress are all attractions at Disney theme parks, specifically the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. However, neither park currently contains all four attractions since Disneyland's Carousel of Progress closed in 1973 and Disney World's Mr. Toad closed in 1998. Disney World's Carousel of Progress includes a Halloween scene. The Goofy lot refers to the parks' parking lots being named after Disney characters.

- Homestar's line when clicking on Marzipan at the end refers to "Pride and Joy", a song of Stevie Ray Vaughan's from his 1983 album Texas Flood.
It's a common phrase. — Defender1031*Talk 16:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- I've gotta stop you there, DeFender1031. I'm pretty sure
jorb is a four letters wordthat it's a ref. It doesn't seem likely that it's just a coincidence. SuperfieldCreditUnion- A coincidence? How is it even that much? The phrase "pride and joy" is very common. I see nothing linking it to this specific song. — Defender1031*Talk 21:54, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- A coincidence with them randomly picking that phrase and it being the title of a song that was written by whoever Marzipan dressed up as. And the prase "pride and joy" isn't common everywhere. I argue for it being a reference. SuperfieldCreditUnion
- I'm an idiot and didn't notice that it was by the same guy... good pwize! — Defender1031*Talk 22:08, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

- Homestar Runner argues with himself about his costume, mistakenly suggesting it to be of Carrot Top, a stand-up comedian noted for his use of props, his large orange hair, and being a former spokesperson for AT&T during their "Dial Down the Center" campaign. He then mistakenly "corrects" himself to actually be Crocodile Dundee, the titular character from the 1986 comedy movie. Crocodile Dundee was played by Paul Hogan who, like Yahoo Serious, is Australian.
Only removed the bold part, cause it seems unimportant here. The reference is the hair. — Defender1031*Talk 16:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Not sure that much pruning is needed. And Homestar has props in the lineup at the end, and most halloween costumes of celebrities are explained. That Game Dude 386 23:30, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Questionable fact
- Strong Bad's line "Is there some secret period in history when hobos ruled the Earth that I'm unaware of?" could possibly refer to John Hodgman's book "The Areas of My Expertise", which features a non-factual factual account of such an era as a major section of the book.
Can someone please verify this? — Defender1031*Talk 16:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- As an owner of the book, I can say that there is a tale of when Hobos took control of some of the US Federal Government. This seems a more likely reference as Mr. Hodgman has gained more notoriety lately due to his PC commercials, his appearances on The Daily Show. He even has a new book out! Hobo Matters make up about 1/3 the book, so it's more than just a passing reference. I'd say it's worth consideration. - Flashfight, who needs to log in.
Price 100 grand
If the goblin really did turn Homestar's 100 grand candy bars into gold, with the price of gold at 724 US dollars an ounce (as of November 1st), and one "fun size" 100 grand candy is about 1.5 ounces, it would take about 92.2 candy bars for Homestar and Pom Pom to get $100,000 from those.
Does this deserve a place?
equation:
(100000/724)/1.5
(the total $ needed) divided by the total ounceage of the candy.
Or something like that.
- Well, I'm trying really hard to write a long dissertation here, but this is not fun, will be incorrect on a daily basis (on a continual basis during trading hours) and more importantly is missing a key number, that is the number of candy bars. Using $100,000 to figure out the number of candy bars is foolish. Without the number of candy bars, your work (as laudable as it is) simply has no place in the article.
