Despite numerous design changes, Strong Mad's basic shape has been more or less constant, the only major changes he has gone through is with his singlet, which has altered in color, and one point, lost and regained the trademark "M".
Image | Info | Created | Appearances | What's Changed? |
---|---|---|---|---|
Early sketches | 1996 | Sketchbook (museum); flashback (middle right); alternate universe | N/A | |
First design | 1999 | Marshmallow's Last Stand; Old Characters Page | N/A | |
Second design | 2000 | A Jumping Jack Contest; Strong Libs; Yearbook Character Page (in photo); Dancin' Bubs | His singlet has changed to blue. The chest hairs have disappeared, as has most of the shading. The outline is thinner and his skin is lighter and less reddish. His toes are thicker and more rounded. The point on his nose has moved down and left. | |
Third design | 2000 | Theme Song Video; Strong Bad Sings; Homestarloween Party | The outline is now colored. He has brighter colors. | |
Fourth design | 2000 | A Holiday Greeting; Tis True, Pom Pom, Tis True; Yearbook Character Page; The House That Gave Sucky Treats | The "M" on his singlet is gone, his eyebrows are less slanted, and the shading is more advanced. | |
Current design | 2001 | Toons from A Jorb Well Done to current; various Strong Bad Emails starting with little animal; Teen Girl Squad Issue 10 | His outine is thicker and darker. His shoes are also darker. His eyebrows are slightly more slanted. The "M" is back, but darker and with more white space and less shading. The shading is even more advanced. His mouth is a bit smaller, and when he speaks, his voice is slightly higher (this is because his voice is not slowed down like it was in earlier designs) and also raspier. He also talks more often, instead of the occasional growls and grunts he made before and his nose is facing a different direction, though it does still point left on occasion (usually when he faces left). |
