Being video game fans, The Brothers Chaps have occasionally made reference to the Mortal Kombat series.
Appearances
- Peasant's Quest — Naked Ned popping in and out from the tree is similar to Smoke from Mortal Kombat II in the living forest level, where he would occasionally pop out, look, and return behind the tree.
- Email strong badathlon — Homestar fighting himself is reminiscent of the classic Mortal Kombat "Mirror Matches".
- 8-Bit is Enough — When summoning Boxer Joe, Strong Bad sometimes says "Round 1, FIGHT!" the same way the announcer does in Mortal Kombat.
- Hremail 2000 (Easter egg) — When Homestar vs. Shadow Homestar fight, the gruff announcer says "Round 1, FIGHT!" in a voice very similar to the announcer in Mortal Kombat. His laugh is also reminiscent of a certain sound effect in the series.
- I Killed Pom Pom — Strong Mad dresses as Goro, the four armed Shokan from the first game in the series. In his Easter egg, he says "I'M A BABALITY!", referencing the finishers called babalities, where the winner turns their opponent into a baby.
