Talk:Stinkoman 20X6 Source Files
From Homestar Runner Wiki
um. are we even really allowed to facilitate downloading like that?
- This stuff is freely available for anyone to download. We just link it conveniently. Besides, don't you download all this stuff anyway if you play Stinkoman 20X6? Homestar Coder 20:50, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
- You do, and sometimes repeatedly! A local copy saves bandwith for hsr, and therefore bandwidth costs. Why re-download it every time for cache when you can do it just once and never have a problem? The thing is, 1.3, 2.3, and 3.1 and 3.2 are all not listed for leveldata. Do they not exist, are they not needed, or was the original txt file (which didn't have them either) inaccurate? --anon 21:38, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- It doesn't have them because of the way those levels are designed. All that's in the xml files are placements of objects. Since 1.3 and 2.3 are nothing but a background, the floor, and the respective bosses, TBC probably just hard-coded these levels into the main swf file. And levels 3.1 and 3.2 are random placements of the objects that are in that level, there's no reason for level data there either. --NFITC1

Cutscene
Why is there a listed a cutscene before level 9.3 and 7.3 ? There is no cutscene before level 7.3 or 9.3. Tampo (T/C)
- I haven't looked into the cutscene code, but I think that the black space before said levels is the cutscene. I'm going to add them back for the sake of completeness. --ENUSY 16:19, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
XML
The following discussion has been copied only as a reference. The original inactive discussion is found here.
Did anyone notice that you can download and edit the XML files to create new levels? This could be good for the Fanstuff Wiki, if anyone gets it working. --EDSMILDE - Care to share where they are? :) --AndrewNeo 18:05, 22 Mar 2005 (MST) Well, I think you have to edit the flash file to get them to work offline first (which is not too hard). They are at: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] Those are the ones I found in my temp folder (even though I didn't get to those levels). If you go to View -> Page Source in Firefox, you can kinda figure out how it works (maybe). --EDSMILDE Edit: Darn, the links don't work. They are in some other folder. Once I figure out the folder name, the game will work offline. And they don't show up on Google yet. Ooh - found it - They're in another folder called "levelData." EDSMILDE -As a note for other people wanting to edit, you need to get the 5 level files, the main swf, and the object library: [7]. (You can see some game graphics if you view that file) It's a pretty simple almost-XML format, I'm making a level editor for it now. Travis Wells
- Woah. New enemy in that library. If anything confirms another set of levels coming up, that would. --Shadow Hog 15:07, 23 Mar 2005 (MST)
- Hey, I was just about to make a level editor for it, but it probably won't be very good. EDSMILDE
- Hey, if you decompile the flash file for the game you'll see there is already a level editor in there on the script for sprite 761. Unfortunately I don't know anything about flash, so I don't know what to do with that, or how to get to it, but someone must.
I know all about Flash, but I don't have a decompiler -NonHacka NOTE: With the release of Stinkoman 20X6 v6, those links have become outdated. The new ones are here. --ENUSY , 16:48, 4 August 2005 (BST)
- I'm working on an editor written in VB using the MSXML library. --breadtangle 18:30, 6 Apr 2005 (MDT)
EDIT: Moved all links to my user page. Arghh...I Made the installation program but i need a site to upload it onto. Can someone tell me one? --- [[User:Pertmywert|Pertmywert|Talk Contributions]]
- Email it to me and I'll host it for you, if you'd like. --phlip 08:02, 5 May 2005 (UTC)

I already have a great working editor for this game, a new version has just been released. Check it out here: http://www.superjoesoftware.be/software/stinkoman.exe Can someone please make a level editor compatible with MacOS?--Darklinkskywalker 20:38, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- Pertmywert has sent me the new version: http://phlip.websiteallies.com/Stinkoman_20X6_Install_v3.exe - I'll keep the v2 one up incase anyone's interested. --phlip 23:44, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
- OH WHAT THE CRAP!!!! Do need Flash or something for this? Not Flash Player, but the animator thingie? Every time I click on a link it doesnt work!!! PLEASE HELP!!!
- Which links are you trying to click on, the ones in this section, the ones on the Stinkoman 20X6 page, or the ones on my user page? --ENUSY , 16:50, 4 August 2005 (BST)
IS This Right?
When I download some of the cutscenes, they are very small in size (1.1.3 is 13 kb) and when I open them, it's just a bit of background on either side with a big black square in the middle. Is this right? Coachstar Bad<>Talk Page 16:13, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. Some of them are very small because there is no cutscene there, and the cutscene file is just a placeholder - take eg cutscene1.1.2.swf, which plays between levels 1.1 and 1.2 - there is no cutscene between those levels. cutscene1.1.3.swf is small because it is short and simple. As for when you open them up on their own, they won't do anything, because they try to talk to the game - if you don't watch them through the game then they won't work. --phlip TC 12:06, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
No Projectiles
I've downloaded every file, but for some reason, Stinkoman's firey fists don't shoot out, and Browntant's firedots don't either. So, can anyone remedy the situation? Coachstar Bad<>Talk Page
I'm've having the same problem. Any helpgestions? - Saladman
Cutscenes?
I'm just wondering, are you able to view the cutscenes in a browser? or must you piece the files together? Sincerely, VmKid 02:13, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, the cutscenes themselves are in the Flash file for the game. You'll need something like the Greasemonkey script for Firefox in order to view them. --75.5.176.233 02:34, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- I tried to play the game and using the control bar thing, I moved through the game and couldn't find the cutscene I was looking for. Do I have to look directly at the file? i'll try that. 24.190.7.178 03:24, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Object Library
The object library is just part of a purple octopus thing and a "Shield Alley" sign. --Fangoriously 21:35, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Level 3.1/3.2
Why isn't there the files for level 3.1 and 3.2. ...I looked at and older version of the page and they were there. Jezzamon 07:36, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Ending cutscene?
I've found most of the Level 10 source files using the same template as all the others, but I can't seem to find the SWF for the ending cutscene. (Also, there are Level 1.3, 1.4, 2.3 and 2.4 XMLs on the site; why are these not logged?) -- 50.4.167.5 20:43, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
- First off, thank you very much for your contributions, 50.4.167.5! And thank you for bringing this page to my attention. I forgot it even existed! I would like to request if you could add any resources that you know are missing to the page. I cannot answer your question about the cut screen resource, perhaps someone with the appropriate tools can find out? --Stux 20:58, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, I've added all the missing XML and SWF links, save for the ending cutscene and the credits,
which still need to be found. Anyone who can do some digging, it would be greatly appreciated!-- 50.4.167.5 21:28, 21 December 2020 (UTC)- Never mind, the source files have been found! Apparently the game treats the credits as Level 11 internally. I've linked the XML and SWF files, so we now have a complete set for the Level 10 update. -- 50.4.167.5 22:32, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome! Excellent finds! I don't know how you did it but that's pretty cool! Now we should be able to download the files and play the game locally! (In theory.) Thanks again for your hard work! --Stux 22:43, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Downloads not working!
Every time I try to download the XML files it gives me (I'll be using Level 1.1 for this example):
