[edit] Link to Arms

Love the article, but I think this needs a more obvious link to Lack of Visible Arms, much like Severed Body Parts has an obvious links to Strong Sad's Severed Head. Since it's a new article, I'm being bold and adding it, but opening this up for discussion in case there are complaints. OptimisticFool 03:22, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] more pizzazz

BadBadGuy, Who deleted my contribution to this page, please let me be. If you do, I will change this wiki to a better state. If not I will make R.I.P on your talk page and user page. So wich is it? Justin I'm a man on the prowl and I stick up for myself! The city is at night and I'm dancin' dancin'! Homsar solo!Master of Nature 14:01, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

If you didn't read that talk page I linked to in the summary, then Qermaq brought up the possibility that everybody would have visible teeth if they opened their mouths really wide. Unlike Coach Z's mouth, which is physically invisible, everybody's teeth could simply be covered by their lips (I couldn't think of a better word). Don't tase me, but I would like to keep the page the way it was before until we reach a consencus of the notability of teeth. Bad Bad Guy 16:52, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't think there are enough unambiguous examples of "invisible teeth" to merit it. Plus their rareness in the H*R universe is most likely to their not being needed for the characters anyway; in other words, an animation reason rather than a character reason. And, Justin, you might not be aware that while posting on someone's talk page is permitted, users are asked not to edit another user's user page. After finding that 3rd reference just now, I do believe Fingers belongs in its own section. But that leaves the matter of where we should put the solitary defininte reference to a character having no teeth at all. Bad Bad Guy 21:30, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Hornblower?

Shouldn't The Hornblower have information on here? He's able to play his instruments, yet he lacks a visible mouth like Coach Z. ZootyCutie 23:58, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Other" Image

Which would be more relevant? Bad Bad Guy 04:02, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
I think that the Marzipan's nose picture quite nicely illustrates the other. It also helps balance out what is a Strong Bad image heavy page. wbwolf (t | ed) 01:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Are Thumbs Fingers?

I remember reading in a few magazines that they are not. Should "If Bubs had thumbs etc." go in "Other" or "Fingers"? Bad Bad Guy 19:10, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Fingers. technically they're "digits", a class which consists of fingers, thumbs, and toes, but they're referred to as fingers in the vernacular. Only the science/biology-types really give a care. — Defender1031*Talk 19:20, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Which is better for fingers? single deuce pic or original pic?
The pic we have now should be good. Bad Bad Guy 20:56, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm a science guy and I don't care. In fact I created the Fingers section. -I'm a man on the prowl and I stick up for myself! The city is at night and I'm dancin' dancin'! Homsar solo!Master of Nature 15:52, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Invisible teeth?

In the toon "No hands on deck" in the scene where Homestar is talking to Bubs, the toothpick in Homestar's mouth seems to float in the middle of his mouth when he opens it. Perhaps Homestar has invisible teeth, despite the fact of visible teeth in "Theme Song." --Kanjiro talk 07:40, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Costume Rip

I don't see why everybody thinks the rip in Marzipan's The House That Gave Sucky Treats costume proves that she doesn't have legs. Has it occured to anybody that the rip could just be on her leg? weirded out, Strongkinghomsarsmith

Actually, I noticed the skin inside the rip is a different color than Marzipan's skin, and may just be part of the costume. Like, skin-colored plastic like they have on some costumes.

Pointy King 21:56, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

You are incorrect. I just did a color check (using the computer, rather than my eyes), and they are in fact the same color. — Defender1031*Talk 22:00, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, well what about the original question? Strongkinghomsarsmith 21:47, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
How many legs do you know of that stick out that far? — Defender1031*Talk 21:58, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
She could have Soolnds, large legs/feet, or have multiple legs. After all, she is a dumb animal character. Strongkinghomsarsmith 22:06, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
That's not how it's shaped. Why don't you go watch that toon to see what i mean. Further, all of that is speculation. — Defender1031*Talk 22:18, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
1. I just did watch the toon. 2. It's a circular rip. There's no visible shape. 3. On another talk page, someone (I forget who) said "This wiki is full of speculation". Strongkinghomsarsmith 22:37, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Isn't it speculation to say the rip reveals she has no legs? DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 22:38, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
her skin is flat against the hole, and the wiki's not full of speculation, and we are against speculation, no matter what people on talk pages say. — Defender1031*Talk 22:40, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
I think you just speculated that the wiki is not full of speculation, while I speculate that it is. Take that we speculate that the Shadowy Figure is 20X6 Coach Z. Strongkinghomsarsmith 22:45, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
we don't report that as fact. we report that it's a similar shape. this is true. this is also tangential. please stay focused on the debate at hand. further, i think we need to wait for more opinions, as going back and forth with just us will get us nowhere. — Defender1031*Talk 22:48, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
True. If the forum was up, we could make a poll. Or can we do that here? Strongkinghomsarsmith 22:52, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

our discussions are decided by consensus, not vote, and in any case, opinion on the forum has no bearing on wiki content. — Defender1031*Talk 23:09, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

ok. eventually, more people will come here. maybe. and i thought consensuses were made by voting. Strongkinghomsarsmith 23:32, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
I think it's intentionally ambiguous and thus unknowable for sure, but the majority of references seem to indicate that she does not have legs in the traditional sense. For the most part, the skirt is her legs, like the gloves are Strong Bad's hands. — It's dot com 17:42, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion about picture to accompany featured article

{discussion moved here from HRWiki:Featured Article Selection} Heimstern Läufer 03:26, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm starting to think one of the Marzipan pictures would be a better choice for the box than the Strong Bad picture I selected earlier. Which picture do you like best? BBG 21:21, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

What Marzipan picture are you talking about? The one with Marzipan's "nose" or her "legs"? MHarrington 06:34, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
That's the problem. I can't decide which of those two (3 if you count the Strong Bad picture) is best. BBG 15:45, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I think the boot one is good. -128.103.10.135 19:01, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I think the nose one looks more obvious, though. MHarrington 19:57, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
If, by the nose picture, you mean the picture shown in Marzipan's answering machine, I think the other one should be chosen, because that picture shows her not being born without a nose, but instead removed it, thus not supporting the emphasis intended on the lack of visible body parts, that being that the characters are born lacking certain features. OpenSourceGreg 07:14, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
I think that Strong Bad one (where he has sunscreen on his "nose") looks decent enough. That image of the boot just doesn't look so obvious. MHarrington 16:29, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
To me, that picture doesn't really highlight the topic. Even with the sunscreen there it doesn't really stand out to me as "Hey, that guy doesn't have a nose!". Of the pictures on this page I think the one with Homestar in a trenchcoat most visually accentuates the missing body part.  Green Helmet 15:49, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
The problem with that picture is that it makes it look like we're featuring "Lack of Visible Arms" again for no apparent reason. BBG 16:28, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I see your point. I still don't think the nose b/w sunscreen image evokes the topic at a glance, but it's a perfectly fine choice.  Green Helmet 17:09, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Strong Bad's Nose

When we say that Strong Bad refers to Tiny-Handed Strong Bad as "Strong Bad with sort of a nose", I don't think we're implementing the full context. In context, I percieve it as, ""Ha ha ha ha! That guy is talking to a thing that's not a person!" cackled Strong Bad with sort of a nose.", and the 'sort of a nose' means that Strong Bad is being rude. Am I right, or is this just some rambling my head made up? OpenSourceGreg 13:33, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I think the simple, straightforward explanation is the correct one (that is, that Homestar is saying Strong Bad sort of has a nose because of the way he's drawn there). The more abstract interpretation seems a bit of a stretch, as I've never heard that expression used in that way elsewhere. "Looking down one's nose", certainly, but not "sort of a nose" or just "a nose". — It's dot com 14:23, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I hear it a lot. Maybe it's just a Southern expression. --4.153.23.101 15:49, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Maybe I should have looked at more than just the first several pages, but Google doesn't really back that up. It's interesting that our article is the first result there, too. — It's dot com 18:52, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
