*After clicking on the "G" for the above Easter egg, press "up up down down left right left right B A" consecutively on the keyboard. When you click to start the game, you will begin with 30 lives.
*During the game, hit the "k" key to kick the game. This doesn't seem to give the player any advantage, but it does cause the machine to repeat the word "TROGDOR!" (a reference to [[Arcade Game]]).
*Certain huts contain gold. To get to them, Trogdor must burninate certain huts that block them.  Be careful not to burninate the hut itself, as the gold inside will be inaccessible. If you enter a treasure hut, you will not be able to get any that come later in the game except in rounds with the same exact level map as the one you entered. For example, level 11 and level 43 have the same exact maps for the distribution of huts: if you get the treasure in level 11, you will not be able to get the treasure on level 16, but you will be able to get the one on level 43 because its map is identical to 11's, and then you won't be able to get it on 48, but you will be able to on 75 which is again the same as 11 and 43 (no more repetitions of that occur since the next one would be 107 and the game ends at 100).
**Some of these huts are:
**On level 7, the leftmost hut. Burninate the 4 huts in the way. 
**On level 11, the lower right hut. Burninate the huts around it. 
**On level 16, the upper left hut. Burninate the three huts in the way.
**On level 43, which is identical to level 11.
**On level 48, which is identical to level 16.
**On level 75, which is identical to level 11 and 43.
*If more than 2,000 points are scored and the player gets a game over, [[Jonathan Howe]]'s name is shown flashing at the bottom of the game screen.
* If the computer's clock is set to January 13th ([[Trogday (holiday)|Trogday]]), every time you go to the next level, it plays the game over music.

== Tips ==
*If a peasant makes it back into their cottage, a point is lost on the meter of peasants squished (unless the meter is already empty). This can be frustrating when some cottages are inaccessible. Make sure to not miss opportunities to squish peasants on these levels.
*Knights move in a pattern consisting of two moves (repeated over and over), completely ignoring Trogdor and the peasants. Their pattern gets "mirrored" when they hit a wall. Learning their patterns is one of the keys to doing well in the game.
*When Trogdor burninates peasants, they will run back to their cottage, which will burninate the cottage without need for direct burnination.
*Peasants will still come out of burninated cottages, though Trogdor can walk right through these cottages. Knights and arrows can go through any cottage.
*Archers appear in much greater frequency when progressing farther in the game, but knights tend to be the main obstacle. Be sure to pay attention to the edges of the screen for archers. Arrows go at about the same speed as Trogdor.

*Using a [http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/flash.html seek bar] suggests that this game was originally intended to have a high-score board. It actually does [http://www.homestarrunner.kitkorp.com/trogdor.html here]; unfortunately, this version has the old impossible level 27 (see below) and some bugs.
*Flex it Troggie, Forbidden Peasant Love, Smote That Kerrek, and Strong Bad's scene are the only four animations that use art that isn't used during gameplay.

===Remarks===
*In [[Peasant's Quest]], it shows that Trogdor is invincible, but he can die in this game. He is also significantly smaller.
*When an archer kills Trogdor, it shows Trogdor with several arrows stuck in him, even though the archer shot only one.
*When Trogdor gets sworded, the knight is still holding his sword and there is one sticking out of Trogdor.
*Strong Bad sings that Trogdor comes in the night, but the sky on several levels clearly shows Trogdor rampaging in broad daylight, or at sunset.

===Goofs===
*Sometimes, the peasants and knights walk too far upwards and end up standing in the sky.
*Trogdor doesn't actually have to step on the peasants; just have them pass over Trogdor's sprite to do the job.
**This also works inversely, for being SWORDED!.
*When the G on the "TROGDOR!" title is held down, the word "invincible" is spelled incorrectly. This is in both versions.
*On the Wii version, when the Videlectrix logo appears, and "le presente" is under it, the latter phrase almost immediately shifts over to the left by a little bit.

===Fixed Goofs===

*Level 27 was well nigh impossible. The peasant-paths were accessible only for 2 of the 6 cottages, so for every peasant Trogdor squished there were 2 left to wander back into their cottages (diminishing the burninator meter). Meanwhile, the cottages themselves walled him in to a very small area, which made him a sitting duck for archers and knights. This level was "fixed" as of February 12, 2005, making it much simpler to beat. The change is documented in the [[FAQ]].

===Glitches===
*Pausing causes a purple ball to become visible on the screen.
*If the game is paused as soon as Trogdor dies and there is a knight standing in the space where Trogdor respawns, Trogdor will be slain over and over and lose lives while the game is still paused.
*If Trogdor dies as soon as he achieves burnination status, he will come back to life with burnination, assuming the player has any mans left.
* When the game is paused while a cottage is burninating, it will continue to burninate until it is destroyed.
*Sometimes Trogdor will get "SWORDED" just because he is near the knight, not necessarily making contact with him.
*In the .swf version, right click and click play after the knight swords Trogdor on the last man to start at -1 mans, but click play again for game over.
*If the game is paused at the "LEVEL BEATEN" screen, Trogdor will be unmovable afterward and cannot unpause.
*If Trogdor is still burninating when he goes into a secret room, it will show the flame where he last was.
*For a very short moment after burnination stops (and the fire is no longer visible), Trogdor can still burninate cottages and peasants.
*Sometimes, while in a treasure hut, Trogdor will get randomly "SWORDED" but he won't lose any lives.
*If Trogdor burninates a peasant, then runs out of burnination and squishes that same peasant, then one of the cottages may spontaneously combust after a short time.
*Right before the "Stompin' Good" cutscene, the "It's Over!" screen flashes for a split second.
*If Trogdor gets SWORDED! right after he achieves burnination status, he will appear to be shooting fire out of his arm.
*Sometimes, the "Ohh... this is the best game I've ever played" quote and the "And the Trogdor comes in the niiiiight!!" quote play at the same time when you beat a  level.
*The music from the It's Over! screen sometimes starts playing between levels.
*It is possible for the "Oh, Trogdor! I pine for you" quote to play at the Game Over screen with 1000 or more points.

===Fixed Glitches===
*If the game is paused (using the space bar) when an archer is out pulling his bow, he will get stuck there until the end of the level, even if Trogdor dies there.
**As of February 12, 2005, this glitch has been fixed so that archers will disappear after unpausing the game and reappear as normal. However, the glitch is still present on the [http://www.homestarrunner.kitkorp.com/trogdor.html version that includes a high score list.]

===Real-World References===
*The {{wp|Arch Deluxe}} was a [[McDonald's]] hamburger that was discontinued due to its lack of popularity.
*Jonathan Howe's name being an Easter egg is a reference to {{wp|Adventure (Atari 2600)|Adventure}} for the [[Atari 2600]].  When it was made, Atari intentionally kept game designers from achieving celebrity status (or getting a sniff of royalties/credit).  In rebellion to this, {{wp|Warren Robinett}} hid his name inside what is commonly regarded as the first video game Easter egg.  It was accessible only by picking up an invisible object, carrying it through a dragon-infested maze, and touching it to a blank wall.  Doing this revealed a room with Warren's name plastered all over in rainbow colors.
*{{wp|Wordly Wise}} is a series of textbooks designed to build student's vocabulary. What this has to do with the [[Kerrek]] is unknown, though it can be assumed that this "Wordly Wise" is an actor.
*When Trogdor dies, the replay button says "CHALLENGE AGAIN!". This references the ending of {{wp|Ghosts 'n Goblins}}, which says the same thing.
*"Fry 'em up Dan" is a direct quote from {{wp|Shel Silverstein}}'s poem "Ladies First".
*The peasants in love is a reference to the video game [[Pac-Man]] by [[Namco]], in which Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man move onto the screen and a heart forms above them.
*The page title for the Viidelectrix version is a reference to the motto of ''{{wp|Klax (computer game)|Klax}}'', a video game from the '80s, whose motto was "It is the nineties and there is time for ...  ''Klax''".
*The code that must be entered for the Easter egg to start the game with 30 lives is the {{wp|Konami code}}.

===Fast Forward===
*[[Dan]], from the caption "Fry 'em up Dan", is later used in [[Thy Dungeonman II]] and [[Peasant's Quest]], as well as [[Stinkoman 20X6]], and possibly [[Kid Speedy]]. This seems to have become a running gag with all of the new games.
*The odd pronunciation of Trogdor's name as "Trog'd'or" would later be used in [[Happy Trogday]] for [[Trogador]], a [[20X6]] version of Trogdor.

*Unlike previous Viidelectrix games, TROGDOR! is controlled via the [[Wikipedia:D-pad|D-pad]] instead of the Wii-mote pointer. This is through an implementation of [[Wikipedia:WiiCade#The WiiCade API|the WiiCade API]], which would explain the additional programming credit to the developers.
*The Konami code cheat is enabled, but cannot be used on a Wii (no Wii-mote button is mapped to the "B" key, so the cheat cannot be completed).
*If playing on a PC, the "A" key now functions as the pause button.
*The Videlectrix logo and title screen can be skipped when the player presses the A button (or clicks).

== HTML5 Version ==
For Trogday 2018, a mobile-friendly HTML5 version of TROGDOR! was released and linked to from the [[index page]]. It introduced a number of changes; some aesthetic, others serving to decrease difficulty.
*There is a different loading screen.
*The text "Programmed by Jonathan Howe" in the instructions has been changed to "Original by Jonathan Howe", followed by "Programmed by Aeon Softworks".
*Peasants that safely return to their cottage no longer deduct points from the squished peasants counter.
*The flames over the "BURNINATE" text that appears after the 10th peasant is stomped shrinks and disappears instead of shifting in size.
*Upon achieving burnination status, Strong Bad will sometimes recite the new line "Advantage: Strong Bad".
**This line was also present in the original game, but went unused due to a bug.
*The WASD keys can now be used to move Trogdor.
*The "LEVEL BEATEN" text color on the level cleared screen was changed from red to white.
*Peasants who walk past other huts sometimes clip beneath them rather than over them. Trogdor can also occasionally clip through huts.
*Treasure huts are accessible from every layout that features one, rather than the just the layout where the player first enters one.
*Archers no longer increase in frequency with advancing levels.
*Extra lives were initially a lot easier to obtain at first release.
*On mobile devices touchscreen can be used to move Trogdor.
*On mobile devices a clickable pause button has been added.
*If the HTML5 version is accessed on certain mobile devices, the page redirects to a mobile version at a different URL. The mobile version has some changes compared to the regular version:
**The game takes up more of the screen.
**There is a blue "PLAY" button after the loading screen.
