[edit] Old Gregg reference

It may be possible that the 'blinding voip' from Science Fiction Greg's chest may be a reference to The Mighty Boosh, in which whenever Old Gregg lifts his (its?) skirt a light shines out.— Fishheadmonkey (Talk | contribs) 18:48, 18 December 2006 (UTC) (left unsigned)

I for one have no idea what you're referring to. A link, perhaps? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 19:52, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
The Mighty Boosh: [1]
Old Gregg: [2]
But it appears that I was mistaken, as series 2 of The Mighty Boosh (in which Old Gregg first appears) doesn't seem to have ever been shown in america. — (Talk | contribs) 12:55, 20 December 2006 (UTC) (left unsigned)

[edit] Mitch Hedberg

Anyone ever notice that sci-fi greg look like mitch hedberg? 14:50, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Split Filmography?

I think as it is, it looks messy having to say "(this greg only)". Anyone else think each one should have their own filmography subsection? — Defender1031*Talk 19:22, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree. _-Dr. S-_ 02:46, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
They should. BBG 22:26, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Greg names

First, I think Sci-Fi Greg should just be officially referred to as such, not as Science Fiction Greg. I realize that What's Her Face called him by his long name, but I think that's similar to how someone might refer to someone who usually goes by Mike as Michael. "Sci-Fi Greg" is written on his shirt, TBC call him that in the commentary for Teen Girl Squad Issue 11, and that's how it's sung in the opening song to 4 Gregs. Second, why to we currently spell D N'D Greg's name with a capital N and no space between the N' and the final D? There seems to be another space on his shirt, and I'd think that "D N' D Greg" or "D n' D Greg" would be more consistent. — It's dot com 05:22, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Agree completely. - 16:09, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Regular Greg

I don't think regular Greg should be on this page because he's not part of the gang (although mentioning him as a footnote with a link is fine). He's a Greg, but he's not one of the Gregs. If necessary, I would support renaming this article "The Four Gregs" to explicitly exclude regular Greg. — It's dot com 20:22, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't mind if he's included or not. So far "the gang" has only made one appearance, and he has also. I would wait until more exposure is had before splitting this hair. MetaStar 20:53, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I think regular greg should not be included for the reasons dotcom mentioned. - 21:26, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I removed Reg Greg from this page and all links to him here before seeing this thread. But now that i see it, i wholeheartedly agree. — Defender1031*Talk 18:31, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
I want to reiterate what I said above, namely that since regular Greg is a TGS character with the name Greg, it is appropriate to at least mention and link to him while making it clear that he's not one of the four Gregs. — It's dot com 04:36, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Regular Greg has *two* traits

Seems to me that he is a furry and a Math Geek. Sound fair? ;3 MetaStar 20:53, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

or that, um, he's a mascot, and happens to be taking one math class... - 20:56, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
If he was supposed to represent Furries or Math Geeks, they would have called him Furry Greg or Math Geek Greg. No, he's just Regular Greg.
But he fits it so well! Not only does he wear a mascot costume, but he's rejected by the other geeks and doesn't admit to being a furry! :p 17:15, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
But he's not a "furry". He's a mascot. He pulled his head off for crap's sake. And what the pfargtl is a "furry" anyway? And why is he even considered to plausibly maybe might could be should be being one? --Jellote 22:43, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Dodging the question, suffice to say that Regular Greg probably isn't one. If he is, we don't know about it. No, no, he's just dressed as a... Growlback, I guess... because he's the mascot. --Jay (Talk) 00:32, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I have even less of a vauge understanding of furries. And other words, I know have a more detailed idea on what they are. Now I'm sure he's not a furry. He isn't even dressed up as one. Furries are more like ferrets and he was more of a badger. His nose wasn't pointy and his head was fatter. Definitely not a furry. That being said, that is assuming he was

actually a badger, which he clearly wasn't (he's a mascot with a removable head. And I see no reason to call him a Math Greg, as he is in butt one flavour but one class. Neither way really "define" him as much as the other gregs do. In conclusion: he is not a Furry and we have no evidence he is a math geek. Until we receive confirmation he is either (heh, never) I say case closed. All parties are dismissed. Bring in the next case. --Jellote 01:04, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Open Source Greg - Motion To Add Criticism

It's ironic that he's Open Source Greg when we watch him in a flash. Flash is a non-free software, meaning GNU/Linux cannot readily have it pre-packaged for immediate use on its system (though the software can be readily available for download in some way, and not just through repos). He'd be using a GNU based Linux if he really was open-source. Exa: Ubuntu does NOT have Flash pre-installed, you have to download flashplugin-nonfree (Real Flash Plug in from Adobe) or the Gnash Flash Player. Gnash is quite different from the regular flash player: Gnash blocks all flash until you click on the flash object (much like NoScript at first.) But, in Gnash, you cannot turn off this blocking feature, and you are redirected to use the real Adobe plugin to not have flash blocked at all times. Since Open Source Greg seems lazy, I would venture to guess that he would use flashplugin-nonfree instead of having to click the flash object every time he wants to view a flash object. ColdReactive

First off, you seem to be confusing the agenda of the Free Software Foundation with Open Source, and they are not at all the same thing. More to the point, are you suggesting that because the Brother's Chaps medium of choice is Flash, they ought not portray a character who potentially may have an idealogical objection to Adobe's licensing strategy? I don't see the point. Would you criticize an artist who used oil paints to create a work of art that contained an image of a crayon? 19:18, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Of course they can portray such a person. I'm sorry I brought this up then. ColdReactive

[edit] Splitting into individual articles?

Though it may have made sense in this page's earliest revisions, before 4 Gregs, it seems odd now to have the four Gregs are cram-a-lammed into one article. They regularly appear in toons separately and have distinctive appearances and characterization. Much like the four Teen Girl Squad members (or the members of Limozeen), it makes more sense wiki-wise to split out them out into separate articles. Perhaps this page becomes like Bands from band names, a simple "seemain" directory for the four individual articles. -- Bleu Ninja 18:37, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, they're a lot more developed nowadays compared to how they were in their earliest appearances, especially the very first where Open Source Greg and Japanese Culture Greg didn't even have names. Given they have distinct personalities and multiple appearances, it makes sense for them to have their own pages. DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 21:51, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
