"krieg" is the German word for "War," and is often used in compound words, such as "Kriegsmarine" and "Blitzkrieg." So "Brainkrieg" would mean "Brain War," although that would really be "Gehirnkrieg." This may be a nod to Germany as an alternate source of death metal bands.

Actually Taranchula's music does fit comfortably into the realm of death metal. Death Metal's roots weren't all about being the fastest band on the planet. There was actually a lot of early Black Sabbath, Venom and Celtic Frost influences when reporters first started using the death metal term, (but they weren't the fastest or heaviest bands on the planet). However, Slayer does credit much of their heavier faster music to punk, so the connection is valid if misunderstood. And, remember this is parody... not mocking.

Did something change in MediaWiki recently that causes edit conflicts to occur when two people submit edits to COMPLETELY DIFFERENT sections of the page at the same time?  Twice now, I've had to resolve multiple edit conflicts while I'm editing, say, Easter Eggs, and another person edits Remarks. The phrase "death knell" hadn't occured to me while listening to it before reading this discussion. I listened to it again, carefully, just now - they were definitely pronouncing it "nay-ill" at least once of the two times they say the phrase. Since "knell" is pronounced "nell" (as in the name "Nellie"), I think that "nail" is more likely myself. I realize that the accent in the South is different than where I'm from (Pacific NW - we tend to have no accent here), but usually accents are much less pronounced in song, I've noticed.

The confusion is due to the fact that the words "blond" and "blonde" are derived from Old French. Thus, according to the rules of the language, "blond" was masculine and "blonde" was feminine. However, those distinctions have blurred in modern times, and the words may be used interchangeably for either gender now.

Larry Palaroncini's lyric "Driving ... with the t-top down?" makes no sense, as a T-top cannot be lowered, but rather opened by removing two panels from the top of the car.

...because it's not actually true.  While a t-top or targa top car does not have a mechanism to mechanically lower the top, the panels are normally taken down by hand and stored in the back of the car.  So it's not uncommon to hear it referred to as driving with the t-top or targa top down.  This would be in the same sense that you take a tent down, for instance.  It has been taken down and stowed.

First time ever posting to a wiki, so sorry if I muck this up, but this has been bugging me...

In the transcript, it says that Strong Bad is imitating drum sounds, but I had always been under the impression that it was guitar noises. This makes more sense with his later comment, as a quadruple bass pedal is something that exists in Guitars - though the explanations section says it does not exist for drums. It would also allude to the last time Strong Bad made instrument noises in sbemail 36, Guitar. If he plays guitar as he alledges in that email, then a quadruple bass pedal is something he could reasonably consider getting?
