Writing "baaj" doesn't clearly indicate /b&#593;&#658;/, any more clearly than /bæd&#658;/ or any of a number of other possible pronunciations. The only way to indicate the pronunciation clearly is by describing it: hence "to rhyme with ''garage''"; and underlining or italics can indicate stress on the last syllable. I see that fun fact as being needlessly pedantic. People interchange the terms garage sale and yard sale all the time. In fact, even the Wikipedia entry the fun fact links to lists yard sale as a synonym for garage sale. Can we get rid of it? Well, here's my opinions on yard sales and garage sales.
I think that garage sales is where you sell stuff such as tools, gardening items, and other things that's used for home and yards, while yard sales and tag sales is where people sell old items such as clothes that no longer fit, baby toys, and other things that you can live without with, but just nice to buy them.  I don't know why tag sales and yard sales have the same name.  It sounds a bit confusing.

The reason this was changed is probably because this would imply that he already said it, even though he wasn't making conversation with anyone. So to fix this plothole they made him say something that would imply he hadn't said it yet instead.

Strongbad calls cat "Catman", which is the name of a villain in the Green Arrow comic series. Since the Brothers Chaps are so familiar with Batman, I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think that they know Green Arrow, another DC hero
