[edit] Discussion

Two of these, "'stache" and "staysh", are truncations heard in common parlance. I don't think they apply to the scope of the page. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 04:20, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Truncations of common parlance is what this article here is about. MHarrington 04:36, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
But when the truncatons in question are common parlance, it's not notable. It's when the abbreviations are unique that we note them. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 04:39, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
If these are the only examples, this phenomenon is not notable, in my opinion. Reasons are along the lines of Qermaqs. -DAGRON 20:18, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Are words that eliminate the G from the suffix -ing (E.G. Friggin') also count? Does some other slang terms count? The scope of this article is way too broad and non-specific. It's just not unique enough for Homestar Runner. Delete. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:52, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
This topic is too broad, in my opinion. If we were to actually list all of the abbreviated words, it would be an unbearably long article. Also, I think the title of the article is a bit misleading: when I navigated to this page, I thought it would be a list of abbreviations (SBASAF, etc.). At any rate, even if the name is changed, the topic is too broad: delete. Trey56 23:01, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
I've never heard "staysh" at all, and 'stache is just a silly abbreviation of mustache. Awexome 03:38, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I say DELETED!!! — 69.124.125.246 (Talk | contribs) 23:04, 27 March 2008 (UTC) (left unsigned)

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with the non-notability of this topic. Put my vote firmly in Delete Flashfight03:49, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rename

Rename to "Stache and similar words" or something like that. Awexome 00:01, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Why not "Staysh and similar words"? What are similar words? Those that begin with S? Those that have six letters? This is a most ambiguous name. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:06, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
I think the creator was intending to list many other "abbreviated words" (not just ones that are similar to 'stache) but just put these ones on to get the article started. Trey56 23:03, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Unless better examples are supplied, I maintain delete as noted earlier. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:08, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Revival/Change of scope

Please see [[[1]]] this revision. I'm proposing a documentation of an entirely different phenomenon than that of the original attempt at this page, though I placed it at this name to preserve previous discussion. (Apparently that was a bad idea because if I'd created a new page I would've had the liberty of a TBD)

Anyway, my case: While the original page apparently was intended to document all abbreviated words, the proposed revision/rename would list only those of the form "-tion" which are sufficiently specific to H*R. Note that there are both 3 appearances and 3 different uses of the abbreviation, though there is not a distict usage in each appearance. -128.103.10.17 15:28, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
