[edit] Suggested lines

A few lines for the walkthrough hit me, but I'm not ready to write the walkthrough myself right now (perhaps later).

  • Time to go to Marzipan's house to talk to the hottest blonde in the area. {break} Oh, wait, you thought I meant Marzipan? Sorry, Strong Bad is physically incapable of speaking to her without insulting her.
  • You'll want that billy club leaning next to the stage. Strong Sad doesn't mind if you take it. He does, however, mind the years of abuse he's suffered at your hands, and now that he has the power, he'll make sure to remind you. But, hey, at least you got the club, right?
  • (regarding Pom Pom) And you thought you were the only cheater in this competition! I'd say two would play at that game, but you were already planning that anyway.

[edit] Have I hit a bug or something?

At the moment I'm completely, 100% stuck. It's plainly apparent to me from the Two-O-Duo CD that I'm supposed to make it look as though Coach Z has attempted to steal from Bubs' store, having already gotten him to smash Marzipan's window and toilet paper The Stick.

However, the only hint Strong Bad gives me is something about Bubs pining about the stuff he and Coach Z used to get up to, and how there's gotta be a list somewhere.

I HAVE that list. I've had it for ages. Am I doing something wrong, or missing something here?

And if I'm supposed to find and speak to Coach Z, he's nowhere to be found...

I'm stuck here, too.... Payphone Ed 11:48, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Maybe it's one of those major glitches that will require a hard reset. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 12:21, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
This is one of the least obvious puzzle solutions in the game, probably the least between all three episodes so far. Steal the alarm from Bubs' Concession Stand (even later, it will be wholly impossible to steal the record) and put it in Coach Z's office. --Jay (Talk) 17:20, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, and the clickable area is pretty small for what you have to click on; additionally, calling it the alarm is also misleading, since it's just the swirling red light, but yes, this was incredibly confusing. Payphone Ed 12:20, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Not enough walktrough.

There's not enough walkthrough here. Someone should fix that. RocketMasterZ 20:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Are you volunteering to be "someone"? You don't need to clear it by us to do that. We recognize that it's incomplete, hence the "Stub" tag on the page. --Jay (Talk) 20:05, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm not smart enough to sabotage Cool Tapes. I showed Marzipan the TGS coloring book while she was watching PomStar ... but what else do I need to do??? I think I'm missing something. OptimisticFool 06:24, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
I'll be getting to that shortly, but try framing Limozeen for doing the other things that annoy Marzipan. And get photographic evidence! --Jay (Talk) 06:28, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Heh, this part was pretty annoying, too; I had completely forgotten about the camera thinking it had served its purpose and was just taking up space in my inventory for no reason.... Figuring out how to sabotage Two-o-Duo was pretty aggravating as well.... Payphone Ed 12:22, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Band name, band name, band name...

Should we put all the band names in the middle of the walkthrough? I was against this as it doesn't add much to the main walkthrough, and I bumped the potential band names down to the bottom, but an anonny just put them back. --Jay (Talk) 19:20, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

I cleaned it up a bit, but I certainly can see the rationale of putting it on a responses page instead. --DorianGray 19:24, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
I presume someone's checked all 125 possible band names, and ensured they have the same effect, and there's not some secret hidden easter egg or something if you choose a specific name? =) --Belthazar 04:31, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, I just took a little break and listened to all 2074 speech files for BotB (just for general curiosity's sake, not for this particular issue) and there wasn't anything there that suggested a special response to a particular combination of names. -ReverendTed 07:17, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

How about creating a redirect for each potential band name? With and without the umlauts! That's a great idea! =] Rock on Demonic Öatmeal Insurance! Yay! (And I'm just kidding, by the way! Yay!) OptimisticFool 10:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Secrets

Hey, has anyone made a list of the awesomeness chart items locations yet?

There doesn't seem to be anything about the musical moments on the net yet... 70.181.24.188 21:56, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

I've found five of the seven musical moments:
  1. Play Pom-Pom's record for Homestar at the Club
  2. Play one of the two records you wind up with at the Club in Extended Play
  3. Play the other one
  4. Talk to Strong Sad in Strong Badia in Extended Play
  5. Talk to Coach Z at the Track in Extended Play... I think. Might have to re-check this one
--Belthazar 23:31, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Nope, I talked to Coach Z after and still have 4, that's not one of them.
There's a serious lack of secret locations info on the web... 70.181.24.188 18:47, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Okies, I just found another three musical moments... which is odd, because I'm sure I managed five without doing any of these. Maybe one of them replaces playing Doin' the Wiggle at the Club. As for the Coach Z one, I'm gonna have to do it over and see what it actually was. In any case, the three I just found are to give the contest entry forms to The Cheat twice and Strong Mad once, at Marzipan's place. --Belthazar 07:03, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
There are a few threads on the Telltale Games forums about the various collectibles and other stuff. So far, everything's been listed except one of the "Expressions of Affection". The musical moments are:
  1. Give Strong Mad an Entry Form
  2. Give The Cheat an Entry Form
  3. Give The Cheat an Entry Form again
  4. Use the Boom Box option on Coach Z outside Marzipan's
  5. Use the Slide to the Right record on the Technochocolate turntable
  6. Use the Wiggle record on the turntable twice
  7. Talk to Strong Sad in Extended Play
The Expressions of Affection (which are certain, but not all, mentions of the word "Love") are
  1. Talk to Strong Sad about the bats twice
  2. Talk to Bubs about the Funmachine
  3. Talk to Coach Z about Marzipan twice
  4. Have Marzipan make out a glossy to Strong Bad
  5. Have Marzipan make out a glossy to Coach Z
  6. Have Coach Z recite poetry for Marzipan
  7. Talk to Limozeen about Two-O-Duo
  8. Talk to the Whale at the PomStar concert twice
  9. Talk to Coach Z after Two-O-Duo breaks up
  10. One that I haven't found, though there are several mentions of "love" that don't make the cut.

[edit] Adding Expressions of Affection and Such

I'm Being Bold and adding in the Expressions of Affection and Musical Moments. I hope I'm doing it right! Now that the walkthrough contains all of the information necessary to obtain the highest rank, is it still a "Stub" or "Almost Complete"? -ReverendTed 21:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Maybe a summary of the information down the bottom of the page, like the walkthroughs from the previous two episodes? --Belthazar 22:18, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Ah, yes. I guess I could have checked to see how the previous walkthroughs were styled. I'm on it! -ReverendTed 22:31, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Order

Strong Mad doesn't leave the Strong House until you see him at Marzipan's. Currently, the walkthrough doesn't instruct the reader to go to Marzipan's before getting Poodonkis. I don't know what this might change with the walkthrough... it would seem pretty silly to have the walkthrough say "Go to Marzipan's but immediately leave and go to the Strong House." Some of the content may need to be shifted. And, um... I don't feel like doing it. =] OptimisticFool 18:38, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

I was unfortunately afraid of that after it hit me after writing. Gr, silly arbitrary triggers... --Jay (Talk) 18:46, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
You might be able to justify the trip by picking up the Zen Rock and optionally obtaining the mini glass. -ReverendTed 21:12, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Glitch?

In the Babelian Odessy minigame, I didn't get a score of 50000+ but I managed to get over 48000 points with everything else at 100% and it still awarded me the final rank and Limozeen Shirt. Does this mean anything? EHeroFlareNeos 22:12, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, at one point I had everything else and scored a little over 48k and nothing happened. -ReverendTed 02:07, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
I was almost at 49000, but slightly over 48800. So I guess it's a glitch? EHeroFlareNeos 03:58, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Not a glitch. Apparently when I was playing, I had assumed you needed 50k, and just started a new game when I got 48k without looking to see if it had been upgraded to green on the list. An oversight on my part. -ReverendTed 03:10, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Awesomeness Guide Out

Here she is. Let's see if we got it all right and if there's any changes to be made. SuperfieldCreditUnion

I think aside from the Limozeen: HBO score (which has already been corrected), we had it right. -ReverendTed 03:09, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Strategies for L:HBO?

I have been having a dickens playing this game. For a couple of reasons, it seems:

1. collision detection is extremely frustrating. It seems I only have to be close to something, and it counts as being hit. Even when I kill something before touching it, it still kills me.

2. control layout is atrocious. Arrow keys for fire and bomb? Who came up with that brilliant idea? I ended up setting up my game controller to allow me to play without the keys, but it's still a pain.

Anyway, I've gotten as high as 39,000, but usually, but the time I get over 30,000, I get so frustrated I can't play it anymore.

Heck, I even tried the Snake Boxer Code to see if it would give me unlimited lives or something.

Help?

[edit] Coloring book

I can't find the coloring book. Can anybody help? 74.79.51.99 01:08, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Like, it's not next to the cutout? You may have a bug in your game if it's not there. StrongAwesome 01:59, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Which can be possible even on the disk you bought from Best Buy. ColdReactive 02:25, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I missed that step. Thanks! 74.79.51.99 14:35, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Having Trouble with getting homestar to pass audition

I'm either too slow, or I get too close to homestar (both cause homestar to complain that strong bad doesn't rhyme), I can't complete this part, and therefore am stuck. So I guess I'll have to wait in order for someone to help again. ColdReactive 19:24, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

... I'm stumped as to exactly what your problem would be, given you should have plenty of time. You are double-clicking to run, right? --Jay (Talk) 22:58, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
I already tried doing that, but I have an image here explaining what's going on. ColdReactive 23:56, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Um... I just pulled up my file, and Homestar does not auto-fail you for walking too close to him. In fact, you don't need to be anywhere near the buffalo wings for it to count - you just have to click on them so Strong Bad is walking in their general direction. So long as you are, he'll jump into place just in time for Homestar to finish the line. Have you tried just clicking on the wings directly? --Jay (Talk) 00:22, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
yeah, see, this is EXACTLY why people like YOU need to be writing these walkthroughs. Your pal, Stro, Bro. Thanks again! (Yes, this means clicking the items works, NOT walking to them) ColdReactive 00:27, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
I did write most of them, but I wrote them some time after walking away from them, so a few details here and there may have been a little fuzzy. I suppose I can make it a little more specific. --Jay (Talk) 00:31, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
I did that for you already, check history/recent changes. ColdReactive 00:32, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
