I seem to recall a discussion from this forum where people were guessing which sounds were showing up on this main page. i guess i'm dating myself a bit here, but as someone who spent the majority of his life from ages 6-11 in front of an atari 2600, i believe i can venture an educated guess as to what most of them are =). Somebody jump in and correct me if you spot mistakes, or remember ones that I don't!

Toons - two-part noise, i think the first part is the shooting sound from ASTEROIDS. The sky changes to a different part of the day with each mouseover, looking much like Enduro.

Games - beap is from Seaquest, when you pick up a diver. Dunno the explosion sound, could be from Combat, when you hit or get hit by your opponent. The plane may be a reference to River Raid?

Characters - Strongbad mimics the bat from Adventure as he celebrates to the sound from Pitfall when you pick up a prize. He then disappears to the sound of Pac-Man eating a ghost!

Downloads - first part is Pac-Man eating a wafer. second is the car sound from Enduro. (no streetlamps in the game though =))

Store - no idea on the noise. Marzipan however is swinging that butterfly net very similar to how Mario swings the hammer in Donkey Kong.

Email - the sound is the dragon in Adventure biting you, or in this case Strongbad, as he attempts to bring the Enchanted Chalice to the Yellow Castle of Strongbadia! =D

If you do the click-drag trick on Characters, then mouse over Games, the airplane's wing is in front of Strong Bad's head. I have a picture of it.--Jnelson09 18:47, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

The wiki article tells us that StrongBad says "Somebody get this freakin' duck away from me!" when you go over the email button but it sounds more like "I gotta get this freakin' duck away from me!" I could be wrong. tell me what you think

It sounds to me like the S is dropped. ("'omebody get this freakin' duck away from me!") But we put it as "somebody", coz it's related to Homestar's quote in In Search of the Yello Dello Deleted Scenes. --DorianGray

The plane looks very similar to the Tupolev Tu-95 Bear.

No, it doesn't. The plane is 10 pixels wide and 7 pixels high. It could be any kind of plane, but mostly it looks like a generic sprite representing the concept of "plane." Wear a Bikini 12:50, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
