Talk:Marshie's Mother
From Homestar Runner Wiki
[edit] Worth her own page?
Marshie's mother is a really, really minor character, not even appearing except as a portrait, and therefore we have a really small article. Although it's marked as a stub, I don't think we'll be able to get much more info on this article. Is it possible we should merge this with Marshie? Heimstern Läufer 20:18, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea. Loafing 20:22, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah. Also, wherever this information ends up, I'm assuming we're cool with the fact that technically it's just speculation that happens to be likely. — It's dot com 20:58, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Merge - while noting that we don't know for sure that this is Marshie's mother after all. Marshie tends to say things that almost make sense - it's also likely he was simply saying something creepy in front of a portrait. (Actually, that's all we know for sure, isn't it?) - Qermaq - (T/C) 21:22, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Merge, for the reasons listed above. Trey56 21:30, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- How is this character any less minor than Mrs. Bennedetto, The Denzel, Cinder Block, The Teach, and Doreauxgard...who all have their own page? I R F 23:06, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe it's splitting hairs, but all of those characters have actually appeared, whereas only a portrait of Marshie's Mother has appeared (and it's speculation that that's who the picture is of). Trey56 23:13, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Merge it. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 01:56, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Definitley Merge 'em! Why not? Steve Talk Contributions 22:36, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- Leave separate. For the reason listed above by Invisible Robot Fish. — It's dot com 23:18, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I still think merging would be a good idea. Merging the Sportsinterviewses was quite a good idea. And those folks were even mentioned more than once each. I could also see us merging the Bennedettos. You know, for simplicity. So readers don't have to hunt all over the site, looking for lots of little articles. Loafing 23:41, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Here's another difference between Marshie's mom and The Denzel, The Teach etc.: There's no other article with which these could resonably be merged. I think the merger this page into Marshie is reasonable, and since Marshie's mom only appears in portrait form, better reflects her significance. Heimstern Läufer 23:44, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- Articles like this appear all the time and are usually taken care of pretty fast. This one should be merged with Marshie or deleted because of all the points above, notably Loafing's and Heim-person's. -Brightstar 00:37, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, this page isn't exactly like most pages we consider, in that it certainly has useful content. It's just a question of where that content should go. Oh, and I'd really prefer not to be called Heim-person in the future, if you don't mind. :-) Heimstern Läufer 00:45, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry. If I were trying to pronounce your name out loud, I couldn't for the life of me, but I guess writing it isn't such a problem. My opinion still stands as Merge, Heimstern Laufer (with an umlaut). -Brightstar 02:07, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Since there have been a concensus to merge, I went away and did it while leaving this page as a redirect. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:57, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Are you my mother?
It is speculation as to whether the woman pictured is indeed Marshie's mother, and it should be noted as such on the page, but I don't think we should shy away from calling her his mother. It is an extremely reasonable conclusion given the fact that her image was on screen as Marshie said the comments that were directed at his mother, and there is no other data that would contradict such a conclusion. — It's dot com 23:58, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. Also, did you know that you could have simply added that to the article? Be bold! ;-) Loafing 00:39, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Huh? I actually don't care whether it's noted as speculation and didn't even look at the article before I posted here. My point is that several people have made various comments in the thread above and on the toon talk page and have made various edits to the transcript indicating that we're not absolutely certain the pictured woman is his mother. Well, all right, I have to admit there's room for doubt—but not much. A picture of a woman who looks like Marshie appears as he says the word "mother". Seems pretty convincing to me. Thus, unless we're presented with evidence to the contrary, we can probably safely proceed with the assumption that she is indeed his mother. — It's dot com 01:43, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, now I see. Sorry for confused comment, then. I thought your point was that it's speculation. Now it all makes sense to me, and I still agree with what you've said :-) Loafing 01:51, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Actually I didn't think it was his mother. Since Marshie was parodying horror films, I thought he was in some kind of old marshmellow mansion and there's and old marshmellow lady in there. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 01:56, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Swear
I thought Marshie saying "Just walk away, mother...." and then it saying "....Fluffy Fuff marshmallows" was supposed to be a joke, like Marshie was about to say "mother f*****" and it cut to "fluffy", and the portrait was just for emphasis on the word. SaltyTalk! 01:22, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think that's part of the joke. We thought they were going one way and then bam! they went another. Pure genius. — It's dot com 01:45, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
