[edit] Hold on!

I love 80's music and Phil Collins songs and I always thought that the lyrics to "In the Air Tonight" were "I can feel it coming in the air tonight, hold on." Then tomstiff posted the link to the lyrics, and it turns out the lyrics are actually "I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord." But the description of the Bendini Sisters says "hold on" so.... did the Bros. Chaps make the same mistake I did? Aurora the Homestar Coder 20:58, 19 May 2005 (UTC)

"Another green salad, another iced tea" is a lyric from "Tunic (Song For Karen)" by Sonic Youth (from their 1990 album Goo)

Anyone notice that the first page of the level 6 enemies section of the stinko man manual says "Is it getting warmer in hear?" which is the the wrong spelling of the word HERE. TBC are so good with grammar its amazing they screwed up like that.

The Stinkoman game is littered with errors. It's intentional, to mock poorly-translated video games. Aurora the Homestar Coder 01:46, 29 May 2005 (UTC)
Well actually their are two versions where one says "oh lord" and the other says "hold on" — 24.183.47.74 (Talk | contribs) 19:42, 22 December 2006 (UTC) (left unsigned)

[edit] Did you get this one?

It turns out that a less visible error in the game is that level 4 isn't "Fistcuff," but "fistIcuff." for real.

[edit] Ice to not have to STUFF this

I won't be posting the following in the Fun Facts section, since even I would vote to decline it as a possible coincidence, but the title of level 7, "Ice 2 Meet U," completely reminds me of the Simpsons episode "Last Exit to Springfield," where McBain deadpans "Ice to see you" as he bursts out of a much-too-small Venus de Milo ice sculpture. — It's dot com 21:11, 13 Jul 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Closed STUFF

[edit] Saargtsson Ltd. (Accepted as rewritten)

The quote for Saargtsson ("Saargtsson is an equal opportunity employer.") is attributed to Saargtsson-Bosch GmbH. Bosch is an actual German company specializing in automotive, industrial and building technology, as well as consumer goods such as power tools. Gmbh is the acronym for "Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung", literally translating into "Company with limited liability".

Rewrite: The quote on Saargtsson's page is attributed to Saargtson-Bosch GmbH. Robert Bosch GmbH is an actual German company.

  • ALMOST Accept Edited to a full accept. Yay! Donny vs Universe
    • It's right on Saargtsson's page in the instruction manual. If you wish to consult it yourself, place your cursor below CONTROLS on the game menu, click, and go through the manual until you hit the page on Saargtsson.
      • I think he means where on Saargtsson-Bosch they use that phrase. In which case it's on pages such as [1] (found by Google, in small text on the right)
Rewrite to be more consise, maybe:
The quote for Saargtsson ("Saargtsson is an equal opportunity employer.") is from the company Saargtsson-Bosch GmbH which claims the same thing.
--phlip 02:29, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline. Bosch isn't called Saargtsson-Bosch. It's called Bosch. The word "Saargtsson" isn't found anywhere on Bosch's website, or anywhere else for that matter except for here and H*R. "<company> is an equal opportunity employer" is a very common phrase that can't be linked to any particular company without more evidence. --phlip 02:32, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline phlip is right. Google it. --Jay (Talk) 02:42, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Sorry. Misread stuff. I forgot it actually said "Bosch" in the manual - I thought the link between H*R and Bosch was that the company's actual name was Saargtsson-Bosch, which it isn't.
Rewrite It still needs to be more concise:
The quote for Saargtsson ("Saargtsson is an equal opportunity employer.") is attributed to "Saargtsson-Bosch GmbH". Robert Bosch GmbH is a German automotive company which does claim this.
--phlip 03:14, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Slightly embarrassed second Aaaand I saw what he said and assumed the same thing. Lesson of the day: quotation marks are your friends. --Jay (Talk) 03:17, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Also second that sounds better -- Nighthawk
  • Second Shorter = better -- Ju Ju Master
  • Decline. The "equal opportunity employer" thing is pretty standard stuff. -- tomstiff 13:58, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
    • True... but that's not what this fact is about. --Jay (Talk) 02:36, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Comment. I took the liberty of adding the "Gmbh" stuff to the main article. That's not in dispute here. -- tomstiff 13:58, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
  • WHOA! I had to rub my eyes while reading this. I'm sorry, I thought I was on HRWiki, not GERMANWIki. I mean, what are you saying, you lazy crap for crap! Massive REWRITE Above All Other Things Rewritable! Cheatachu72
  • NOTE TO ALL VOTERS!!! I think most of the "decline" votes on this are musunderstanding the fact in question. Which I myself am guilty of. The "equal opportunity employer" is not part of the fact. The fact is that "Bosch GmbH" is part of Saarg's name, and that "Robert Bosch GmbH" is a real company. There is nothing about that non-fact-worthy that I can see. The "equal opportunity employer", and phlip and my confusion earlier, only work to obfuscate the real meaning, so it SHOULD get a rewrite, but not a decline... --Jay (Talk) 18:01, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Accepts the rewritten version. -- SBEmail22
  • Senator, I SECOND that I as well accept the rewritten version. --SaikoRoxi

[edit] Hammin' it up

Ekersby has a ham for a heart, just as it is shown that The King of Town does (in Halloween Fairstival).

VERDICT: This item was accepted as revised, 7–3. The votes and arguments have been moved to HRWiki:STUFF/Archive/Stinkomanual.

[edit] a reference?

I think the comments in the stinkomanual might be a reference to how some game manuals have rude things like "QUIT READING AND PLAY THE GAME!!!" -Kinsey

It's a reference to all game manuals of the 80s and 90s. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Hold B?

Is this a cheat code? I don't know if it is a cheat code or not. --Sweetandy

It isn't. --phlip TC 09:24, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ekersby of Town

  • Ekersby is referred to as having a quality called 'ham-heartedness'. In Halloween Fairstival, the King of Town shows an x-ray of his heart, which appears to be a ham. Inside reference, or just something randomly similar? --Annonymous User Number 69.139.163.12
    • Also, check out this link at Ikea. I guess if you're trying to come up with a video game character's name, Ikea's exotic names for furniture are a good place to start. Also, "Ekersby" means "spoke" in Swedish. Trey56

[edit] Not working

Is the Stinkomanual only displaying the first five levels for anyone else? It's been doing that to me all day... --Jay (Talk) 19:54, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Yup. Make changes accordingly. —BazookaJoe 20:09, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Try saving the file to your PC, or clearing your cache (sp?). I've got all 9 levels there, so it might just be a problem localised to a few computers. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 21:18, 5 September 2005 (BST)
Clearing the cache doesn't do it (and why would it? Last time I saw the Stinkomanual before today, it went up to level -0.) Nor does saving it to my computer. --Jay (Talk) 21:21, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
No clue then (although I argubly didn't have one in the first place). Stinkoman updates always seem to cause problems on some computers, but usually it's my PC that has the problem. The manual has been updated, as this picture shows. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 22:40, 5 September 2005 (BST)
Just as an update, cache cleared or not, it's still only going up to level 5 for me. --Jay (Talk) 21:22, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
It's only showing up to level five for me, to!! Earlier today it was fine at level 9!! - [[User:C.Olimar788|C.Olimar788]
Goes up to 9 for me. — It's dot com 01:38, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Ah! Wierded out! Level 5 tops here too. smileyface.PNG11945 (Talk/Ctrbs) 00:46, 17 Sep 2005 (UTC)
The font changed for me. I'm starting to get a feeling a new level will come up tommorow. It also only went up to Nebulon's page.--~~Ampi~~meowarchives 03:58, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
Now it's back to normal for me.--~~Ampi~~meowarchives 16:07, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Too big, clanky, too big!

The current animated image for the Stinkomanual is 890 KB when sized down, and about 1.6 MB at full size. It's also quite possible that MediaWiki is spinning a lot of CPU cycles to resize that image. I appreciate the effort, but I think we need to put it back to the much smaller image that was there before. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:14, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

On top of that, reproducing the book in its entirety carries the same copyright concerns as over on Talk:More Fan Costumes. — It's dot com 20:23, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
BTW, It's dot com, you need to re-delete that image. I accidently added {{delete}} to it after you deleted it. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 20:26, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Big stretch

Quote:

'In the Level 9 intro cutscene, Stinkoman whistles for his ship to bypass traversing through the "evil jungle". The whistling noise may be a reference to the Warp Whistle item from Super Mario Bros. 3. The use of this whistle allowed the player to warp to a "higher" world without progressing through all of the levels required to reach it.'

Whaaaaa? Or maybe it's just a reference to how a whistle is used to summon stuff in movies and games, I.E. whistling to call a dog or whatnot. Has this been put to a vote?--TobyTheRobot 03:12, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

I have to say I agree with Toby on this one. For one, Stinkoman didn't bypass the jungle at all - otherwise, there would be no Level 9, or at least it wouldn't have had to do with going through a jungle. This sounds like just a plain bad fact to me. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 03:21, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
I also agree. I think it's more like just calling your dog with a whistle. I think the joke, if anything, is that things are so futuristic that now you can call a space ship instead of some washed up old The Cheat... er, dog. At least, that's kind of the gimmick, if not exactly a reference or joke per se. Oh, and no offense to dog lovers. I didn't mean it personally. Heimstern Läufer 03:26, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Stinkomanual v3

For some reason, my manual only goes up to Level 5. Can someone help me? 67.163.163.108 12:04, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Also mine. LePorello / T / C 15:20, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
OK, that IP is mine. LePorello / T / C 04:12, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Ditto here. :( Beatfox 05:11, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Didn't know where to say this, but that IP isn't mine anymore. LePorello / T / C 10:27, 14 April 2006 (UTC) And I think it works now; I'll check.
It works for me (LeP's new IP)! 71.234.106.240 10:28, 14 April 2006 (UTC) Ooh, it rhymed!
Just to say that that is my IP. It does work. LePorello / T / C 10:29, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Arrested Development reference?

The description of Semulade has the quote "Head down, power through!", which may or may not be a reference to an episode of Arrested Development where Michael says it loads. I'm not sure, though... --Tom93 14:03, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

The episode you refer to is Staff Infection, which aired on March 14th, 2004. Level 9 was added on September 5, 2005, so it's chronologically possible. Also, the Season One DVD was available on October 19, 2004, so that would also work if they didn't catch it live. -- Tom 14:30, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] larry boy

any one else think the part "taking matters into his own torso" could be a refrense to larry boy and the fib from outer space when alfred says "the fate of bumbly burg lies in your uhhh... plungers!"

No. It's a joke about 1-Up's lack of visible arms. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 22:20, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stinkomanual "update"?

The old...
...and the new?

Looking at the Stinkomanual currently on the site, and comparing it to Image:Stinkomanual-full.png and the saved version on my hard drive, it appears to have been updated in an odd way: the font used for "STINKOMAN 20X6", "INSTRUCTION STINKOMANUAL" and the page titles has been changed, and all levels after Level 5 appear to have gone missing. I've tried two different internet browsers (Firefox 2.0.0.1 and the Internet Channel on the Wii), same result. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 14:36, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

o_o This usually happens when the game gets updated... *waits for people to jump to conclusions* But, yeah. Is like that for me too. --DorianGray
