Hey, you've read America? That's awesome!

Of course, America is exactly like The Daily Show, only in mock text book form. I've also read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (along with its sequels) and I love them dearly. Haven't seen the movie though, I'm afraid it won't live up to my expectations. I do love how the description of The Guide's inner workings is ridiculously similar to how the Wiki works. The movie isn't as good as the book, but it's not exactly bad either. It's a lot different, too. I guess that on a scale of 1-10 I'd give it about a 6.

While we're bringing up signature standards, I just thought I'd point out that not only is there a horizontal limit, but a vertical limit of one line for sigs. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 21:02, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Totally understandable. Having thought that through, it now makes little sense to me. Similar to emails with multiple fwds and re:s in the title, why bother with all that extra crap? That's why we have user profiles, I guess.

I'm answering the question you posted on the talk page for the the STUFF item from rock opera (we tend not to actually use talk pages that correspond to STUFF pages). So, anyway, read It's dot com's essay on this page (you'll have to scroll down quite a while to get there; it's the one that starts with "You guys are making this too complicated.") Yeah, I know. Really freakin' long discussion. :-) But anyway, the first few sentences tell you the basic rules for when we tend to close STUFF items. In this case, I would guess that the item will close very soon, since it looks like it will be accepted by more than a five to one ratio. (Of course, that could change.) Except in rare cases, I try to keep everything open at least a day. I actually wanted this one to stay open a little longer so that it could get more support. In other words, 15–0 (or even 15–2) is more impressive than 9–0, and no one would have any room to question it later. But, yeah, soon. — It's dot com 00:21, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

I gave an ID to an empty span (like this: <span id="DC"></span>) so that I could locate the section using the # symbol. "DC" just stands for "Dot com", or perhaps "Dot com's eloquent and witty comments". — It's dot com 00:22, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Just a heads up, that today we implemented our new signature standards. Below is your current signature, with the blue box being the maximum length allowed. As you can see, it's quite a bit past the maximum. If you could find a way to pear it down a bit, such as with <small> or <sub> tags, or different wording or images, I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to fit it inside the box.
