One of the things that we're preparing to roll out along with the next upgrade is a new way the system treats links. Once we implement it, when a link is entered on a page that points to a page in the main, project, user, or help namespace, the system will first try to match it exactly as it's written. If the page does not exist, the system will automatically try to create a hidden piped link to a capitalized/lowercase or plural form (except it will not attempt to match plural forms for the user namespace). Similarly, if the system cannot find a page based on a URL, it will try to automatically create a redirect. (Without going into unnecessary detail here, suffice it to say that it will be easy to actually create the page being redirected from if necessary.) What this means is that it will no longer be necessary to create a piped link from goat to Goats, for example, and it will not be necessary to have a corresponding redirect page. Pages where the capitalized and lowercase forms mean different things, like Homsar and homsar, will be unaffected.

The redirects in this list will become obsolete once the change is made and will be able to be deleted.

[edit] Redirects to leave as they are

The following redirects could point to a capitalized/lowercase or plural form, but rightly point somewhere else. They will not be deleted.

[edit] Redirects that have been changed

The following redirects have been changed to point to a more logical place. They will be deleted with the rest of the obsolete redirects.

[edit] Redirects for discussion

The following needed to be discussed as to whether we want to leave them as they are or change them to point to their capitalized/lowercase or plural forms (in which case they will be deleted once they are obsolete).

[edit] Bee

Redirects to The Fat Bee. We also have an article on Bees.

I think that this redirect should be changed to point to the plural form and deleted once the new features are in place. We should also consider putting a prominent disambiguation notice at the top of the Bees page. — It's dot com 03:00, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree — it's easy to find The Fat Bee once you're on the Bees page anyway. By the way, I just added a disambiguation notice to the top of the latter page. Trey56 03:02, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dullard

Redirects to Dullard (comic). We also have the email dullard.

[edit] Man

Redirects to "Man" pronounced as "m'n", with a disambiguation at the top that points to Mans.

I think we would be far more likely to talk about (and therefore need a link to) a singular "man" in terms of the video game terms. This one should be changed. — It's dot com 03:26, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
That sounds reasonable. Trey56 03:27, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] fanstuff

Redirects to Weekly Fanstuff. We also have the disambiguation page Fanstuff.

I think that this redirect should be changed to point to the capitalized form and deleted once the new features are in place. — It's dot com 18:15, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree. That makes more sense to me (even if Weekly Fanstuff had a filename or something). --DorianGray 18:17, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
The weekly fanstuff is at fanstuff.swf, but there is nothing at fanstuff.html. — It's dot com 19:13, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
When I made the filename redirects, I made them for the SWF files too, as well as the HTML files... however, yes, I think this one should point to Fanstuff. The GM script won't link here... I only made the redirect for convenience, and it'd be just as convenient pointing to Fanstuff. --phlip TC 02:31, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I've moved this one into the "changed" group. — It's dot com 02:47, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
