[edit] "About me page"

This is about comments or suggestions on the "about me" page. Talk to me about it here, thanks. Sbemail(Talk,Contribs.) 03:09, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] is it "ya", or "it"??

I have a question...in the "montage" email, when homestar says(some of this may be incorrect, but I'm only talking about one word) A wagon fulla pamcakes?? In the champeenship?? I'd like to see ??? try!! What should go in the place of the "???", "it", or "ya"?? I have listened to this email over and over, and he says "it" every time!! Some other people seem to think he says "ya". Anyways, send me what you think he says, I just want to see what other people think. Sbemail 06:46, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Hey, Sbemail, I can see how you could hear it as "it," but I'm pretty sure it's really "ya." It really doesn't make a lot of sense for him to say "it" when he's talking to the wagon; in the case, "ya" does make sense. Heimstern Läufer 07:11, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
Aaaaah!!! Here we go again with the "ya"!!! This is very weird...I have seen this one a lot of times!! Even on my friends computer....Every time, he says "it", anyways, thanks for your answer. Sbemail 07:14, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
I hear "it" myself. TotalSpaceshipGirl3
Finally!!! Someone who agrees with me...thanks for your answer. Sbemail 19:50, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
There's no question it's "ya". It was a Quote of the Week. By the way, you really shouldn't start a discussion in three places. The article talk page is the best place. Also, by that reasoning, you shouldn't ask people to reply on your talk page. Thanks. — It's dot com 22:13, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
Sorry about the question in 3 places thing...that was my fault! Anyways, I stand corrected that he says "ya"...even though i still think it sounds like "it", but i won't argue about it anymore. Bye. Sbemail 22:16, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Pictures!!

Ok, I have one more question(the montage one is still in need of more answers though!!)

I know like, everyone knows this one, but as u can read in the "about me" thing, I am not an old user!!

Anyways, on to the question: How do you put images on?? Like, homestar pictues, or scenes from a toon.

I would appreciate anyone's contribution to this question!!(because the about me thing look very dull!!)

-Sbemail 08:09, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Have a look at Help:Contents - it should answer most of your questions. --phlip TC 08:17, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiwhats?

In answer to your question of what to call people-who-use-the-wiki: I usually use "members" and "users" interchangeably. But as long as people know what you're talking about, you can be creative; I've heard them referred to as "wikizens," "wikiphiles," wikiites," and so on. (Maybe the folks over at Wikipedia could be Wikipedestrians... Wikipediatricians?... I think I'll stop there.) —AbdiViklas 22:22, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Ok, I guess I'll change everything to members, without the quotes. Thanks for your response. -Sbemail 22:25, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
Personally, I like "Wikipeople" ;) Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 22:31, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Internal links

I don't want to be overbearing with the tips, but for any link to something in the wiki, you can get rid of the little arrow-box beside it (like this; it could be this instead). The difference is the first time I put [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Main_Page this], as I would have to for any non-wiki (or non-wikipedia) link; the second time I used two brackets and just the name of the page: [[Main Page|this]]. Note the | as a divider instead of a space, too. —AbdiViklas 00:16, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

No no, its ok, I am new here, and really appreciate your tips, thanks for them. Sbemail 00:28, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Oops! That last tweak tweaked it a little bit too far: I'm not sure whether you meant to, but you created a whole new page titled Go away. I put a "delete" tag on it; you could copy its code onto your userpage, perhaps. (I'm guessing you wanted "Go away" in your userpage to link to it? You could do that, maybe, by putting it in User talk:Sbemail (aka this page right here), heading it with == Go Away == or something like that, and then making the link point to: [[User talk:Sbemail#Go Away]]</nowiki. The # aims a link at a subsection within a page. —~~~~
I think i accidentally linked the "related changes" to this talk page...I was trying to make a link that went somewhere else...(i deleted it), do whatever you can to fix this...sorry!!!

Sbemail 00:38, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

oh nevermind, I just logged back on then off, and it's normal again. Sbemail 00:40, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Ok, forget it, I didn't mean to click on "related changes"...and that whole "go away" thing was an accident...sorry again. Sbemail 00:42, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Already fixed (you'll notice my link above has turned red, meaning the page doesn't exist; It's dot com deleted it.
Cool use of Special:Random, by the way! —AbdiViklas 00:46, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Yeah! That whole "go away" thing was suppossed to have it...but oh well!! Sbemail 00:49, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Background Colors

I have a question: how do you insert different background colors? -Sbemail 02:08, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Hello? Anyone? Yoo hoo! Sbemail 02:20, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
Well, there are several ways to do it. See the source for how I've done it here. — It's dot com 02:28, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
Oh ok, I think I get it, thanks a lot.
Sbemail(Talk,Contribs.) 02:45, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
Just a reminder, you usually won't get a responce to a question on your talk page in the space of 12 minutes. If you want your question answered in a hurry, you can post it here, or ask a very frequent user (like me, or dot com), the question. — talk Bubsty edits 01:07, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Show preview

Hey Sbemail. First of all, I like the color you've added to your user page. Second, can I bring a little button called "Show preview" to your attention? Situated just to the right of the "Save page" button, it lets you see the changes applied before you commit them to the database. It also helps cut down on the number of edits in the recent changes. Thanks. — It's dot com 04:54, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Ya, I do know about that button. I use it most of the time, but don't notice what I did wrong(except for this time, I made a few mistakes and caught them)! Also, usually when I make tons of edits, its because after I do the first one, a new idea pops into my head, so it turns out to be a lot at a time! I think my user page is finished, so there probably won't be a lot more changes! Cya!
Sbemail(Talk,Contribs.) 04:59, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
Oh, I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong per se. I just wasn't sure you were aware of it because you had several tweaks in a row. No worries. :) — It's dot com
I'm not sure how to put this...I knew what you meant and everything...I was just trying to point out that...oh great now I forgot what I wanted to point out!!! Oh well!! It's getting late and I'm tired!! If I sounded mad in that last, really long sentence, I didn't mean to! (see, this really makes no sense! I wasn't kidding when I said "I'm not sure how to put this") Anyways, bye! Sbemail(Talk,Contribs.) 05:19, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Picture Captions

As much fun as you may have putting periods on every thumbnail, I do not think it is entirely necessary. The lines are mostly fragments anyway, and I think they look odd with periods in them. If you really still want to continue, be my guest, but if you don't continue don't worry about reverting the ones you've already done. And don't let me guilt you in to stopping either. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 04:04, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Well, like all of them I have added have been reverted! So there's really no point to add them anymore, so i think I'll stop now! —Sbemail(Talk,Contribs.) 04:06, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
Yes, I reverted all of the period-adding edits that weren't reverted already. They are captions and/or fragments and not sentences. Sorry. -- Tom 04:07, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sig (a little help here?)

I changed my signature recently, and it's not changing on the other pages, like it did the first time I changed it. Anyone know why? Sbemail(Talk,Contribs.) 05:10, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

Wait...now it is like I changed it to...but it has the dotted-lined box??? Can anyone help with getting rid of that?
Okay, I made a whole bunch of fixes. Look closely to see what I did. Mainly, you don't need to restate the color when you close the font tags. I also made sure you had a closing tag for everything that you opened, and in the same order. Also, color names don't have spaces in them. Hope that helps. — It's dot com 05:16, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
Wow, thanks a lot. I don't know what to say....I guess I will look over what you did. Thanks again!! —Sbemail(Talk,Contribs.) 05:19, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Happy birthday!

Happy hundredth fourteenth birthday, Sbemail! (I really hope today's the day and not just the day you got around to updating your user page.) Cheers! — It's dot com 04:42, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Heh, actually I had my birthday last year! My next one's coming up in a couple months.. I've been keeping an eye on this site, and barely decided to update it today. Thanks anyways! Sbemail(Talk,Contribs.) 04:45, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
