Hi! You've got the H-star-C! I'm the Amanda. I am getting my master's degree in computer science at MIT and am currently wasting time. I'm a sysop here so feel free to ask questions or request help on my talk page. Visit my Journal or my H*CMail PATCH YOURSELF FOR THE WMF VULNERABILITY. IF YOU USE WINDOWS, YOU ARE IN DANGER OF HAVING YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM COMPROMISED. THE INFECTION IS TRIGGERED MERELY BY VIEWING AN IMAGE AND OCCURS IMMEDIATELY. 1. Unregister the WMF dll: instructions 2. Install the unofficial patch: here. 3. Never use Internet Explorer. 4. Do not open any suspicious images or click on suspicious links. 5. Turn off Google Desktop and any other indexing software. 6. Update your antivirus and make sure it protects against this vulnerability. I will vouch that McAfee catches common versions of the exploit. The official patch from Microsoft might not be out until the 9th. You can't afford to leave this unpatched so DO THIS NOW. I highly recommend doing ALL of the five steps. When the official patch comes out, you can uninstall the unofficial patch, reregister the dll, and turn on indexing again.
