The Brothers Chaps have made many references to both the heavy metal parody band Spinal Tap and the movie about them (This Is Spın̈al Tap) in some of their cartoons.
Appearances
- Arcade Game — The page title, "Quite Exciting this Computer Magic!" is a quote from the movie.
- Fortune Cookies — One fortune reads "Have a good time, all the time". This is also a quote from the movie.
- Email death metal DVD commentary — Strong Bad compares the drummer of Brainkrieg to Joe Mama Besser.
- Email origins DVD commentary — Mike and Homestar Runner lift dialog from the film about harmonizing to "Heartbreak Hotel" when discussing Homestar's bread songs.
- Weclome Back — Homestar sleeps in a green ribcage shirt, the same as Nigel Tufnel.
- The Eh! Steve song "Sweet Cups and Cakes" is likely a reference as well, since "Cups and Cakes" is the name of a Spinal Tap song.
- The Limozeen Advantage — The quote "Quite exciting this computer magic!" is from the movie.
- Blubb-O's Commercial — The restaurant serves sandwiches called "The Original", "The New Original", and "The Regular". In the film, Spinal Tap were formerly named The Originals, and later The New Originals, after they found the name had already been taken. The Originals were said to have later changed their name to The Regulars.
