| + | Curious as to what your issue is with [[User:Color Printer/Pop]]. According to [[HRWiki:User space#What about user subpages?|our policy]], it's OK to have a subpage for "a work in progress, until it is ready to be released". I saw no evidence of a user template there. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 01:44, 28 August 2006 (UTC) |

- | :According to the recently-updated [[Talk:Flashforward_2006_Seattle_-_28_Feb_2006|talk page]], he obtained a press pass in the wiki's behalf. How ''totally cool'' is that? He really isn't under any obligation to transcribe TBC's speech. I'm sure he'll let us know if it's possible. {{User:The Paper/sig}} 05:25, 2 March 2006 (UTC) | + | :::Sorry, it wasn't a big deal or anything. I have no problem with a similar communial template, I actually like the idea of it. But that template as a user subpage had no reason to be nested, when the contents could easily just be duplicated at the top. Hope I didn't offend anyone. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 05:06, 29 August 2006 (UTC) |
- | ::Well I really don't want the page to turn out like [[NYU Talk - 1 Mar 2005|other similar pages]], so I'm gonna make a totally rad and readable writeup of the event [[Flashforward_2006_Seattle_-_28_Feb_2006|here]]. It may take a while, but it's coming. | + | :Haha. Well originally my task was to "Get a Danish", then later to "Catch a Raven", but at this point in my life I've decided to change my priorities, and simply wait for come what may. Perhaps one day I'll throw one of those tasks back up there, already crossed off, or perhaps even a different but similar one, but for now that kind of goal is no longer in my immediate sights. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 03:26, 8 October 2006 (UTC) |
| + | ::I can understand giving up on a raven, but a Danish? Come on, this is accomplishable! Don't quit on that! What message are you sending to the UM-13's? You can't do what's in your reach? {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 03:30, 8 October 2006 (UTC) |
| + | :::I haven't given up. Though I do plan on someday getting a danish, a raven, or something similar, I'm not actively pursuing such a goal at this time. One day, definently. If I were presented a danish, a raven, or something else tomorrow, I'd seriously consider accepting it. But for the time being the pursuit of such has been pushed to the back of my priorities. It's not that its not accomplishable, I've just re-considered my future goals. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 03:36, 8 October 2006 (UTC) |

- | :If there is an active vandal, most likely there is a sysop watching recent changes who will block him without prompting. If it continues for a few minutes, add the name to [[HRWiki:WikiTroll|WikiTroll]]. <strike>If that doesn't work, try contacting the most recently active sysop, according to [[Special:Recentchanges|Recent Changes]]</strike>. If that fails, you could also try alerting somebody on the [[HRWiki:IRC channel|IRC]]. If even that fails, and the vandalism continues for more than 10 or 15 minutes, then likely by some bizzare happening there are no sysops here at all. Then you may leave a message on my talk page. But even then, it probably won't do any good, since by the time I log in and see it, most likely another capable sysop will already have logged in, seen the problem, and blocked them. Unless I'm visably active, leaving a message here really doesn't do much. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 22:56, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
| + | I didn't want to litter IRF's page with talkage, but your birthday wish is barely readably on a computer screen. The image is too small and the color is a bit faded. - | ::If there are no sysops that are logged in and active but not checking recent changes, it won't do much good to contact any of them. I thought images were more or less universal for size and quality from the source, but I could be totally wrong on that. - | == Protected subpages ==
| + | ::::Well, if it's handwritten and scanned, probably the best thing to do would be to just scan it again... Find some resolution setting in the scanning software and knock that up a couple of notches... Your average screen is around 72 or 96 DPI, for printing you generally want something in the order of 300... give or take a factor of 2, depending on the quality you're after. - | :It changes your specific Wiki display options. You can do all sorts of things with it, FireBird even made his sysop "rollback" button flash. I really don't know much about HOW to make stuff happen though, best I can do is see what users do and copy them. I haven't really gotten around to personalizing them at all much, but I probably will someday. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 23:12, 5 March 2006 (UTC) | + | :It seems that you were sorely mis-lead on that, since while I have welcomed a fair number of new users in the past, I've only ever used the standard <nowiki>{{subst:welcome|~~~|~~~~~}}</nowiki> template, which in my opinion is all you ever need to use anyways. - | Hi Thunderbird. Was just going to remark that I have the same exact camera model as you. May I ask if you used ''all three diamonds'' when you took [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Image:Flashforward_TBC.JPG this pic]? I was wondering what other users of that camera preferred to use. And while I'm here, I'd like to ask if you've received a package from me yet. And would it be OK to congratulate a [[User:E.L. - | | + | |
- | :Hey man, long time no see! The camera is my parent's, it's around 4 years old, and I rarely use it. I really didn't know much about it, now that you mention the diamond thing, I seem to recall something about it, more diamonds means better quality, or something, right? As for how many I used, I didn't even think to change it or anything, so it really just depends on what the default is. I haven't recieved your package yet, but I'm looking forward to it. And in case you didn't realize, the ''and more'' is the reason why I requested the replacements for myself. ;) {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 02:48, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

| + | Hi, T-bird. You're back! At least it appears that way... or perhaps you never left? Anyway, I'm posting a message to you here in the hopes you'll find it. Long ago I meant to ask if you ever received the DVD I sent you of the NYU Talk. It probably arrived safely, but I never knew for sure. I also would like to thank you (four years belated) for the Flashforward 2006 Seattle CD you sent me. Have a great one! {{User:The Paper/sig}} 07:24, 1 April 2010 (UTC) |
- | | + | :Yes, I received it, thanks. I actually never left, I've still been here to check the new toon every week, I just haven't been contributing much, because all the things I wanted to do and projects I wanted to spearhead have been done, and I no longer feel my touch is needed on certain things or projects to get them just right. Since my lapse in contributing, everything has been running quite nicely, confirming my feelings of not being indispensable<!--I know that's a double negative, and it would be simpler to just say "dispensable", but it just sounds like it would mean something different than what I'm trying to convey-->. I felt adding the first new toon in the longest hiatus ever to my previous pet project of [[H*R.com updates 2010|H*R.com updates]] was a fitting contribution I'd be proud to make. Also getting terribly busy with life, between work and school and wife and other commitments was also a motivating factor of cutting back my wiki time. Keep rocking on though, I'll still be around as long as Homestar is. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 19:13, 17 April 2010 (UTC) |

- | == Contents Question==
| + | |
- | Is it possible to get a contents for your user page? I see that you got one in this user talk but when I went to see what you put in to get one of em the only thing I saw seperating the "⇔Thunversations⇔" from this part of the conversation page was a in caps message about not editing above this line or haveing to face the rath of some undetermined fate. So I look all over everywhere I can't find anything in there that let's you have a contents box though I did realize that the URL is different. Am I overlooking something, Is the Box supplied when you get a long enough page, Are some pages just equiped with this from the begining? When I held my mouse over the hide / show button it reads "javascript:toggleToc()" and I know what javascript is. Whenever i go to edit something I look at where the contents are and... it pulls a Houdini.... upon hiting the "Show preview" thing It includes this in the contents. If you don't mind clearing this up for my that would be appriciated.
| + | |
- | | + | |
- | :The top line regarding Thundery rath and all that, is just to protect my Talk archives navigation template, so you can go from month to month of old conversations. The reason my userpage does not have a table of contents, is simple. If you look at the very bottom of the code (by clicking "edit" but not saving it) I put at the bottom a little <nowiki>"__NOTOC__"</nowiki>. What that does, is prevents a table of contents from appearing. <small>"Don't ask me why I did it... Because I already forgot."</small> Now whether they appear or not, is somewhere under your personal preferences, the same place you set your sig, etc. You choose in your personal settings to display Tables of Contents or not. If you choose to show them, then once a page gets more than three headers (A header is defined by a little edit tag so you can edit the sub section), then it will display a table of contents for you. Putting <nowiki>"__TOC__", "__NOTOC__" or "__FORCETOC__"</nowiki> on a page will override your preferences. The first one will make the TOC appear after a page has three headings (regardless of what you have selected in your preferences), the second one will not allow the TOC to appear, and the third one will cause a TOC to appear on the page even when there's less than three headings. Some of these are used on pages around the wiki, for instance you'll notice [[H*R.com updates 2005|The updates pages]] shouldn't have tables of contents whether it's selected under preferences for you or not. Since that page has so many headings, a TOC would be very long, therefore we use <nowiki>__NOTOC__</nowiki>. But whether they appear or not, they're automatically generated, you won't see a code for them or anything. I hope that answers your question Yoshi, let me know if you have any others. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 07:45, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
| + | |
- | | + | |
- | ::To clarify: normally a page will automatically get a TOC just before the first heading if there are ''more than 3'' headings on the page (provided it's turned on in [[Special:Preferences|your prefs]]). <code><nowiki>__NOTOC__</nowiki></code> forces there to be no TOC, <code><nowiki>__FORCETOC__</nowiki></code> forces there to be a TOC, and <code><nowiki>__TOC__</nowiki></code> forces there to be a TOC ''and'' moves the TOC to where you wrote <code><nowiki>__TOC__</nowiki></code> (instead of the normal place, between the opening text and the first heading). This lets you do fancy things, like <code><nowiki><div style="float:right">__TOC__</div></nowiki></code> to get a floating TOC (like on my talk page). On a tangent, is a similar tag, <code><nowiki>__NOEDITSECTION__</nowiki></code>, which stops the [edit] links from appearing next to the headers. {{User:Phlip/sig}} 07:56, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

| + | |
- | | + | |
- | :Actually, I've been planning on getting around to it, but I'm still gonna be pretty busy for the next few days. What I was planning, was instead of trying to transcribe the whole thing, summarize it in the same fashion as the Flashforward page. Not only is that easier to write, as you can listen to a minute of it and then summarize without going over it repeatedly, but I find it's also an easier read than a terribly long mega-page. If you want to try and get some done in that way, go ahead. I'll also try and get it done sometime later, and I'm sure various users would go over what you write and fix any spelling or grammatical errors. That's what they did for me. :) {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 22:54, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

I didn't want to litter IRF's page with talkage, but your birthday wish is barely readably on a computer screen. The image is too small and the color is a bit faded. It's your birthday wish, but I'm just pointing out. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 22:04, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
