Rich Trott is a composer. After several unofficial musical interactions with Strong Bad on Twitter in 2022 and 2023, Trott has officially contributed to Homestar Runner with music for Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate and Fanstume [singular] '24.
The Decemberween toon for 2022 was a Decemberweenvent Calendar, sheet music of various Homestar Runner songs updated daily throughout December. On Twitter (@trott), Rich Trott reinterpreted the daily songs "sorta mostly in the style of the soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas by the Vince Guaraldi Trio" and shared them; most were retweeted by @StrongBadActual.
In May 2023, Strong Bad tweeted a jazz/funk remix of the theme from Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon as a teaser for Dangeresque Roomisode 2. When Trott again provided a jazz remix of the track, Strong Bad retweeted it and further challenged Trott to "jazz-interpret [a] little song I made up"; Trott responded with multiple covers of the song.
Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate included Rich Trott's covers of Stave It Off and Strong Bad is a Bad Guy in the game; Trott also is credited among the game's playtesters. The game's soundtrack was released later that month, containing an additional thirteen new musical arrangements by Trott of music from the game.
Rich Trott provided the music for the song in Fanstume [singular] '24.
Fun Facts
- Trott has been a Node.js maintainer since 2015. He started the practice of using the name fhqwhgads in the code base when an arbitrary string value or variable name is called for.
