Hey there. Welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! Are you, by any chance, the same Trott that made those cool Charlie Brown Christmas-type Vincent Guraldi Trio versions of the Decemberweenvent Calendar songs? - HoveringSombrero (talk)
- Hey there, based on your username it sounds like you might, in fact, be 135.180.110.139 and @trott? Is that correct? If so I would like to, once again, thank you for your awesome renditions and help with the wiki! Some confirmation (via twitter and/or band camp) might also be helpful. Happy Decemberween and Merry New Year! --Stux 15:30, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, that's me, although the IP address has also been used by another member of the household to edit the Wiki, so not all of the edits at that IP address are mine. Thanks for the kind and supportive words about the Decemberweenvent tracks. Trott 15:46, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- Cool! I specifically liked the Dethemberween Thnikkaman one. - HoveringSombrero (talk)
- Glad to hear you liked that one. Apparently TBC liked it too since they used it in that video on Decemberween day (or eve, I forget) on Twitter. I was wondering if doing a slow piano solo version would come across as a bit of a cop out, especially on a song that seemed to kind of call out a bit for lots of horns or drums or something, but I also figured I had earned a cop out or two over the course of the month. It's grown on me too. It was one of my least favorites when I posted it, but a little distance has helped me get a better perspective, I think. Trott 18:20, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- I am surprised to hear that the Dethemberween Thnikkaman song was initially among your least favourites. I think successfully reinterpreting a piece in a completely different style or temperament makes for good music. (Although, it's hard for me to come up with good examples. Blue Monday and its 90's cover come to mind. Tank Pummeling is a story that, I think, successfully does a similar feat with a song but in writing instead. Mild
content warning regarding these links for other readers.) Anywho, I digress from the original topic. My point is, the piece was very nice, and the video made the whole scene feel very cozy and christmasy and all that jazz (pun intended). I played the piece a few times so I could just sit and contemplate for a couple of minutes.
- Overall, excellent work with the albums! I doubt we'll have anything like the weenvent calendar in the near future (then again, who knows?) Nevertheless, it would be nice to hear new stuff coming from your studio! :) I also can't forget to mention that you're also welcome to contribute further to the wiki if you wish. There's usually someone available to answer questions about editing stuff. With that, I bid adieu and wish you a Happy New year! --Stux 14:20, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

[edit] Improvements
Hey Trott, MeowMeow here. What sort of improvements do you do on the wiki?
- Hi, MeowMeow! I mostly just do small fixes when I see them while browsing the wiki. I'm not all that active, but I do a thing or two here or there. Hey, quick tip: On discussion pages like this, you can put four tildes in a row (~~~~) at the end of your comment to sign it. It includes a timestamp too, which is helpful. [edit] Working with Videlectrix??
Hey I recognized your Strong Bad is a Bad Guy cover in The Roomisode Triungulate, and saw you listed in the credits as a playtester. I just thought that was cool and wanted to say congratulations on that! Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 06:19, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks! It's been a lot of fun. And it's been very gratifying that the Videlectrix Guys like what I do. Trott 13:22, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
[edit] Hello + Social Media
Hi Trott,
How's it going? I wanted to say a quick "hi" and thank you for your help with the Social Media items! And a quick apology just in case you were working on creating the April Tweet page. Recent edits led me to check for recent tweets and coincidence led me to the image you had just uploaded (without me noticing) so I could reuse it on the page. It wasn't until after posting when I checked recent changes that I noticed that you had been working on the bluesky posts at the same time! I'd thought the image had been uploaded days ago. Anyway, thanks again! --Stux 12:18, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- No need to apologize! I wasn't sure that I wasn't uploading a duplicate image myself! Not sure how to browse what images have been uploaded already. Anyway, I'm unlikely to update the social media pages other than Bluesky at this point, so if you're diligent about Twitter and Instagram posts, I'll at least try to stay out of your way! 😆 I do wonder if there's a way to replicate the alt text for images in Bluesky. A lot of people write good alt text that also contain jokes or additional context that would be good to preserve. I don't think Strong Bad is doing that yet but one can hope/dream! Maybe it goes in the whatever it is that generates those small italic notes at the bottom of some entries that provide additional context. Trott 23:50, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Like I mentioned earlier, it was sheer coincidence: since I copied the April entry from March, I noticed that the March image was named File:20250320 BlueskyPost.jpg, so I figured I'd check the Bluesky page and there I saw it! I checked them side by side to make sure they were the same and reused it. The one who checked the March post was @Bleu Ninja, so I have him to thank! Also, I can't check Instagram since I don't have an account as AFAIK that's another walled garden.
- As for image alt text, the {{post}} template can't caption images directly (yet, it could be added if necessary) but there is an
altdesc
option which seems to more or less fit the bill. Worst case, we can add it as a fun fact entry. If Strong Bad starts using that feature and the current template isn't enough, let me know. I can try to add a new option. --Stux 10:34, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- Since I'm a fellow social-media-article-updater, figured I'd chime in here with some comments too --
- I've noticed that TBC have been much more directly cross-posting among their social pages, at least with regards to images (the picture looks the same on all three of these posts, platform-specific compression notwithstanding). With that in mind, I'd recommend avoiding specifying "Bluesky" in filenames - to return to File:20250320 BlueskyPost.jpg, seeing as it's used on all three social articles maybe something like "20250320 DTRT Crime Family social post" (well, not that verbose, but you get it) would be better?
- I still have a Twitter account, but I don't stay logged in and only use it when researching things since the logged-out UX is so awful. Like I said, it's mostly promotional "new toon!" "new sale!" cross-posts these days so I'm not really driven to stay on top of those posts.
- Instagram isn't quite a walled garden but it does have hostile architecture that throws up a nag screen if you scroll or click too much. But viewing a profile does show the latest posts in chronological order, and you can open the posts in a new tab to fully view them without logging in. I use Instagram regularly so I'm a little more on top of SB there.
- I remember SB using alt text once or twice several years ago on Twitter. He has used it twice on bsky -- 1 & 2 -- but it's been genuine description rather than sprinkling in sassy jokes. Right now I think just including that on the file page (like this) is fine.

- I really do appreciate the support on keepin' on top of these pages! I personally find a lot of the {{post}} template to be (unavoidably) onerous copying-and-pasting so cheers for your work. -- Bleu Ninja

- Thanks Bleu Ninja! I think this is very useful information. I didn't know that about being able to fully see specific Instagram posts, I'll have to try that out sometime. I've been trying to use nitter to access Twitter stuff. And I do agree something like "20250320 DTRT Crime Family social post.png" or ".jpg" would be a better file naming convention going forward. --Stux 18:04, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
