The Olympics have historical significance to the Homestar Runner universe as the Original Book was created while Mike Chapman and Craig Zobel had jobs in the 1996 Summer Olympics, which were held in their home state of Georgia. The worldwide sports event receives as much attention in the Homestar universe as it does in the real world.

- Fan Stuff — There is a picture of Homestar Runner as speed skater Apolo Ohno. The comment reads, "I didn't watch much winter olympics but Stephanie sure did!"
- Email the show — One of the cue cards that Homestar recites reads "Olympic race".
- 3 Times Halloween Funjob — The Cheat dresses up as Izzy, the mascot of the 1996 Olympics.
