While Strong Sad's appearance looks like an elephant to some characters because of his grayness and similar looking feet, many characters refer to this animal in other contexts, too.

- DNA Evidence — Strong Bad says he was close to finding out if Strong Sad was part elephant or part hippo.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 16.2 — Strong Bad calls Strong Sad "Ella Phantzgerald."
- Xeriouxly Forxe — In the "redesign", S. Sad is drawn with an elephant's head.
- @StrongBadActual: April 26, 2016 — Strong Bad says he assumed Strong Sad was part elephant, but he might be an elephant seal instead. In a later update, the elephant seal version of Strong Sad proceeds to eat the penguin version of Strong Bad.
