== Ja What? ==

...all right, I've removed that silly "Ja" fact like, three times, and it keeps getting added back. What *is* the big deal here? Considering it's not actually a real word, and that Schenkel McDoo's grasp of the English language is tenuous at best, this fact seems pointless and demeaning. Should we put a fun fact in [[buried]] about how when he says "Yold Ones Vry" at the end, he actually means "Cold Ones Dry"? ::Ja, but that's really not the issue. "Yah" is perfectly acceptable; I've seen it spelled this way before. It isn't a glaring error that especially needs to be pointed out, because it's really not much more "incorrect", IMO, than Catsup/Ketchup. But let's be serious here. When you consider McDoo uses "Yah" in another line along with "Yold Ones Vry", which isn't proper grammar no matter *how* you look at it, it seems, as I said, excessively nitpicky. :::Apart from YK's rant, he has a point. It borders on speculation to assume that he was actually saying "ja". Admittedly, a word meaning "yes" fits there, and he does have a foreign name and accent ("Ja" actually means "yes" in at least 7 languages [http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ja#Andere_Sprachen], most notably German - which would also match his accent). :I removed them.  As [[#Mirrors_behind_mirrors.|before]], I doubt the authenticity of those recordings.  The [[Audio Quality|quality]] is very poor, lower than in the actual toons themselves.  They appear to be recorded by someone other than the [[The Brothers Chaps]].  How did you find them?  Do you know their source?&nbsp;-- [[User:Tom|Tom]] 19:00, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

== Download Help ==

I can't get any of these to download because I have Quicktime, which only allows downloads through a paid version that I don't have. Anyone know how to make Quicktime NOT the default download choice? Shaggy, who is currently not signed in.
:If you right-click on the links in the list here, you should get a menu that you can choose "Save link" or "Save target" or similar... that should save straight to disk, rather than going through QuickTime. As for disabling QT completely (so that you could download them from the H*R site, for instance), I'm not sure... but it'd help to know what version of QuickTime you have, which browser (Internet Explorer? People have also noticed that the current quote is broken and has been for weeks, right? On the day the quote was originally going to have been switched out there was indeed a new quote there, briefly. The quote of the week page was recently split into [[:Template:Quote of the Week|several pages<!--feel free to remove this link if it turns red-->]] for each year (like the [[Sketchbook]] and [[Weekly Fanstuff]] pages), but I believe it should remain as one long list <s>(okay, technically two, but on one page)</s>. The quotes page, while moderately long, is not unbearably so, and the benefits of having all the quotes on one page far outweigh any page-length concerns. Most important is the fact that the tables can be sorted for easy searching and comparison of quotes over several years. (The sketchbook and weekly fanstuff pages are different in that there is no need to sort the tables, and the graphics take up much more space per entry.) &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 01:02, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

::Frankly, that seems to be spurious argument.  While MediaWiki does complain when a page is too long, I'm not aware of any browser that cannot outright edit the page.  The notice is more about a warning to make sure that data is properly kept track of. ::::Because not dividing the Weekly Fanstuff would mean having to temporarily download hundreds of images of every single fanstuff that's ever existed from the server every time you just wanted to see the latest fanstuff. It's easier on your internet connection and speeds up your page viewing if you only need to download the year's fanstuff so far (a fraction of the total), rather than ''all'' the fanstuff so far. The Quote of the Week article contains only a dozen or so [[Quote of the Week Character Heads|Character Heads]] so the images load pretty quickly. The text itself doesn't actually take long to appear in your browser so the amount of text isn't the issue here. But I wonder if the tables could be split up according to year? On Wikipedia, IIRC that message doesn't even mention that some browsers might have problems, or even include the word "Warning". We probably should change the message here to match.
:::::::: Fanstuff and Sketchbook it makes sense to split up, 'cause each row has its own image... if that was all in one page, there'd be several hundred images to download when you open the page (just look at how long it takes to load, say, [[Floppy Disk Container]] over a dialup connection... a one-page Fanstuff or Sketchbook would take even longer to load). The gains you get from paginating those outweigh the loss of sorting... and there's not much to sort on there, anyway. QotW doesn't have that problem - each row has an image, but they're smaller and heavily reused (it only needs to load SB's head once, for instance). And there's more use to be gained from having it all in one sortable table - the "Character head", "Quote" and "Source" columns can all be sorted to group the quotes by the face, who's talking, or which toon it's from.

:Its pretty simple. an Blooper is when they say a line, but there's an obvious mess-up. An outtake is when they say a line, but use a few different words. An extended take is when in the toon, not the whole sentence is completed, but the QOTW is. And, exclusive is when we've never heard it before. Simple. Bubs's [[Quote_of_the_Week#QW-2006-02-16|quote]] that references [[A Decemberween Pageant]] on 16 Feb 2006 could not have been an outtake from that cartoon. If you listen closely, his voice is of the newer style, and the quality is much better than the Chaps could have produced during their Cool Edit Pro 'era'. However, the line would make sense in context when replacing his actual line in [[myths & legends]], which was released 3 days earlier, and after his line he does a dance that references [[Dancin' Bubs]], so it probably is from that sbemail.

I'm just telling you, the QotW, "Hey! Watch those hands, David Coppafeel!" said by Marzipan, are actually from the email and not an outtake. "Let the KOT have some!" sounds like an alternate take more than an actual outtake, since the KOT's line is "Let the king have some!" on the actual email.

Currently the page says that a message will come up when there is no quote in the Flash file. However, it currently shows "undefined" rather than one of the two messages. An anonny recently changed "Call it, friendo" to be an [[I Killed Pom Pom]] outtake, something I was hesitant to do when I originally added the quote. I went ahead and reverted it to a Quote of the Week exclusive. I don't think we can definitively call it an outtake. :I don't see why that would be helpful. We mark some of our internal processes, such as FAS, as inactive because their activity is dependent entirely on our own userbase and will not be restarted without a decision made here. By contrast, usage of our weeklies checklist is based entirely on an external factor and thus its activity or lack thereof is not based on what we do.
